Consider Volunteering with the IIIC in 2013!
Are you looking for an enjoyable and worthwhile way to stay active and involved?
Are you a student or job seeker looking to gain valuable resume building skills?
Do you enjoy meeting new people from all over the world?
Would you like to help make a difference in real people’s lives?
If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then it may be time to consider volunteering with the Irish International Immigrant Center! We are looking for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to assist staff, serve at our lively reception, help organize events, as well as volunteer to teach or assist in our English language and conversation classes. These positions offer a wonderful opportunity for someone interested in immigration or social justice to become part of a team of people dedicated to helping newcomers to this country. This is a chance to make a difference in the lives of immigrants and to gain an appreciation for diverse cultures while being part of an organization strongly rooted in its Irish culture. All we ask is a minimum commitment of 2 hours a week, though more is always welcome. Full training and support is provided.
Some of the many benefits include:
Being part of a busy, friendly office with plenty of variety
Building lasting friendships with staff and other volunteers
Building your resume
Developing valuable customer service skills and experience
Gaining event planning and management skills and experience
Gaining office management experience
Learning about immigration issues and international issues
Opportunities to practice Spanish and French
Opportunities to teach English and computer skills
For more information contact our volunteer coordinator Evelyn Brito at volunteering@iiicenter.org or 617-542-7654.
