Sr. Consilio Fitzgerald S.M., founder and Guardian of Cuan Mhuire, has heralded her recent trip to Boston as a tremendous success. Cuan Mhuire (Harour of Mary) is Ireland's largest network of addiction treatment facilities, providing over 50% of residential places at any given time.
The delegation from Cuan Mhuire's visit wa part of the 'Boston Friends of Cuan Mhuire' initiative. This group has been formed to communicate the history, current status and future vision of Cuan Mhuire, to the Irish community of Boston. Going forward the 'Boston Friends' will work towards directly supporting the work of Cuan Mhuire with fundraising initiatives.

At a presentation while in Boston, Sr. Consilio explained that Cuan Mhuire's approach is to help the addicted deal with the underlying emotional pain that they bear, instead of treating just the addictive behavior. This approach has proven successful for all types of substance abuse and other addictions such as gambling. The treatment regiment focus on compassion and emphasizes rebuilding confidence through work ethic and training opportunities
The Boston Friends of Cuan Mhuire will be spearheaded by John Joe Somers with support from Justin McCarthy (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Sean Moynihan (email@example.com). Please reach out to one of these people for information on how you can help this worthy effort.
