Appalled and shocked…We don’t blame you.

This screen shot, of Twitter users conversing over the Titanic, has gone viral, and it’s no wonder. The shocking images show a list of Twitter users who had not realized that James Cameron’s movie "Titanic", starring Leonardo DiCaprio, was actually based on real historic event.

As Journal.ie commented “You couldn’t make it up”.

What’s even more worrying is that this isn’t an isolated event.

The Huffington Post noticed this before (see image above). And here one lost soul turns to Yahoo Answers to figure out what the truth is.

A worrying indictment of the lack of historic knowledge in the younger generations? No…I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Back to tweeting about One Direction and Niall Horan it is!

The real "WTF" is that these people have never heard of the freaking Titanic! Seriously? I realize I'm in a small minority of history-nerds, but COME ON. This brought about a better awareness of class and social injustices (still being fought 100 years on), as well as a change in safety measures. Should I even *ask* if they've heard of the Lusitania?
Don't tell the poster ciaradexy. She's looking forward to "Titanic--The Musical".
There are a lot of stupid people out there. They don't read newspapers, don't watch news programs and don't study history. If they can't get it on a social network or an app then they are totally unaware and uneducated by choice. Why do you think we have so many problems in this country (USA) and the world?
Wow! I didn't realize twitter was real!
Wow fear for the future.
