Rosetta Stone, the world renowned language teaching group, are celebrating St. Patrick's Day by offering a free online trial of their Irish language-learning program.

Irish, considered a dying language, is only spoken by 55,000 people.

The company plans to launch a Facebook application that will allow users to send Irish greetings to their friends also.

Duane Sider, director of learning at Rosetta Stone, said “We would like everyone to go beyond just wearing their favorite green shirt on St. Patrick’s Day and thought it would be fun for anyone to learn a few Irish words through our free trial and be able to send a message in Irish to their friends through the Facebook app."

I use Rosetta Stone Irish. Even though I am American, I am of Irish descent and the language is very important in our heritage. The article above says only 55,000 speak it and consider it a dying language. We shouldn't let that happen, it is very important that we preserve and speak the language as it is a part of us. I am proud to be number 55,001.
I think it's wonderful that Irish descendants are being treated better. We are all family even if we are just friends.
I have Rosetta Stone irish. It is a very difficult language to learn.
Yes! I would really like to learn the language of my grandparents. Thank you
