The Irish Census 2011 is due to take place in four months. The Central Statistics Office (CSO) received 21,000 pre-registrations applications for the 5,000 temporary jobs in just 24 hours.
By 5pm on Tuesday, the day applications opened, they had received 7,000 applications. The CSO will cut-off applications at 15,000.
