The number of children living in poverty and children suffering from abuse has risen since 2008.

The official State of the Nation’s Children report showed how Ireland’s more vulnerable children were missing out on basic services because of the level of poverty in which they live.

The number of families in need of social house increased to 24 percent. The report also showed that children in Traveller families or with disabilities were less likely to feel safe.

In Ireland 8.7 percent of children now live in poverty. This has increased from the 6.3 percent figure in 2008 but it is still below the 11 percent living in poverty in 2006.

Also the number of children being abused has increased by 20 percent according to the Irish Times.

The startling report also showed that one quarter of children aged seven are overweight or obese.

so 1/4 of 7 year olds are obese. must be something to do with that 'creche culture' introduced here just over...7 years ago, ha!
What does Society do as a whole,to educate and help married couples or people, who have neither the skills nor the confidence to raise their own kids.Swallowed up by their own deep pain by the lack of love they themselves received as kids, so that they are incapable of giving even the basics of what a child needs. So the cycle continues on and on and on.Those parents love their children just as much as anyone. There mental pain and lack of skills is as acute as an ongoing abscess of a tooth.Judge them not till you walk a mile in their shoes.Traps have been sprung long before they were born and hope bites the dust behind all the closed doors, and pus and grime ooze from its scab-crusted sores. There's screaming and crying in the high-rise blocks It's a rat trap, kids, but you're already caught.
WHOEVER MAKES these unwanted kids should have their tackle clamped!
It's a crying shame
