Ireland could well be on the cusp of another baby boom, according to new figures from 11850 Directory Enquiries, which saw a massive increase in callers looking for dating agencies.
Figures from the company’s Autumn call lists has seen calls for dating agencies increase by a staggering 2650 percent. In line with the romance theme, it has reported a 44 percent increase in calls looking for jewellery designers, 31 percent increase in callers looking for details on priests and clergy and a 45 percent rise in callers looking for wedding cars.
Colin Lewis, 11850′s chief marketing officer said the figures offered an “interesting window into the next stage in the lives of Irish people.
“When the nation makes a big decision, they come to us to get the numbers they need to call to get their plans rolling,” he added.

We can't spend all our time complaining about the recession so we have to have more pleasurable pursuits and with pleasure there are always consequences. Blame it on Cowen

surprise: Good Idea. I think the Indians, Pakistanis, Poles etc. should be given a free pack of condoms when they claim their welfare benefit each week.

Dear God! If this is true it really is bad news! Do the Irish really think they can breed their way out of the ditch they are in! ..........I doubt the figures given here - especially the '2,650 percent', as you can't possibly have more that 100% of anything! ...............Great photo of the sausage factory production line. Is it Richmonds or Donnellys?

Since as many as one baby in four born in Ireland is not Irish I don't think that a Baby Boom is something to look forward to. All it means is more ethnic pressure on the beleaguered Irish in their own country. I doubt if the Sioux were whooping with delight when they heard about the high rate of births to White Settlers in the Dakotas in the 1870s. They knew it spelled doom for their lands and ancient way of life. If you think Mass Immigration is a Good Idea, ask a Native American. Or a Palestinian.
