Irish emigrant’s ‘Just Saying’ video filmed in Dublin goes viral - VIDEO

Dave Tynan
In a poignant short video, Irishman Dave Tynan tackles the difficulties and confusion that emigration is placing upon the young generation in Ireland today.
Tynan himself lived in London for a few years, but returned to Dublin to make this video, which admirers are praising as a “masterpiece."
In the video, Tynan tackles the struggles that emigration places on not only those who choose to emigrate, but those who are left behind. He touches upon how Ireland may be easy to leave behind, but it’s also a good place to stay. After all, for many, Ireland is home.
“I’m just saying you might get sick of it all. But you might miss it, too. There’s ten good reasons to go, but a thousand tiny ones not to.”
@Towngate and Wounded Knee etc . This is highly representative of Dublin's youth / young adults. His accent and language are bang on. Please try to be a little opened minded or positive from time to time. Signed, one of the aforementioned Dubliners.

this is art. poetry. acting. videography. it's a gauge to irish accents too, dublinese I presume... half the words I can't understand or don't know the meaning... that's ok; the piece has a flow and a rhythm that's very appealing, kind of like a beat rap from a late fifties beatnik... great to see Dublin's center belong all to one young guy, maybe disenfranchised but maybe rooted and clearheaded... may 2013 be filled with posts on this site that seek to illuminate more than to denigrate, eh?...

Happy New Year to all IC readers but regarding this video and article, you are reminded this the 1st if January - not April! as the poster has us all April Fooled by presenting this as a heartfelt cry from a young Dublin man pondering his future ... when it is no such thing! I posted my misgivings at the start aof these comments - and have since discovered this is professionally produced film and is performed by a Trinity educated actor Emmet Kirwan.
"Emerald Extracts" should explain it dishonest presentation of this article and video!

Curitiba if you cannot see woundedbrains bigotry I think you should remove those rose tinted glasses. Smyrnian's mantra is do as I do---------blah!blah!Blah! I wonder where you received your degree smyrnian!! in a packet of cornflakes maybe??

IC is largely full of hateful, angry, ill informed and ill educated louts. Just read the comments. Welcome to the left; all opinion, no facts, liberal toward only freedoms they agree with and, of course, no tolerance for differing opinions and then the bullying tactics. It's all here. Thaw same people want to take your constitutionally guaranteed gun rights away but think absolutely nothing of supporting the killing of children in the womb or trying to shut up Bill O'Reilly or you, if they don't like your view. Welcome to the left folks.

@ Curititba no i am not homophobic, I love the gays.. If you actually have a look you will see Woundedguy is the one throwing the insults and a constant bully to most people on I.C.

I like the way everyone throws insults at woundedknee, but nobody actually comes out and declare that what he says is factually incorrect. If you think he is wrong, please say why he is wrong. Otherwise you make yourselves look like intellectual inadequates, unable to form a coherent argument. But then maybe you are...
Curitiba | Dec 31, 2012, 03:30 AM EST
Bobby, are you homophobic or something?
Curitiba | Dec 31, 2012, 01:03 AM EST
Clowngate is about as Irish as Cromwell. He once posted on this sight that Patrick Pearse was a fascist racist nobody and wounded brain is the sights leading bigot.

Ohh WoundedBrain tell us more? What is this type of Lady you like? How much did it cost you??? Dirty....

eiriamach, It does not bother me what the ould git say's. He is sick. Have to say though he does like a certain type of woman when he comes to Ireland, and it cost him dearly.He let it slip a couple of years ago, when his ranting got the better of him.

It cannot be said too often (so I'm saying it for the 3rd time today) that WoundedKnee does NOT represent anything at all American. He and his dwindling group of inbred "like-minded" desperately hang onto their "Irish" as a way of convincing themselves, in complete self-delusion, that they are somehow superior to other Americans. Ignore them, or call them what they are, but please don't mistake them for representative Americans of Irish descent. There is no behavior more typical of WoundedHead and his cohort than trying to silence women, as he's doing below AGAIN!
bobby | Dec 30, 2012, 01:32 PM EST
Woundedknee same old garbage from you. Do you ever give it a rest. Go get yourself a man. You will find one or 2 in a London toilet right up your street. Creep
WoundedKnee | Dec 30, 2012, 01:24 PM EST
Momma Ginnty--You're a year older, and a year dumber. Someone who wants a prudent and moderate immigration policy doesn't 'hate' other nationalities. Make it your resolution for 2013 to stop being such a stupid idiot. Old age should bring wisdom, not stupidity as in your case.
WoundedKnee | Dec 30, 2012, 01:17 PM EST
Bobby, are YOU doing your bit to keep the London toilets clean? I think you aren't.
bobby | Dec 30, 2012, 12:14 PM EST
At Towngate, i don't for sure, most of the comments left on here by the same people is the same old crap most days. As for your complaint about lack of Public toilets in Dublin, its the same in London. The few public toilets in London, i stay clear of they are filthy and alot goes on in them. Im sure you know all about that :) I live in central London and the streets are used as a public toilet, they stink, especially on weekends. It a big problem for westminster council. ~ Just saying...
mamaginnty | Dec 30, 2012, 09:38 AM EST
Joe Kellsal you are so right, young people having to leave is sad. But our two old fogey's Towngate and W.Knee have no heart. W.Knee should really be called woundedhead, something so very wrong to have such hatred for other nationalities. The bigotry just spews from him in almost every comment. So much jealousy shows it's face on this site about our beautiful country. I count my blessings...I am Irish and living in Ireland.
WoundedKnee | Dec 30, 2012, 02:44 AM EST
The foreign migrants sure love Dublin! Take a stroll tru downtown Dublin any day, you'll see far more Indians, Poles, Paks and 100 other nationalities than you'll see Dubliners! Dublin for them is definitely better than Karachi or Kracow.
Towngate | Dec 29, 2012, 07:38 PM EST
Bobby: ease off the oil,mate! Don't take yer beatings on other threads so much to heart! @ DaddyMac22: Thanks for your observations. Firstly, I am not in the least bit miserable - on the contrary; especially with pathetic posts like yours to amuse me! I am relieved, though that you were intellictually capable of correcting a tiny single letter 'typo'. Finally, I did not attack this video: I offered a Comment on it and suggest it is not 'Genuine' and misleading. Classic Media Artifice! Look at the Credits at the end! ~ To describe 'Durty Dublin' as 'a garbage tip' is to use 'honeyed words of flattery' compared to terms I hear used by some of the struggling inhabitants. The lad in the video fails to list among his litany of complaints that there is not a single Public Toilet in the entire City. "Just as well it rains so much to wash the human waste from the weekend streets". ~ Just saying! ~ Go down to the docks and get on a boat and don't get off until you reach somewhere nice!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a good effort by all involved, and there is an important video to be made on this subject .... but this is just not it. Take two!
cillowen | Dec 29, 2012, 07:01 PM EST
what gibberish no different from tele lines we hear nightly - mumblebumming, we, straining to understand what their pain pretends.
Joe Kelsall | Dec 29, 2012, 06:24 PM EST
I think it was a true reflection of what would go through a young man's mind before emigrating. 'Wet socks, wet feet, wet shoes , wet street': dramatic alliteratiton. Also 'ten big reasons to go; a thousand small reasons to stay'? If you think you can do better, try! I am an old emigrant in the UK, but I try to get back to Killarney for a 'family fix' as often as I can. My first memory is as a toddler running through waist high grass near to Ross Castle; just one of the thousand 'small reasons to stay; I thought the video was moving.
Towngate, Garbage from your trap as usual.
mtheresa | Dec 29, 2012, 01:30 PM EST
agree with towngate, also this guy sounds like he was brought up on the streets. Couldn't understand part of what he was saying plus the foul language is completely unnecessary. The piece is depressing and also the writer. Very sullen!!!
Towngate | Dec 29, 2012, 11:29 AM EST
The Poster of this article has already decided that this "poignant... masterpiece " is " touching" ... Its nothing of the sort! It's a poor attempt at a sub-poetic 'stream of conscience' drivel some Dublin writers are famous for, and anyone can see through this lads arch delivery of the lines. This video shown Dublin as a dreary garbage tip, but it is also a Port ... so buy a one-way ticket and go away and stay away!
'Just saying'...goodbye!
