Is this the funniest Irish video ever? It could well be.
Newswhip.ie discovered this clip on an Irish comedian David O'Doherty's Twitter page.
This is probably some of the best commentary every witnessed. Not only is this whole setting of the 1994 Newcastle West Donkey Derby hilarious but as the clip goes on the situation simply gets hysterical.

I would prefer to see those hitting the poor animals be running around and the crowd hitting them with the sticks see how funny that would be and how long they could take it.....

The commentary is a bit laughable but I really fail to see the humpor in hitting an animal to make him run. Or where is the humor in a human too heavy for said animal. Funny would have been the donkey's rearing and tossing the riders off!

Hilarious - I think my wife had to change her knickers after watching it, she laughed so hard!

It's so funny I can't stop watching it! I brings back good memories of living in Cork!

On our first trip to Ireland we stayed our first night at a B&B in New Castle West. We had a great time but not as much fun as this video. The running commentary was priceless.

I don't think it's as funny as the knackers bare-knuckle fighting or the Gardai running from a group of stone throwing 12-year olds.

Great laugh, this is one of the reasons I tell people coming on a visit to Ireland, To stay off the motorways and head for the small towns and villages, you learn more about the irish people that way.

It's good to hear the west cork accent again. My sister and I lived near Clonakilty for a year about ten years ago. We loved going to the local horse races and agricultural shows. That's where you meet the real people of Ireland
