It all depends on your point of view.

Below is the largest Muslim periodical in Ireland's take on the recent bomb outside a police station in Northern Ireland by IRA dissidents. MUPAC, the Muslim Public Affairs Committee newspaper, reported it thus. This is not ironically reported by the way.

"Fanatical, fundamentalist Roman Catholic terrorists were responsible for a car bomb outside a court house in Newry, Northern Ireland, in an apparent resurgence of 'Christianist' violence.

"These Holy Warriors, reportedly operating in the name of Jesus and representative of the beliefs of many millions of Catholics around the world, sought to wreak havoc and mayhem by positioning the explosive device close to nightclubs and shopping centres, with no apparent concern for women or children who may have been in vicinity. These Catholics have no wish to participate in the mainstream political process.

"If you see any Christians acting suspiciously, especially those dressed as nuns or 'men-of-the-cloth,' don’t hesitate to contact the police immediately and let the authorities decide whether or not they pose a threat. The Pope is yet to comment on this disgraceful incident. His silence speaks volumes."

IrishAndProud...Yeah, what he said!
It could be that their perception comes from years of connection between the IRA and Palestinian factions. muslim jihadists use religion as their flag, they assume the same m.o. for the Irish.
Niall I commented on this post...Where is my comment?
These alien Muslims are only marginalising themselves more and more within Eire, saying stuff like this...and of course they should have never been allowed into Eire in the first place. They have no business there. They're not Irish, and people aren't going to magically start thinking they are just because they say things like this. Deport these aliens.
(continued) Incidentally, these non-Irish Muslims are attacking the side of the Irish struggle most likely to be sympathetic to their presence in Ireland, since the republican struggle has foolishly embraced political correctness in an attempt to be 'liked,' more (it's had the opposite effect).
For these aliens in Ireland (who could never be truly, authentically Irish themselves in a million years) to all-of-a-sudden take this tone about a struggle within Ireland that far pre-dates their presence there and has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with them, makes them look like meddling, opportunistic untrustables, who will not hesitate in the slightest to use such tactics against the Irish people themselves, once they feel strong enough to get away with it.
This is at least partly a case of Muslims trying to co-opt the perception of being 'peaceful' by condemning an act which their own faith has been openly practicing and embracing against non-muslims, on an astronomically bigger scale, WORLD...WIDE.
Why we always get blamed for that
To misspoke: you don't get it. Catholicism does not hate gays, just the sin of gays who practice diddling with members of the same sex. There's a difference.
I say all muslims should be forced to return to the middle east.
Is it a joke? The republican group responsible may be Catholic but they are not Christian! As for the Muslim rag which printed this, they need to get out in the fresh air more, and for the record I am in Ireland and there is no way I am going to wear a burkha!
I'm not surprised. They are causing turmoil in America by their archaic beliefs against womens rights here. Their refusal to accept the realization that gays are a part of the human race and not a mental condition is also troubling although this one applies mostly to the fanatical evangalical christians and southern Baptist in America.
IF THE IRISH BELIEVERS, NON BELIEVERS (C.or P.) WERE EVEN HALFASSED UNITED.....NO OUTSIDE GROUP (REGLIOUS OR OTHERWISE) WOULD DARE TO PUT THEM DOWN (ESPECIALLY IN IRELAND). IT SEEMS THE ONLY ONE'S WE HAVE NO TOLLERENCE FOR ARE OURSELVES....ie; I KNEW HIM WHEN HE HAD NOTHING.... AND NOW HE HAS LESS!! THE WAY WE ARE GOING.. WE WILL HAVE TO LOOK UP.. JUST TO SEE BOTTOM!! IT'S NOT THE WAY IT SHOULD BE!
Another way of looking at it.
Really? If this is a satirical piece O'Dowd should not give up his day job.
