A new IRA group wants to threaten the peace process.

Yesterday the widely respected Guardian newspaper led with a story that an organization calling itself the IRA, composed of different factions of dissidents, has come together and is intent on threatening the Irish peace process.

The group is a sick joke.

The new grouping, which simply calls themselves the IRA, came together in Derry and told a Guardian journalist that a new and combined campaign against British rule would begin.

To which I say horse droppings.

For over a decade various dissident groups have tried to reignite war in Northern Ireland and failed spectacularly.

The war is over, the troubles are part of history, the new political order has the overwhelming support of the majority of all the people of Ireland.

Clearly some of the dissident groups have developed delusions of grandeur that they can change all the facts on the ground.

Maybe these new Desperate Dans need reality checks, or should try Viagra to prove their manhood if they need to threaten to kill fellow nationalists as well as unionists to prove their macho muscle.

Someone needs to tell the new and disimproved version of the IRA that they are fighting a lost war, that the train left the station some time around 1998 with the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.

The GFA is an attempt to find an agreed Ireland where every group and party can find access to power and be part of.

The power sharing government of Northern Ireland has smany problems but when you consder the alternative – IE this new “IRA” then you realize we have a lot to be thankful for.

Gerry Kelly former IRA leader and now a Northern Ireland Minister puts it best.

“This is further evidence that they have no strategy and their aims are as clear as mud. RAAD, for example, have claimed to be an anti-drugs group who have now joined a larger ‘dissident’ group with different aims. This move appears to be more to do with egos and personal fiefdoms than anything else.

“That is not to say that they cannot be dangerous,” Gerry Kelly cautioned.

“They have in the past killed people, the majority of whom have been from the nationalist community. However, these actions can take us nowhere.

"Meanwhile, they are happy to risk the lives and liberty of young, impressionable people to achieve nothing.

“There is no community support for these groups. They need to desist and they need to realise that they cannot achieve a united Ireland in this way

Amen to all that.

One of those dissident IRA "losers" saved my life. I had an antibiotic resistent infection _ caused by a surgery that had nothing to do with the Troubles. The IRA man told me what to do. Thanks to him, a man I have never seen, I'm still on the right side of the sod.
The disillusionment of the Derry people coping with a GFA that failed them.
Niall. Think its time you came over to Derry and spoke to the same people who`s opinions you are happy to highlight. One of your headlines not that long ago was "Is Obama trying to wreck the peace process" by allowing the Boston tapes case to proceed. You had a problem with him not interfeering with due process that could have an effect on Adams and in turn jeapordise the peace. I asked you "HOW" to which I recieved no reply. Yet you see the unification of several millitant groups as no threat to a process that is in tatters due to lack of delivery. Not un-noticed by the ordinary man and woman on the street in Derry and many other places through out the North. I, even though against Republican millitancy at this time understand why Republicans who were prepared to give the process a chance are lossing faith at a speedery rate. We have Internment, we have Gerrymandering, We have religious discrimination, we have ex prisoners being held to ransom because of their past Republican actions on behalf of those who now persecute them for not towing the line. What achievements has the man and woman on the street got from this process. Don`t say PEACE cause its flogged to death. Its the same peace we had in 1968, just with more crooked politicians, who want to run democrecy the way they ran the RA.
Peace is the process by which Irish Meat and Potatoes is turned into Double Devon Cream !
The Bad Joke comes from the Partitionist Mouths of the Protestant Minorities and their Devon Cream loving abettors !
Cynicus. The Provos would never have survived either without a certain amount of support from within the community. Plenty of comments on the subject ,yet none of them refer as to why a growing number of people on the ground are coming to the conclusion that they have been sold a pup. A sick one that suffers from the likes of Gerrymandering, political policing and even internment. Things that were seen for what they were 40 years ago. With the only differance being it was unionists inflicting it apon Nationalists. Why would the fact that so called Nationalists be part of the regime inflicting the same now be accepted as differant. People have made lots of promises on the tail end of their self proclaimed vision and courage. Yet nothing has materialised apart from themselves getting fat as cats.
What these airheads do not realise is that the murderous campaign over the past decades has sullied the idea of a united Ireland, stained the image of republicans, spawned traitors, spies and touts like never before, and has resulted in the slaughter of hundreds of men women and children, born and unborn - and all for NOTHING. Decent Irish society will not support or tolerate any more of these murderers - no matter what their religion or politics are! The cause of 'Irish Freedom' has been reduced to tribal, evil, murderous treachery! There will be no support in the communities for this group of killers.
Seamus. is it difficult to ply out the old baby boom tactic. The one used by SF when they are getting it tough. The one where they deny the strength of a veto on any such vote.Thats only the next hurdle after convincing the SOS to allow such a vote ever taking place.
Mick. Just as well they didn`t throw Mandelo and a few others into the sea.lol
CitizenWhy. The game will be up and they`ll be exposed when they shake the queens hand.
Peterson. How can they be traitors when they remain faithful to the 1916 proclamation ? Its not their fault that Adams and Co accepted a referendum that excluded the 26 counties in total contridiction of inclusativity of all the people of Ireland to change the same. It is clearly Adams and Co who are the traitors intent on calling republicans criminals etc, just as the brits called Bobby Sands.
This new, utterly delusional IRA grouping must consist of a very small and ludicrous bunch of losers addicted to masturbation; otherwise they would behave like real men to unite Ireland. Nationalists must make babies instead of bombs so that things may be changed with ballots rather than bullets. Under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement, a majority vote is all that is required for the six occupied counties to reunite with the twenty six counties that make up the Republic of Ireland. Those in Northern Ireland in favor of joining the Republic must simply procreate and educate a Nationalist majority, who will grow up and vote for one Ireland! My message to this new IRA is "Let go of your selfishness delusions, and try having sex with another person!"
As long as there are people trying to keep alive the now disbanded IRA of the Troubles and loyalists who insist that the Troubles are NOT over, the peace process is not a done deal. Read your own history folks. While there are some differences in the way catholics and protestants approach a few issues, the Troubles was never a fight over whether catholics or protestants were right or wrong. It's a continuation of a messy, centuries-old conflict that began as a result of the role religion was playing in determining who could succeed to the English throne. After the creation of the Republic of Ireland, discord between catholic and protestant became a way to create an artificial class sytem and keep people from uniting under one cause - a unified Ireland - with the Troubles as a result. It is still a divide and conquer tactic intended to keep Unionist and Loyalists divided, and unfortulately in some areas it's still working. As a retired print media religion writer, I have seen first hand how small the differences are between protestant, anglican and catholic, and have written about how those differences have been successfully bridged to create stronger, healthier communities. That can happen in Ireland, if people and groups with their often self-serving agendas will just get out of the way.
They are traitors who exhibit how stupid they are !
To the Loyalist people living in Northern Ireland the 'war' is NOT over, and the 'troubles' are not a part of history. The ethnic cleansing being carried out in the border regions against the Protestant population is clear evidence of that. Members of victims groups of people brutally murdered by shoot in the back ira, or blown up by hidden bombs are denied funding by British government whilst terrorists are given £hundreds of millions. Murdering terrorists now sit in Government, supported by British and American rebel supporters, who seem to glorify terrorism. Is the murder of innocent women, children and unborn babies still worthy of American support?? I could say a lot more but it sickens me to recall all the atrocities committed by ira/sf and which are reported by the republican propaganda machine to enlist the support of 'friendly governments'.
