A new IRA group wants to threaten the peace process.

Yesterday the widely respected Guardian newspaper led with a story that an organization calling itself the IRA, composed of different factions of dissidents, has come together and is intent on threatening the Irish peace process.

The group is a sick joke.

The new grouping, which simply calls themselves the IRA, came together in Derry and told a Guardian journalist that a new and combined campaign against British rule would begin.

To which I say horse droppings.

For over a decade various dissident groups have tried to reignite war in Northern Ireland and failed spectacularly.

The war is over, the troubles are part of history, the new political order has the overwhelming support of the majority of all the people of Ireland.

Clearly some of the dissident groups have developed delusions of grandeur that they can change all the facts on the ground.

Maybe these new Desperate Dans need reality checks, or should try Viagra to prove their manhood if they need to threaten to kill fellow nationalists as well as unionists to prove their macho muscle.

Someone needs to tell the new and disimproved version of the IRA that they are fighting a lost war, that the train left the station some time around 1998 with the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.

The GFA is an attempt to find an agreed Ireland where every group and party can find access to power and be part of.

The power sharing government of Northern Ireland has smany problems but when you consder the alternative – IE this new “IRA” then you realize we have a lot to be thankful for.

Gerry Kelly former IRA leader and now a Northern Ireland Minister puts it best.

“This is further evidence that they have no strategy and their aims are as clear as mud. RAAD, for example, have claimed to be an anti-drugs group who have now joined a larger ‘dissident’ group with different aims. This move appears to be more to do with egos and personal fiefdoms than anything else.

“That is not to say that they cannot be dangerous,” Gerry Kelly cautioned.

“They have in the past killed people, the majority of whom have been from the nationalist community. However, these actions can take us nowhere.

"Meanwhile, they are happy to risk the lives and liberty of young, impressionable people to achieve nothing.

“There is no community support for these groups. They need to desist and they need to realise that they cannot achieve a united Ireland in this way

Amen to all that.

oh dear, oh dear
If Gerry Kelly had abided by his Irish republican principles then he would not have to address this situation arising again.Helping to forcefully marshal bigoted marchers of the terrorist orange order through the nationalist enclave of Ardoyne he will have no sympathy for his rantings from those wishing to ensure that this and other bigoted yearly rituals does not succeed in our nation.
Some say religion is merely a fabfication to ensure standards that will help weave society. Hard to imagine how many wars haven`t used them as an excuse in some way. Regardless I don`t like attacking anyones faith as those who live by theirs won`t do harm to anyone. "I will not do onto others what I would not like done onto me" covers all that I need as my religion.
AS I have stated before devil man I am an atheist. Your the mean spirited git who thinks your opinion is more correct, Typical British arrogance.AS for Pity!! you're full of it and self loathing to boot moron.
Got it.
Anyone know where the other article on the same subject went. Was hoping a reply from schon.
Belphagor.Catholics and Protestants can vote now yet we still have Gerrymandering, religious discrimination and Internment
Not my rantings sean-spice girl it's the usual drivel that spews out of that nasty mouth of yours. Why do you think I care where you were married, reigion is for weak minded sheep who are quite happy to be controlled by a hypocritical bunch of retards who don't practice what they preach, and stop dragging up the past will you, Catholics and protestants can vote now and stop playing the victim, i nearly feel sorry for you, not.
I married a Protestant in the presbyterian church. So much for your stupid imperialist rantings Belphagor. It's a Protestant secular anti Catholic state in the North caused all the problems of course you cannot come to terms with the truth. Ireland has had taoiseachs and ministers from all religions .But the north of old may have had a "token" Catholic in their midst ,I cannot remember one.Your the bigot Belphagor. Devil by name and devil by nature.
I know some very nice Irish Protestants.
Just what Ireland needs , They will solve all the problems
'No one is laughing'well except for moi. HAHAHAHA the new an improved IRA what a joke, if they want to return to the old days just kill one loyalist and see what happens. I read the same old crap from those die hard dissidents living in Australia and USA recycling the same old British imperialist crap. The majority of people in ireland have had enough of these fascist terrorists, and your ideals of a secular ireland were it seems everyone including Polish, Romanian and Czech's can be irish except Protestants. Racist Fascist Sectarian Gimps the lot of you.
Forcing British 'military' presence out of Ireland - rather than threatening a peace process? All nationalisms about ethnic or racial ego - whether British or Irish! Don't mean to be unduly phallic, but question is - which one is the biggest? Good Friday Agreement (GFA) for some a GMA (Genitically Modified Agreement)! Northern Irish Rail (NIR) lifting tracts on Belfast to Derry/Lundyderry line for improvement. No train leaving either station for 12 months! Irish republican paramilitarism a symptom of British imperialism. When do we cure the diasease? Successive generations of British Army working class squaddies brough up on stable literary diet of imperialistic militaristic comic (graphic novel) books - like Hotspur and Victor! Desensitised social conditioning? AAARGH! GURUMPH! BANG! CRAASH! WALLOP! GRRRR! THUD!??? What does that do to one's appreciation of literature? Ballot boxes in gerrymandered states of limited effect. Hence, bombs and bullets regrettably. Still, however imperfect, a Genitically Modified Agreement seems to be the best game in town over time. Howld yer fire, lads!
Thats a big machine with 40 years expierance in propaganda. More so now that it is aided by the might of the british press and all the payoff from the british treasurey that now funds a lot of community projects. I would welcome such a move but again people are so pissed off with poiticians of all shades. As Darky Hughs rightfully said "to be a politician ,you must first be a good liar. To be a good politician you must be an excellant liar, unfortunately SF now have several excellant liars". We can only acept the fact that Irish Republicanism has been set back by decades due to a misleading leadership who have turned out to be anything but socialists.
Seemingly the GFA is not the success it's purported to be.It would be better if dissident republicans ran a massive united campaign at the ballot box against Sinn Fein. Then we would know who is right.
