Bill O'Reilly far outshines one trick Glenn Beck in live show

The sold out show featuring Bill O'Reilly and Glen Beck at the Westbury Music Fair on Long Island on Saturday night proved one thing above all others.

O'Reilly is a serious conservative commentator worth listening to while Glenn Beck is a one trick pony who knows how to rabble rouse and little else .

Beck has one note all night, hitting the 'elites' who run the country. Last time I looked Barack Obama was an African American born to a single mother who went on welfare for a time. He hardly started with a silver spoon in his mouth.

The world seems a very simple place for Beck,always black and white, good and bad, no confusing states of gray. Simpletons often believe that. O'Reilly has a far more nuanced view.

O'Reilly, for instance, is far more nuanced about the president " I don't have anything against Barack Obama he said . . . I think he's a smart guy who doesn't understand you."Fair enough.

Beck literally got on his knees to say 'Thank you Jesus' for the election of Scott Brown over Martha Coakley in Massachusetts. Wouldn't Jesus have more important things to do than worry over who won a senate race? Not according to Beck.

Newsday quoted Robert Zimmerman, a Democratic National Committeeman, who was at the event with some Republican friends "I respect Bill O'Reilly for his independence and his intellect," said Zimmerman. He added, "I can't say the same for Beck, who is essentially a right-wing Atlantic City lounge act."

I can't disagree with that.

O'Reilly a local boy made good referred to the kind of blue collar kids he played with as a kid and their distrust of the 'pinheads' on both sides in Washington. The crowds loved it.

One of those pinheads is undoubtedly Bill Maher who appeared in the same venue last week. The crowd was double the size at the O'Reilly/Beck event. Perhaps that says where people's anger is directed right now.

O'Dowd, your liberal jelousy is showing once again and it's great fun to watch you all squirm at what Beck states, if he is so wrong, whu=y don't you challenge him on his stories? Afraid he's right? I think so. Pat Flynn Lantana Texas

Can't wait to see Beck, and will tolerate O'Reilly to do so. Your prejudice for Obama has long been known, but Beck is the one with the hard, cold facts. That's why he's important.

Glen Beck is a wonderful person, intelligent, rich, and my brother. Are you upset that he is successful? Bill is a different of entertainer with a different style. Are you less jealous of him? Or , are you dumping on one successful man to sound more educated when you praise Bill?

I agree most whole heartedly-Beck is a circus clown masquerading as a serious pundit. I may not agree with O'Reilly but at least I can respect him.

It’s easier to kill the messenger then read the message, and that is your approach to Beck. You must have a short attention span if that he is making funny faces occasionally, or you irritating jokes, is derailing you from the facts he is presenting.

O'Reilly maintains he a tough independent but usually softens when confronted with an adversary. Beck tries to back is commentary with fact based sources rather than giving an O'Reilly type opinionated lecture. O'Reilly tries to be conservative, independent, and perhaps liberal, depending on his counterpart.

Fox turns back on Haiti....O'Reilly and Beck always "bloviate" about how huge their audience is. This would have been a great opportunity for this self promoted "so Christian" Fox News, to do God's work.Wonder what their answer would be?

Niall, On Saturday night, did anyone ask O'Reilly or Beck why "Fox News" was the only major station to turn their back on the the two hour "Hope for Haiti" telethon?

Beck and O'Reilly are both where it's at. Fox is the only station worth watching. The other stations truly consist of lousy loons. Maher is disgusting along with Christ Matthews, both of whom love to hear themselves talk but anyone with a real working brain is totally turned off.
