Bill O'Reilly and Fox News will definitely kill Lincoln

Bill O'Reilly will kill Lincoln all right. His upcoming book entitled 'Killing Lincoln' will allegedly be an insight into the death of our most famous president, as viewed through the eyes of a Fox News anchor.

This should make interesting reading. Will O'Reilly divine what ' the folks' at the time really felt about Lincoln? Will his talking points memo say that Lincoln moved to quick too soon on that pesky Negro emancipation stuff ?

Will John Wilkes Booths' brothers, supporters, Tea Party links be explored? Were there co- conspirators? Where was General Grant on the night in question? Cui bono--who benefited?

Did Booth really break his ankle when he jumped on to the stage at the Ford Theater? Perhaps two modern day doctors could dispute.

Then there's the gun Wilkes Booth had. He was perfectly entitled to own it of course, he needed it like all God fearing Americans. besides, he saw what Sherman did to the south and he was merely using it for self protection.

And what about Mrs Lincoln? Was she having an affair? Get Geraldo on here to discuss. Perhaps she was having it off with Edward Stanton, who remains a mysterious figure in all of this?

Haven't you heard that the Booth diary was missing eighteen pages and that Stanton might have torn them out? -- heck its Lincolngate!

Heath care! Did Lincoln get the proper care? The hospital was government run so clearly not. Newt Gingrich can explain why.

Up next Fox News will discuss the death of Julius Caesar and ask was Anthony really guilty or was he just worried about a communist takeover. Glenn Beck will lead the discussion

And maybe a drunk driver drove off a bridge with Booth, and all the apologists will say that Booth died of a broken ankle, and Ted kennedy was a hero who tried to save him.
Now they can pay Malkin to write a social history of the USA.Did Lincoln sleep with his bodyguard? Fox did a synopsis on this point some time ago, don't ask don't tell.
The cheek of this hack has no limit.
and I know it's "express"...
I like Niall's columns, though I do disagree with many of them. We gain nothing in personal intelligence if we simply say we are not going to read the magazine/site again. That solves nothing and makes us more ignorant. The only way to learn and espress your views is to stay engaged.
Niall please dont tell anybody you are irish, please i beg you.
Pointless article Niall. You're better than this!
Why do people that don't like this paper continue to read it and then trash it? It's like an on-off button: if you don't like this site, don't go it. It's really simple. You don't like the column, go somewhere else - stop trashing what you don't otherwise comprehend.
OUCH!!!
This was one of the most biased, truly close-minded, not funny columns I have ever read. And what does Fox News have to do with a book Bill O'Rielly wrote? I haven't been much of a fan of Bill O'Rielly but I'd much rather spend my spare time reading something he wrote than to EVER read one of your columns again. You've completely lost credibility and even any humorous value you may have had in the past. You're a pathetic excuse for a columnist.
Oh, and one other thing. Consider Doris Kearns Goodwin, noted historian. And how much of her work was plagiarism? If we were talking George Clooney I might agree with you. Because O'Reilly is a television "star" does not in itself disqualify him.
Niall, operative phrase "that you know of". Possibly you should check his credentials. Don't be an effite snob. I might agree with you, but would not make that reflection until I determined whether or not he had credentials.
I think we need qualified historians to deal with the death of Lincoln, not tv stars is all I am saying. Bill O'Reilly is a highly educated and smart guy but he has no qualification that I know of to analyze historical events
Niall, I'm really surprised Bill Clinton wasn't rushed to Canada for his recent heart procedure. Will I be accorded the same medical care at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC under Obamacare? I don't think so.
Niall, out of curiosity, what does it mean "setting himself up as an expert..."? What makes Gore Vidal more an expert on Lincoln that O'Reilly? I seriusly doubt O'Reilly woke up this morning and said..."and today I'm and expert on...". Only Obama does that. Sorry, couldn't resist. I actually like your writing, though I disagree with much of it, and consider you an expert on many things. How did you get that way?
