Witchcraft tape may sink Christine O'Donnell in Delaware senate race

A tape showing Delaware senate candidate Christine O'Donnell talking about her dabbling in witchcraft will surely be the hardest development for her right wing coalition to accept.

It is one thing to be against masturbation, it is quite another to admit that you took part in pagan rituals and attended a picnic on a Satanic altar.

Irish American O'Donnell has now admitted in an old clip from comedian Bill Maher's program -- of all places-- that she took part in witchcraft rituals.

Quite how this will play out in Tea Party America is not clear, but it certainly adds an interesting kooky edge to a character who probably had too many already.

The remarkable clip – which was aired this weekend – has rocked the campaign of the conservative politician, a new darling of the Tea Party movement and Sarah Palin.

One can only imagine their reaction to the following words spoken by O'Donnell

"I dabbled into witchcraft - I never joined a coven. But I did, I did. ... I dabbled into witchcraft,” Miss O’Donnell said,

“I hung around people who were doing these things. I'm not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do.

"One of my first dates with a witch was on a Satanic altar, and I didn't know it. I mean, there's a little blood there and stuff like that. ... We went to a movie and then had a midnight picnic on a Satanic altar."

O’Donnell has now cancelled Sunday morning appearances on two major political television shows as this new controversy swirls.

Just late last week O'Donnell had told a crowd of cheering conservatives that "They call us wacky, they call us wingnuts. We call us, we the people," she said to cheers.

Whether the people will accept witchcraft remains to be seen however.

You are beginning to get a bit shrill lad, cool down and take a deep breath, close your eyes and pretend you see a new Irish person in the white house being sworn in...President O'Donnell after serving 10 years in the senate, working with President Palin with distinction, spearheading immigration reform, balancing the budget, disarming Iran and North Korea, bringing the US unemployment rate down to 3.2% and chairing the Senate blue ribbon committe which saw the conviction and executions of members of the obama administration, barney frank, chris dodd and governor cuomo, for treason and corruption charges....There isn't that a comforting vision lad?

O'Donnell looked pretty nervous to me, maloney. It's as if she couldn't believe she was getting such softball quesions and was half expecting some kind of trap. But Hannity showed why he's the go-to guy for Republicans who don't want to face a real journalist.

Attaboy, Sean! Just when people were questioning why you're still on the air, you came out and showed 'em. I especially loved how he pretended to believe her when she said she fell behind on her mortgage because she was doing pro bono work for some little old lady. I forget why the little old lady needed pro bono public relations, but O'Donnell made it sound desperate. No wonder she couldn't face real journalists, they'd laugh out loud!

Was it not Kissinger who had to keep an eye on Nixon. Kissinger (in memoirs)claiming tricky Dicky wanted to nuke the Russians on several occasions on a whim.Then we had Goldwater another right winger who wanted to nuke the Russians and to top it all off MacArthur wanted to nuke the Chinese.You Republicans sure know how to blow off nuclear steam. The rest of the world (me included)do not trust your teaparty wing nuts for a lot of reasons including their blood lusting taste for war,God and greed.

Try to keep up, Monsoonman. Hillary hasn't been popular with the left since she voted for the war in Iraq back in 2003. She wasn't all that popular among leftists even before then.

The White House is full of ghosts, so it's not surprising that Hillary would channel Eleanor Roosevelt. In The Final Days, Woodward and Bernstein's book about the aftermath of Watergate, a drunken Richard Nixon staggers through the White House saying good-bye to the paintings on the wall. And here's the amazing part - people actually wept when Nixon died. Go figure.

I remember hillary, the heroin(not a typo) of the socialists here, was channeling eleanor roosevelt while she was "first lady" (among the dozens of bills consorts). Why no mention of that? Why no outrage or ridicule? Because she was only first lady then? O'Donnel was only a teenager when she was involved with her "witchcraft"...Hillary was a seasoned lawyer in her 40's when she was channeling Eleanor. Or is it because we really need to vet someone carefully who is going to be in a position of a powerful Senator? But Hillary was the Senator from New York, I heard not a whimper out of any of you and now she is in an utmost important position, secretary of state, she could start a nuclear war for crying out loud, she could be in a seance right now and we don't even know it....Better get your hypocrisy straightened out.

Saw Hannity through Dorothy Dixers at Christine today. MY!! she almost sounded plausible. Bubbly eyed Hannity sat there getting his rocks off staring into those witches eyes. I wonder was he humming "that old black magic".

Is Christine O'Donnell connected with Opus Dei? This whole chastity chic thing may be a front for this shadowy group. There's no real evidence that she is, but the notion that ordinary people are called to live holy lives comes from Josemaria Escriva, the founder of Opus Dei. The chastity dot com website explicitly acknowleges a connection by quoting him favorably.

O'Donnell would probably prefer to be thought of as a witch than be found out as Opus Dei. Before the November election, some enterprising reporter will compare O'Donnell's speeches with sayings from The Way, which was written by Escriva and has become the Little Red Book of the movement. Who would have thought that the ultra-patriotic Tea Party movement would field a candidate who's a member of a foreign cult?
