Why I don't want to win the mega millions jackpot ever

So what would I do if I won the mega millions lottery.

Nothing.

If nothing else with age comes blessed grace and the ability to distinguish between a dream and a reality.

We would all love to think our problems would disappear if we landed the jackpot.

That is palpably not true as we look at the sad trail of destruction that lottery winners in many cases have left behind them.

The New York Post had a series of profiles of winners but losers. Everyone one of them deeply regretted winning.

So I wouldn't want to win to be honest.

Life's not perfect by any means, but why throw a new spanner in the world by adding millions of dollars.

Sure it would be very exciting for a period but ultimately the horrible reality that my job no longer mattered, that my friends and extended family saw me as a cash machine not a valued friend or family member would hit hardest of all.

In the end what do we have but love of family and a deep friendship with those closest to us.

So count me out. I want to stay normal.

So no lottery tickets for me thanks , but good luck to anyone who wants to win.

@realcatholic but you cant win as god is not on your side. You need to be like me a real protestant, free presbyternian and saved. At the right hand of the REV IAN. For God and Ulster. Praying to jesus is no good it has to be the man himself. GOD ALMIGHTY.

angrypaddy, I bought 2 tickets, if you read my last post. A "2" was the only number, on 2 lines of Mega Millions, which was drawn. What the heck, it is always worth a try. I was just speculating about the pitfalls of winning, which is the subject of Patrick Roberts' article. Gee, you surely live up to your name!

My 2 Mega tickets produced exactly 1 number-#2, in the big drawing yesterday! I have thought about winning millions. The 1st thing I would be concerned about is the gold diggers. So many women, who never gave me a first, let alone a 2nd look, would now be clamoring to go out with me! At one point in my life, I would have LOVED this! Even now, the prospect is inspiring. Yet, I should know, deep down, that once the money ran out, so would the girls. Some people would advise me to "enjoy it, while it lasted". To that I say that if I developed deep, loving feelings for a woman, I would be emotionally distraught when she walked out the proverbial door. The worst thing that any big winner can think is that he "has the world by a string". If he isn't careful, the world will have HIM by the string! So, I may fantasize about winning big, and then saying to all unmarried women, "Dates talk; sisterly friendships, "I'm too busys", "I don't think so's" and even MONEY walks! In reality, those gals would size me up as a sucker, and I would be playing into their hand! Having said all this, I still feel it would be nice to win big, but hopefully, I would be very cautious, where the ladies are concerned! One more comment. Remember the scene in Psycho III, where Norman Bates (played by Anthony Perkins) offers to buy a woman a drink, but she brushes him off. She is a reporter, and when she hears that he is Norman Bates, she smiles, and says, "Let ME buy YOU a drink"! That scene sums up how many women operate: They are not interested, UNLESS, or UNTIL an ulterior motive presents itself!

If you dont want to win then dont buy a ticket. Simples. That is your choice.
