Why Chris Christie should not run -- the media just want someone else to tear down

Chris Christie is coming under intense pressure to throw his hat in the ring for the 2012 presidential race.

The New York Times is reporting that a high- level gathering of Christie aides are meeting this weekend to plan a strategy.

The Times reports that those pushing Christie to run include the media mogul Rupert Murdoch, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Nancy Reagan and the conservative columnist William Kristol.

To which I say don't run Chris.

Like all the other candidates before like Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry in particular, the media is trying to lure you in in order to start tearing you down.

The media has the attention span of a nano-second and with Perry foundering they are distraught at the idea that they will spend the next year covering the bland Romney and the buttoned down version of Obama.

Christie isn't bland, he's big bluff and controversial, in other words a media man's delight.

He screams, he hollers, he interjects. great stuff for media coverage.

But reality bites.

Christie has left it too late. He is unexposed with less than two years on the national stage.

He is not ready for prime time yet-- and he knows it deep down.

But it is highly flattering when major moguls and legendary GOP types are coming knocking on your door.

But he should remember he's only 49 with a lot of politics ahead of him.

He should resist the poisoned apple and stay where he is.

seanomelbourne nailed that one: "crawl back . . . and leave the world to those who care." Yeah, it's encouraging to know that some/most at IC do care.
2B!! maybe you should crawl back into your tralier with a bottle of moonshine and leave the world to those who care.Turn on your radio(you probably cannot afford a TV) and listen to The doyen of bullsh--t Rush Limbo.

give the guy a break already will ya?!! he said he's not ready for that position & he wants to finish the job he started as NJ's gov. (not like another gov who left their state & it's totally screwed up now! & no i am not talkin' about Palin)but i do think he should run in the future. i like his way of thinking (so far).
I Have to agree chris is not ready to run. the press needs to gather more Grit & Dirt on Chris lol. lets face it the press would crucifi Jesus Christ if he were running for president. they love to Publish trashy False information.
Spoken like a true entitlement addict. Pigs at the slop trough become 'wild boars' if the farmer tries to pull them back from bursting their gut and/or breaking the farmer's bank account with their unrestrained gluttony.
I firmly beleive that 666-tie should run! That would give this former NJ-ite a second chance to check "NO" next to his name. Of course, having him in DC rather than Trenton, would give the Garden State a bit of good luck. Getting him out of the Third State would give those High Point to Cape May folks a real 4 Leaf Clover!!!! Also, the Supreme Court may force him to be unable to get his own way non-stop if he winds up in the White House.
wall street wants him to run..
Hey seanO'Malborn - why don't you go stifle yourself. Find another humpable kangaroo in your own land willing to listen to your meddling ways as you whisper sweet nothings in his ear while inserting your unwanted opinion in 'his business.' Take care of Irish and Aussie matters down under, and lay off those of the US which do not concern you and no one appreciates.
Christie should take the next four years to drop about 100 pounds so he doesn't look so ridiculous "running" for President. He is terrible example to our youth!
Christie another right wing hack.
Hi 2BorNot2b - He's egotistical because he's egotistical. Just watch him bantering with the press about why he should not be flying state helicopters to see little league games (he caved later), or with a constituent about why he is gutting public education while sending his own kids to private schools. Dirty little secret - I dislike him less than I do the other Repub candidates. As for Lincoln, he based his career on being extraordinarily honest. Same does not apply for a man who spent months saying "No, not every absolutely not, not now, not for me," and now says, "well, maybe."
How exactly is repeating a word several times in one sentence, even if it happens to be the word Reagan qualify anyone as ego-driven? Are democRATS now also dictating the rules so as to brand someone an ego-maniac on the basis of admiration to someone considered a hero? -- There's a good reason why Lincoln did not start the RAT party, he might have known in advance 'quality' among them would be non-existent. Wise man Lincoln was!
The only thing bigger than this man's waistline is his ego which, if it were a landmass would qualify for the status of continent. I almost lost my dinner when I saw him eating up the attention the other night when he went for the Guinness World Record of saying "Reagan" in one paragraph. Lincoln would be turning over in his grave at the quality of people leading the party he started.
As I said before Nicoearwax, the stupid sheeple who voted him in... attention span of a gnat.. dazzled by Hollywood manufactured externals.. you fully prove my point!
