| Newt Gingrich and his wife Callista |

I see that polls show that Gingrich won in SC even among "evangelical Christians". Nothing surprises me about the Bible Bums. They whine about family values and then vote for a serial adulterer, They talk about Christian love yet are first to urge the use of the bomb and the bullet overseas. It's disgusting to see that the Bible Bums are making inroads in Ireland. We've even seen some nonsense from Bible Bum Oirish posted on this site.

Re reading the article, he is. Boy those Canon Lawyers would have raked it in.

How in hell a man who can't run his household, changing wives like dirtysocks run a country. Just as well he isn't catholic, he'd have a problem with annulments. Then maybe not, if the price is right.

****Ok Irish Central here we go again****You have a malfunction with your blogger software. I did NOT post the post below showing in the name of McNamara31 which states: OK tom/peggy and faberm1.. How about Newt's record? Eighty-four ethics charges were filed against Speaker Gingrich during his term. Following an investigation by the House Ethics Committee Gingrich was sanctioned US$300,000 on a 395-28 House vote****IC can you PLEASE finally fix this situation!

Newts denial about bringing up divorce proceedings the day after his wifes surgery was denunked by his daughter and his former pastor. How newt washes his hands of disgust and pretend that negative events never happened.

Patrick you are sick to write such an article. Go write about John, Bobby and Teddy Kennedy. Better yet, start with their father and end up with the grandsons. What a saintly group.
John G. Hogan | Dec 11, 2011, 05:56 AM EST
At least Newt married them............klintoon r.... them and then lied about it
stanJames | Dec 11, 2011, 01:22 AM EST
We all know about Newt and his wives etc. Of course his party is the moral values group, what a sham..............As big as the church claiming there were no molestations of children and then we find it all over the world.............the worst part of the crime is they knew it, hid it and even moved many of the vile priests to new locations.....Where they continued to get the collection plate filled and the same re the childrens orifices..................And of course the church once again proved its hypocrisy - by taking in a man who is helping to destroy marriage.

The GOP are tearing their hair out because they cannot find an Obama sex scandal.Fox tried to scandalise him with guilt by association and failed. Then again the only truth at Fox lies on the cutting room floor.Gingrich is a proven dishonest politician,he would denigrate the office of POTUS.His latest comment denying the existence of Palestine is historically incorrect and reprehensible
Woodman | Dec 10, 2011, 07:31 PM EST
failteroibeard Tiger Woods - the wife hired an investigator, and looked through his cell phone, planning for a lucrative divorce. So, you need to get Michelle Obama working with the birthers, and then you'd be set. She'd be nasty I think.
cillowen | Dec 10, 2011, 07:28 PM EST
cunning cockroach went catholic based on changing demographics of american society. Church which makes exceptions for such a clown is another of its problematic contradictions.

What has Dowd against Hannah Montana anyway?
SingleDonald | Dec 10, 2011, 07:06 PM EST
SeamusMartin, The way I understand it, Newt Gingrich persued HIS high school geometry teacher, who was 8 years older than him. He left her, when she was going through ovarian cancer.
faberm1 | Dec 10, 2011, 06:10 PM EST
@failterolbeard: Aontaim leat go leor leor! Tá an ceart agat ar fad. (I agree with you so so much. You are totally right. ) This article begs another question. When will the owners of this paper understand that Irish American don't appreciate their leftist, socialist views. This is not 1860 and we are not ruled by Union bosses and cheap politicians promising us food in our dishes. We are successful fully integrated Americans who are some of the leading entrepreneurs in this great country! Such socialistic views have put Ireland in the toilet, and they sure won't work here. Take them back to Ireland where they might sell.

Isn't it amazing that, within only one week of Tiger Woods crashing his Escalade, the press found every woman with whom Tiger has had an affair during the last few years? And, they even uncovered photos, text messages, recorded phone calls, etc.! Furthermore, they not only know the cause of the family fight, but they even know it was a 9 iron from his golf bag that his wife used to break out the windows in the Escalade. Not only that, they know which wedge! And, each & every day, they were able to continue to provide America with updates on Tiger's sex rehab stay, his wife's divorce settlement figures, as well as the dates & tournaments in which he will play. Now, Barack Hussein Obama has been in office for almost three years, yet this very same press: • Cannot find any of his childhood friends or neighbors; • Or find any of Obama's high school or college classmates; • Or locate any of his college papers or grades; • Or locate any of his lovers both gay and straight; • Or determine how he paid for both a Columbia & a Harvard education; • Or discover which country issued his visa to travel to Pakistan in the 1980's; • Or even find Michelle Obama's Princeton thesis on racism; •Or locate any information on his past life story; • Or find his original unedited birth certificate. They just can't seem to uncover any of this. Yet, the public still trusts that same press to give them the whole truth! Find that totally amazing. Ní féidir leat an t-uisce a ghlanadh suas go dtí go bhfaigheann tú an muc amach as an sruth. (You cannot get the water to clear up until you get the pigs out of the creek.)
Scrivner | Dec 10, 2011, 03:37 PM EST
JamTheCat, I have a longer term memory than you. Had to put up with ten years (2 terms year before and after) of GW being compared to Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot (interstingly, never Mao, guess that his critics still relish their little red books). How can we forget those email photos of George morphing into a baboon--how bloody racist of you all! Bill Clinton presided over a fine economic expansion...but only after Newt led the GOP to victory in Congress with his Contract for America. Coincidence?
jamthecat | Dec 10, 2011, 02:43 PM EST
Ooooo-poets99, must be wonderful to have such a short term memory. Why I can recall all the birthers who claimed O wasn't even born in the US, and the comparisons made between O and Hitler and Mao and the veiled racism and the ludicrous claims of death panels and on and on. But it's only Democrats who go for character assassination. Right. No, you keep on hating in your own little world and supporting full-fledged hypocrites like Newtie, who has all the moral fiber of a scorpion. It would serve you right if he won and proved how much of a two-faced piece of dog-meat he is. Oops...there goes my tendency towards character assassination, again. Guess I've been taking lessons from Newt.
wilhoef | Dec 10, 2011, 02:09 PM EST
Root for Newt!!!
Opoets99 | Dec 10, 2011, 01:51 PM EST
Since democrats can't debate the real issues that affect the country they fall back on the old democrat tactic of personal attacks and character asassination. How is it that obama never has to answer a question? Is it because he is only capable of reading prepared speech's off the teleprompter and has little idea what he is reading, like calling a Navy corpsman a "corpse man" How come no one asks him who paid for his college education? How come no one in Columbia University remembers him being there? How is it you haven't created a sinle new job in 3 years? You like to blame all our problems on Pres Bush, but you spent $3Trillion that have not created jobs or improved the economy. Where did the money go Mr President? Is the answer the same as Jon Corzine's when asked where $1.2 Billion disappeared to? "I simply don't know" Say what you want about Gingrich or any other candidate but, quite frankly, the dog catcher would do a better job than b hussein obama
PhlutiePhan | Dec 10, 2011, 10:52 AM EST
As an Irish American Navy veteran who is conservative, I believe that it is important to look at the background of Mr. Gingrich. The glass has to be half full and the conservative candidate has to be exemplary. The Kennedy and Clinton lifestyle are just not acceptable. The links of Mr. Gingrich to Fannie Mae (1.6 million retainer) are quite inexplicable. Romney has to step it up to see where things stand. I met Mr. G at a book signing. He talks a good game. Therefore, it is the duty of the press to dig. However, it is wisely said that the same does not hold true for Mr. Obama.
faberm1 | Dec 10, 2011, 10:34 AM EST
@McNamara31: I am adding balance to this non-sensical personal attack article on Gingrich. The purpose of this article is to dis-credit him personally, thereby disqualifying him for president. It is written with the shroud of being a legitimate look "at his marriages". That is disgenuine and it is bullshxt. I am a Ron Paul supporter, but I will vote for Gingrich anytime, any day if Paul is not nominated. His alleged "ethics violations" pale in comparison to the viciousness and destructiveness that this administration seeks to impose on this country. Colkelley said it best. We've had enough of the "manchurian candidate". What is he hiding? What has he hidden? Why has his past been erased? Where is his past? Whey has it been sealed? This stuff is scary.
CitizenWhy | Dec 10, 2011, 10:31 AM EST
Now, now, now, if Newtie become the Republican candidate and (gasp) the President he will simply have to stick with his current ultra-Catholic wife until he's out of the race or out of office. Then he can dump her.
colkelley | Dec 10, 2011, 10:21 AM EST
And we still know nothing at all about Obama...not a single page of his school records...not a single girl or woman he ever dated...nobody in the same classes in the same major in the same year remembers Obama at all...he has a phantom past about which the American public is allowed to know nothing at all by Court Order obtained by Obama and his cronies. I would rather know all of the mistakes made by a candidate (and assume they learned from those mistakes) than have a Manchurian Candidate for President as we currently have.
McNamara31 | Dec 10, 2011, 09:59 AM EST
OK tom/peggy and faberm1.. How about Newt's record? Eighty-four ethics charges were filed against Speaker Gingrich during his term. Following an investigation by the House Ethics Committee Gingrich was sanctioned US$300,000 on a 395-28 House vote
faberm1 | Dec 10, 2011, 09:39 AM EST
This article is total bullshxt! I don't care if Newt Gingrich has been married twice before or 7 times before. He is an incredible mind and would be infinitely better for this country than what we have now. Just because Bill Clinton used cigars as sex toys with young interns didn't disqualify him from presiding over the best economy in recent national history. I also like the fact that Newt has a good Scotch Irish mind and that alone will help us. (His born name is I believe MacPherson).
tom/peggy | Dec 10, 2011, 09:29 AM EST
If his name was Kennedy this would be irrelevant. Will you be doing a column on the many friends of Barrack Obama?
Ratslayer | Dec 09, 2011, 05:54 PM EST
TYPICAL DIRTBAG REPUBLICAN. Why is evil Monster still walking the streets?
McNamara31 | Dec 09, 2011, 04:56 PM EST
Everyone knows Newt’s past life full of infidelities, leaving one wife with cancer, and the other with MS. Now Newt and Calista are parading around spouting family values and we are supposed to believe he has had all past transgressions wiped away just in time for the 2012 election cycle by converting to Catholicism. I tend to watch a man’s actions rather than his words. It would be very depressing if this man were to become America’s second Irish American president.
seanomelbourne | Dec 09, 2011, 04:40 PM EST
Multiple marriages is not his only problem he was found guilty by the house ethics committe for his UNETHICAL behaviour. Now he wants John "nuke 'em" Bolton as secretary of state. The crazies are taking over the asylum. Where's Jack Nicholson we need a pied piper to steer them over the cliff.
GeorgeDillon | Dec 09, 2011, 02:35 PM EST
This guy reminds me of Henry the Eighth. Makes Mitt Romney look normal and likable. But I'll be voting for Ron Paul.
SeamusMartin | Dec 09, 2011, 12:29 PM EST
I don'tcare how many times a person is married or affairs, but checking further one finds the ol' Newt married a girl he taught as a high school teacher, and left one on her deathbed. What a wonderful kind of person to represent the Moral Majority!
jamieLM | Dec 09, 2011, 10:11 AM EST
Is your rehash on Newt's marital life really necessary? We get it that you can't tolerate him, since you're on the far left and hardly "fair and balanced" in your political views. Your column is like "preaching to the choir" for all the anti-Newt people and you're not going to change any pro-Newt people's minds. Evidently the RCC wasn't too offended and were able to excuse Newt's marital past, since they took him in as a member. But then there are the people who find Newt's policies and past performance in the political arena even more offensive than his marital past. Newt hasn't won anything yet, even though he has his supporters.
