Thank You President Obama for...
By: Patrick Roberts | Published Thursday, March 31, 2011, 4:25 PM | Updated Friday, September 9, 2011, 10:09 PM

- Thank you for…... the "room-lighting" smile:
- For the mind that is always thinking:
- For preventing a second Great Depression:
- For the humor:
- For bringing the number of women in the Supreme Court to 3.:
- For making the White House the "people's" house:
- For 1.1 million jobs created in 2010 alone, more than the entire 8 years of George W. Bush:
- For The Penny Ice Creamery in Santa Cruz, California:
- For the love of people:
- For the love of family:
- For America's First Lady:
- For Health Care reform:
- For leaving the past behind:
- For the world having respect for America, again:
- For quietly and calmly dealing with crisis after crisis, after crisis, after crisis, even if not being responsible for any of them:
- For being so "cool":
- For being fierce - when need be:
- For having the intellect to be curious:
- For the capacity to know that you are, as we are, imperfect¦.
- For having the sense to not let it destroy you¦
- For the capacity to be compassionate:
- For being an inspiration to so many:
- For saving the auto industry and at least 1.4 million jobs:
- For loving the troops:
- For understanding the horrible price of war:
- For bringing 100,000 men and women back from Iraq:
- For facing the most difficult and loneliest job in the world with grace, dignity, honesty and guts in spite of so many "Haters":
- For being, in spite of all the hate, pettiness, racism, corruption and immaturity around, the most progressive president in decades:
And simply for this:
For Being...................."MR. PRESIDENT"!

this belongs in a joke book !!!!! By the way if he created 1.1 million jobs they must have been in other countries because they were not created in the U.S.A. look at the unemployment records !

Fox News reports that 69 % of U.S. is not happy with what he and his party have done to their country. Where the hell did you get that list ??

Ovomit is understood only to well. midlandsmiss...speak for yourself, you may be lucky he is your potus if the downfall of America is your goal but he is not my President.
midlandsmiss | Apr 12, 2011, 03:40 PM EDT
Thank you for this article. Pres. Obama took on a tough job at the toughest time in America, especially after the eight years of Republicans stuffing the pockets of the rich while ignoring the middle class and the poor. We are lucky to have him as our President. It's so sad to read the racists comments here. People fear what they do not understand.
BoraBora98 | Apr 09, 2011, 07:40 AM EDT
Your lies about transparency.

Lets not forget to thank the big O for spending more money in Feb. of 2011 than Bush did the entire year of 2007. Great job facist. Let's see how you are going to get the military to follow your martial law order when the dollar folds, the banks all close, all assets are frozen and the people are rioting in the streets.

The first words that came to mind when I read this was the title of the dance President Obama and the First Lady danced to at one of the inauguration balls - At Last. How refreshing to read - at last, - something positive on Irish Central about our president. Thank you Patrick for expressing what a great many Americans feel about him and his presidency. My Dublin born mother used to say if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all - so give it a rest all of you nay-sayers who are posting such negative responses; they are an embarrassment.
maireadinmelb | Apr 05, 2011, 05:19 AM EDT
Best summation of American politics in a while!
Mike7571 | Apr 04, 2011, 10:56 PM EDT
Thank you for showing us that any old coke head, without showing his papers, without any managerial experience, who can't speak without a teleprompter can get elected President. Thank you for showing us how far we have fallen in this country, maybe, just maybe we will wake up and realize what we have become.
seanomelbourne | Apr 04, 2011, 07:00 PM EDT
Just look what you have done Patrick. You have awakened the sleeping bigots and naysayers.I can hear them crawling out of their trailers begging for some of O'Reilly's kool-aid.

This is a work in progress, so lets stick with it. Change is coming slowly but it is coming
sasullivan47 | Apr 04, 2011, 12:56 PM EDT
Well, if this were all true it would be nice but 'tis not true in any way, matter or form!!!!!
hjfarmer | Apr 04, 2011, 10:32 AM EDT
Disgusting, especially when so many of these things are absolutley incorrect. Some countries (muslim) LIKE(D)the US better, although that has changed in recent weeks--there are no countries that RESPECT the US more. And leaving the past behind.. give me a break. In his Libya speech he took swipes at both Clinton and Bush; and how about his apology tour? Yeah he is forgetting things like terrorist attacks on the US and those who committed such heinous acts. Finally, the Iraq withdrawal plan was scheduled before he took office; thank you Mr President for not screwing that up. No thank you, Irish Central.
gerald1947 | Apr 04, 2011, 09:29 AM EDT
I didn't know they had kool-aid in Ireland , God bless Ireland & God bless America .

What a joke Irish Central is to allow this to be published
floridafinn | Apr 04, 2011, 09:12 AM EDT
Thank you, Patrick. A positive article with such negative, racist reaction. I for one am pleased with some, not all, of his accomplishments. The terms someone used 'fools and tools' is spot on for his naysayers. Again, Bush2 ran us into the ground and now no Republicans will be responsible for it. Where were all those budget balancers in those 8 years? Shame on youse, eejits!
ginagilmer | Apr 04, 2011, 08:04 AM EDT
Enjoy OBAMA while you can because most Americans from both parties I have asked don't like him. I don't care one whit about it one way or the other, because it is the rich elite that make the rules all over the world. Get ready for the One World Goverment. The rest of us are just serfs.

AMAZING SO MANY IGNORANT PEOPLE OUT THERE ---- WE CANNOT FIND ANY SCHOOL FRIENDS OF HIS WE CANNOT FIND ANY COLLEGE PAPERS HE WROTE WE CANNOT FIND OUT HOW HE PAID FOR COLUMBIA OR HARVARD WE CANNOT FIND OUT ANY GRADES IN SCHOOL wE CANNOT FIND HIS BIRTH CTF. WE CANNOT FIND OUT HOW HE SUPPORTED HIMSELF. HE IS A MUSLIM IN MUSLIM COUNTRIES AND HIS WIFE IS NOT ALLOWED TO TRAVEL TO A MUSLIM COUNTRY THAT PRACTICES SHARIA LAW. HE IS A CHRISTIAN IN THE US. HE DOESN'T HONOR NATIONAL PRAYER DAY AS "IT MIGHT BE OFFENSIVE TO PEOPLE" YET HE HAD HUNDREDS OF MUSLIMS AT THE WHITE HOUSE CELEBRATING THE KORAN.HE DOESN'T ATTEND HIS CHRISTIAN CHURCH BECAUSE IT MIGHT CAUSE COMMOTION. WHAT HAPPENED TO TRANSPARENCY? IN ALL HIS DEALINGS HE DOES ALL SORTS OF BEHIND THE SCENES DEALS. WHAT ABOUT ALL THE LAW BREAKERS ON HIS STAFF.AND THE RADICALS? WHAT ABOUT THIS UNHEARD OF LARGE WHITE HOUSE STAFF HE HAS ON THE PAYROLL. NOW WE HAVE A POTENTIAL OF ANOTHER WAR IN LIBYA. THIS ARTICLE HAS SHOWN ME WHAT A RAG OF A PAPER THIS IS. PATRICK ROBERTS MUST BE BACK ON THE "STUFF AGAIN" OBAMA SAID HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CREATING JOBS AND FUNNY THE MAJORITY OF JOBS ARE GOVERNMENT . THIS DOESN'T END BUT ANNOYING TO HAVE TO REPEAT THESE SAME ISSUES THAT SOME WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE.I WANT SOMEONE TO STATE WITH FACT ONE THING OBAMA HAS COMPLETELY ACCOMPLISHED SUBSTANIALLY TO HELP THIS COUNTRY.NOT SUBJECTIVE THIHGS.ALL WE HEAR ABOUT ARE THE THINGS HE HASN'T DONE OR LIED ABOUT. ONLY TWO MORE YEARS--------------
JimMcGarity | Apr 03, 2011, 10:06 PM EDT
Oh I guess you have a job, were you one of the 200,000 new federal workers or a banker that still needs more for this years pay hike.
cailinrua | Apr 03, 2011, 09:22 PM EDT
Really, guys, this is getting embarrassing. Can you please include information that supports each of these points? At the rate you guys are going with all this Obama love, you'll soon be claiming that he walked across the Atlantic for his visit to Ireland.

What a breath of fresh air. I am so tired of mindless Obama bashing by people who don't know that because someone disagrees with you that doesn't mean he's a bad person, it just means you disagree. I've seen so many lies out there that people I know and love believe. Obama might have a chance to make even more progress for the US if he had more support and less useless criticism. I'm not saying don't disagree, just don't disagree for the sake of making him wrong.
DannyBoyG | Apr 03, 2011, 05:48 PM EDT
For those who keep bad mouthing President Obama...who is very well intentioned are trying to dig us out of the ditch of the previous 8 years before he became President that everyone tries to forget so quickly. Please answer this...what do you think makes a good President??!! Certainly not the last Jack Wipe that took up that space in the White House for 8 years. You people are fools and tools and are certainly helping to contribute to America's quick trip down the drain. America's pure lack of intelligence is embarrassing!
CarolMaske | Apr 03, 2011, 05:42 PM EDT

Obama is nothing more than a narcissistic liar and pretender - a 'Manchurian' president that has done more harm to our great republic in these two short years than any past president could have even imagined.
Let those who worship at the alter of Obama get precisely what they deserve.
cillowen | Apr 03, 2011, 02:11 PM EDT
not a bad list as compared to other presidents one of whom who supported a planting of SPECIALS in a land far removed from the instigator of real WW2 genocide and atom bombing an enemy- now a friend. As to Repug prez' - Lincoln perhaps.
IAPRINCESS | Apr 03, 2011, 01:20 PM EDT

Great piece that shows how other countries in the world view a man with an alomost impossible task at hand. Still he handles it with grace and poise unlike his predecessor that help create most of this mess and will retire filthy rich because of it.
Carolanndriver | Apr 03, 2011, 12:01 PM EDT
(I was just about to cancel my membership to this right-wing rag when I saw this - thank you Patrick). I'll continue - And thank you, PRESIDENT OBAMA for holding BP responsible for the Gulf oil spill; and being able to string more than two words together in a sentence without embarrassing the entire country; and being able to act decisively in Libya; and for tolerating all the Haters who are too thick to notice what a HUGE improvement you have made over the last administration, DESPITE the giant 8-ball you were put behind; and for sticking in there and just keepin'on working on that To-do list that was longer than 5 arms the minute you took office; and for the new health care bill; and for all the other things you're going to accomplish; THANK YOU for inserting some SANITY in a world gone absolutely nuts with people too stubborn and stupid to be objective, just because they don't belong to your party. And thanks for not starting another unpaid-for war and digging our country even further into that military hole Fran seems to forget. And thank you for reminding the entire country YET AGAIN that we need to concentrate on RENEWABLE energy sources - if only they would LISTEN and quit BITCHIN'.
trspit80 | Apr 03, 2011, 11:51 AM EDT

Thanks for closing GITMO, as promised. Oops! Thanks for putting debates on facebook, as promised. Oops! Thanks for vetoing all bills with earmarks, as promised. Oops - first bill had 8,700 earmarks. Thanks for teaching us "Austrian". Thanks for honoring the "corpsemen" who guard our country. Thanks for visiting all 57 states. Thanks for appointing a communist as your green jobs czar and a tax cheat as your secretary of the treasury. Most of all, thanks for cutting the deficit.

WOW! Yes, thank you Obama for your EPA shutting down one of our factories, and a neighboring State's factories! Yes, thank you for giving $2 billion to Brazil so they can drill for oil, while banning ours! Yes, thank you for banning new coal mining permits, cause our electric bill to triple. Yes, thank you for your new "bullying laws", which doesn't cover a white, male kid in school. Thank you for bailing out foreign banks. Thank you for spending more than Bush, and now getting us involved in Libya. Oh, and thank you for cutting Medicare, and telling our senior citizens, "they will just have to take a pain pill." And on and on!

He's not perfect, and he's okay with that. It's the people who think they are perfect who are delusional.

If I might take a quote from the fanatic fundamentalists during the Bush regime. "If you hate America so much right now with the current administration, please feel free to leave and don't let the door hit your asses on the way out!" I shudder to think what the world and this country would have look like with all the serious and explosive problems we have faced with the McCain/Palin white house. Please all the bigots (tea party & ditto heads) out there drink the kool-aid and leave the rest of us in peace!

Good list! I think I appreciate "for the world having respect for America again" the most because I missed it the most during the Bush years. Or maybe even more, I'd thank Obama for restoring intelligence and calm reasoning to the Oval Office. But probably what I most admire in him as a person is his putting up with the haters and just letting their words roll off into oblivion on their own wasted energy.
DennisQ | Apr 01, 2011, 04:11 AM EDT
Obama doesn't get credit for cleverly finessing his way out of difficult situations like, for example, the set-to between Prof. Louis Gates and the Cambridge Police sergeant who arrested him for backtalk. Obama took heat for commenting that the cops behaved "stupidly" but managed to bring an end to the discord with the famous Beer Summit.
As much as people found George Bush likeable, not even Bush would have pulled off the Beer Summit the way Obama did. For one thing, Bush couldn't afford to remind people that he'd been arrested as a drunk driver and got off without losing his license. And Bush's folksiness was pretty much an act. The Texas "ranch" wasn't a working ranch; it was just a hideout.
On the other hand, despite being a law professor, Obama is more genuinely folksy than Bush could pretend to be. These four guys sat down outside the White House and drank beer while holding a moderate conversation. Imagine drunken Cheney at such an event! They'd have to make sure he wasn't armed.
Morninghours | Mar 31, 2011, 11:04 PM EDT
Newrone, rest assured President Obama will be re-elected. The Tea Party is already following the Reform Party down the road to oblivion. And not one of the 2012 GOP contenders has even as good a chance as Sen. McCain, which of course Obama beat handily.
mickcrotona | Mar 31, 2011, 08:48 PM EDT
