Senator John McCain rapidly losing ground in Arizona re-election race

Senator John McCain is looking in serious trouble in his Arizona senate race with opponent JD Hayworth just five points behind in the latest Rasmussen poll.

That would explain McCain's bull rush to the right, especially on the immigration issue in recent weeks. He has said he will oppose any immigration reform bill and that he supports the draconian new anti-immigrant law signed by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer last week.

In the Rasmussen poll fully 91 per cent of the Republican likely primary voters say that immigration issues will impact their vote.

The vast majority want a very hard line on border security.

That, no doubt, is why John McCain is coming across more like Tom Tancredo these days than the man who co-sponsored a comprehensive immigration reform bill in 2007.

Hayworth has gone from a 53-31 per cent deficit since January to the 47-42 race today.

Any incumbent who is earning less than 50% of the vote at this stage of the campaign is considered vulnerable. The primary election is August 24th.

Hayworth has the support of Tea Party voters and is a former Congressman. Sarah Palin has endorsed McCain and may come and campaign for him again. Her support may be vital.

The writer below quoted the Old Testament - Deut. 17:15 & 28:43 Yet he blatantly is so AntiSemitic. Where did his Bible come from? More importantly, how are the Jews to blame now? I guess I shouldn't ask - they're always to blame about everything and everyone. Never mind that Obama is not Jewish nor is McCain!

I agree with you Jim. In fact, a huge reason that JD cannot win is b/c last time he was in Washington, he lost his seat to a democrat. We need some checks and balances in Washington, not another yes vote from a democrat. JD offers the instability that could allow for just that. We need to keep him far, far away from Congress.

McCain will win this election. The reason McCain is fighting hard for immigration is because the troops he has been asking for for over a year have yet to be sent to our borders. We lost an innocent rancher recently. The drugs and violence are getting worse. McCain has no other means to get troops other then drastic measures. Perhaps now this administration will listen. JD is a blowhard, far too corrupt and inexperienced to represent this State and Nation.

The Senator was keen on "immigration reform", keen on the big bank bailouts, keen on contorted, complicated "election reform" ... Arizona voters don't seem to be too keen on any of that. Duh! (The demofascists don't seem to be doing well in Arizona, either.)

I've been telling all of you..... Johnny Come Lately is only out for John! He has neglected Arizona for the past ten years! He's only interested in VOTES and staying elected...other than that "Your under the bus with everyone else who supported him", he could care less about your issues! He should gracefully retire and inhale his own ego! He's too OLD and lost two Presidential Races... nobody trusts him! Thank him for OBAMA ! He met his challenge in JD Hayworth!

John McCain has served America well in years past.He was honorable, reasonable and capable of bipartisanship in his decisions. Now, he's tired, maybe flustered. It seems he no longer grasps our country's current need for flexible thinking and action. To embrace Sarah Palin's ignorance? You bet, he's tired.

I'ts time for McCain to retire, he has served his country very well over the years. McCain has fallen into the Washington D.C. mindset, and he no longer serves the Conservatives. We need stong Conservatives to take our country back from the current socialist/marxist regime.
