Republicans committing electoral suicide with Donald Trump and now Newt Gingrich

Are Republicans intent on committing electoral suicide in 2012?

The news that the ancient war horse Gingrich is about to leave the stable for one more go-round is almost laughable.

The Newt Gingrich of the early 1990s would have been a formidable candidate,a fresh face with a fresh idea called the Contract with America and Speaker of the House to boot.

But if a week is a long time in politics, then almost twenty years ago is pre-history.

Gingrich has slid down the scale alarmingly since then.

Where once he was innovative, interesting, intellectual, now he is an old man, covering up his romantic infidelities , on his third marriage and with nothing more to let loose with than the old bombast rekindled.

He has about as much chance of winning as Donald Trump --speaking of whom where has he disappeared too since bin Laden's death?

But Newt will suck up considerable oxygen in this race, especially as the field gets more crowded with relative unknowns and he is the best known face there.

You can already see him and Trump dominating debates just because they have the largest megaphones.

No wonder Iowa Republicans are rushing to New Jersey to try and convince Governor Chris Christie to run.

With Newt Gingrich all saddled up and Donald Trump getting ready to mount and Sarah Palin eyeing the campaign trail it could not get any better for Obama.

better off than the reign before Bush,he left a deficit and 9% unemployment not to mention the mother of all recessions.
Nice try Patrick, but if what YOU SAY was anything close to correct then the last election in November didn't mean anything did it? It DID, and so your viewpoint shows you as a SIMPLE mouthpiece for the Ministry of Propaganda of heir Obama. Go back to sleep sir, YOUR nightmare is just beginning !! For are you, is our economy, better off than you were before the reign of Obama?
How come the Democrats are beginning to distance themselves from Nobama ? That guy wants to legalize the illegals because they can vote. Should Ireland let illegal immigrants vote !! STUPID !!!!
Roberts you would say the Republicans are digging their own graves if Reagan was alive and running again. You just hate republicans. here's a thought...why not try to hate all politicians and stop being such a liberal douchebag.
For both men, their "best" days are behind them.
Gingrich has about as much intellect as a newt (apologies to our little newts). He left congress with his tail between his lizard like legs a failed politician and a failed husband of three the sanctimonious hypocrite. He carries more baggage than UBL.
I don't give a rats a$$ who gets in.They will not deliver what they promise and not get the job done. And we as fools elect them because their only ones running. Is this all the Americans can come up with. Millions of people in USA and this is it?? FFS we are going down fast. While the rest of the world laugh at us..damm our forefathers are Rollin in their graves.
IDIOT
Newt has more intellect in his pocket than Obama has in his head. It's hard to get over his infidelity, but he has not become a fundamentalist evangelical but a convert to Catholicism. He recognizes that he owes something for his sins. He could have been "saved" as fundamentalist and forgotten about purgatory. He marched in civil rights demonstrations when BHO was being educated in Indonesia as a child. Listen to the man and then judge.
I can't help it. All I can think of when I see Gingrich is Benny Hill...
Shhhhhhhhh!
Jamcelt @ 9:47AM EDT has it right.
PARTY ON DUDES! The reps are dopes.
Wish I had checked for typos before I hit comment.
If our forfathers had wanted this nation to be a fundamentalist theocracy, that's what they would have created. It is time for the demise of the old guard Republicans & hopefully it will be replaced by a party that represents the moderate conservatives that are no longer representewd by anyone.
