Has the time came that the passenger and with all their luggage get on a scale and pay for the excess weight of a set normal total weight to pay for the additional fuel needed instead of the other passengers have this excess weight of yours charge to them. Hello 747 passengers.

Borefield, you must have travelled a lot with ryanair, you talk as though you have. Thousands of people have managed to travel to other countries with ryanair because it is cheap, and like me, do not want white tablecloths and a 3 course meal, just want to get from A to B in safety.

Just rode the 'Empire Builder" (Amtrak) from Seattle to Chicago. Nice cabinette, good food in a real dining car with linen tablecloth, great train crew, and wonderful view of Washington State, the Rockies, towns of Montana, and N. Dakota. The train was on time also (not that I was worried about it) That is the way I go from now on.. No more being assaulted by crotch commandos and dubious defenders of the Republic, in order to ride in the Sardine Special. Really going to miss all the nice people at he airports.

I have travelled with ryanair a few times, they are the cheapest, more than half what airlingus charge. You are told what weight you can carry so why buy a ticket if not happy with it. Flights coming from Lanzarote often have people with a lot of drink taken and cause trouble. It was the police that decided less than half be let on again. Would you rather wait until a disruptive crowd cause the craft to crash, it has happened before.

We just returned from Scotland/Ireland and will NEVER fly Ryanair again! We had to make an embergency trip to see ill family members, (father in Ireland, mother in Scotland). Our International allowance was 20 Kilos, and being away for so long packed as light as we could. However on the return journey we were a couple of pounds over and were charged 80 GBP for the privilage of flying the Edinburgh-Dublin leg of our journey, because Ryan will only allow you 15 Kilos. The Cabin crew barely spoke English and it was a constant stream of "buy this buy that". Definately Aer Lingus next time!

Ever look at Patrick Roberts' column picture and wonder if they used an autopsy photo of the late Jerry Orbach? He looks like he died during the Clinton administration and forgot to fall down. If that is the best picture they can find for this chap, perhaps a "face double" is in order. Sadly, his vapid columns are not any livelier, save his animation when bashing Sarah Palin.

The nearest thing to fascism nowadays is the regime in airports and on airplanes. The slightest complaint about lousy service or dishonesty, and you are threatened with being turned into police or Homeland Security. The airlines are in a unique position now, perhaps the only service provider and big corporation that the government won't let you complain about.
