Rand Paul has stated that he is in favor of building an underground electrified fence to stop immigrants coming in to America from Mexico.
Speaking to Russian television he said "Millions crossing our border without our knowledge constitutes a clear threat to our nation's security. I will work to secure our borders immediately. My plans include an underground electric fence, with helicopter stations to respond quickly to breaches of the border.
With leaders like these no wonder the Republican Party is in the toilet with Hispanic voters.
Electrified fences would ensure lots of dead bodies of women and children if they tried to cross, just the type of image that America needs in the world.
He also wants children of undocumented to no longer be considered Americans --in direct violation of the 14th Amendment.
The anchor baby argument put forward by Paul and others is ridiculous. A child has to attain the age of 21 before they can claim in a parent.
Paul already is on record opposing the 1964 Civil Righs Act that gave Blacks equality, now he wants fried Mexicans as a tasty desert to his main course of keeping Blacks out.
This guy is the future of the Republican Party?
God Help us all.

Good point, feeneycj, many Mexicans and others have perished while trying to cross the desert and get into our country illegally. Illegal immigration suits the coyotes and other parasites that prey on poor people from Mexico, Guatemala etc. If those folks knew there was no chance they could stay in the US they wouldn't attempt the crossing. I have every sympathy for illegal aliens, but that doesn't mean I want to see an amnesty, here in the US or in Ireland.

frying Mexicans? a really hyped title.
Sadly, many have fried in the dry hot desert areas on foot, thousands have died from exposure. When will you misguided do-gooders realize that there is such a thing as SAFE and LEGAL immigration?
look, keep the illegals out. fences, electric or not, technology, more troops; just keep us safe and keep all the unidentifiable illegals out.

FYI: There is an electric fence around the Statue of Liberty ... to keep drunk Irishmen from climbing up (no kidding) ... but not to kill, merely to stun and make the point: If you don't know the what, why and how of an electric fence, you very soon will, drunk, sober or DWM.

Monsoonman: " The canadians don't swim across their river to pay for and get first rate American health care. They drive across. " But in-the-know chinooks, brits, aussies and gringos now fly ... to Mazatlan, where vacationing Kaiser docs and nurses flock to very fine facilities ... they even take your Kaiser cards there.

Yeah, right. From Kentucky, right. BTW: most electric fences just keep the cows in their places, but does not kill them. For those who need to know, there is an electric fence around the Statue of Liberty ... to keep drunk Irishmen from climbing it so they don't kill themselves ... No kidding.

My father could not come into the U.S. because there were quotas years ago so he spent two years in Argentina until he was eligible. The electric fence is a good idea and the degree of watts can be adjusted so nobody will die but when touching that location will simply recoil from it's effects and stay in Mexico!!

As an American I think we should work on helping Mexico make their country strong so that there is no reason to leave such a beautiful place.
I live near the Canadian border. We have no fences on our borders and I don't see the Canadians swimming the Niagara River to get to the other side.
Let help Mexico strenghten their economy so their people do not find the need to leave to survive.

George, I don't believe you. I don't think you can document your assertion about emigration from Ireland while there was full employment. Would you provide the source for this? Frankly it sounds like the sort of suspicious statistics right wingers claim are true . . . but aren't. Is this the future of the Republican party - inventing so-called "facts" on cue? God help us all.

DennisQ:
What you say is nonsense. Huge numbers of Irish came to the US illegally when there was FULL employment in Ireland. We shouldn't have any sympathy with those people. The Irish government encourages their own people to emigrate, while at the same time encouraging foreigners to immigrate into Ireland. I't's a crazy policy!

Right wing thinking is one-sided. Multinational corporations devastate entire communities, even whole countries, just by picking up and leaving. Rand Paul applauds the multinationals in the name of freedom. However, if the Irish left in the lurch come here to find a market for their services, why then they are criminals.

Every Irish person I know, both in Ireland the US, feels that Irish illegal aliens do not deserve any support from the Irish government or any other group. In fact they squirm when the Dublin government tries to back illegal emigration to the US, because they know the damage that massive legal & illegal immigration has done to Ireland itself.
