The release of 24,000 e mails from Sarah Palin's time as governor of Alaska has created the kind of media frenzy that defies description.
The New York Times, Washington Post and major TV outlets rushed to Alaska and called for volunteers to scan each and every e-mail as if hidden treasure could be unearthed.
This was not Wikileaks or the Pentagon Papers or the Watergate files. This was the e mails of a governor of a very small state, politically speaking, one who just happened to end up as John McCain's running mate.
The media found zilch of course on this fishing expedition to end all fishing expeditions.
Palin talks about the Miss Alaska pageant, about the oil revenues, and about a thousand mundane things that governors of Alaska discuss.
The media overkill is a symptom of a sickness that cannot be explained by any self righteous blather from them.
The focus on Palin was ridiculous. She will hardly be the presidential candidate for the GOP next year. She is being held to a crazy standard where the media is setting out to catch her in a gotcha moment.
There was no gotcha moment which was drearily predictable.
The major exclusive (gasp) was that Palin was surprised her name had suddenly surfaced as a potential running mate.
The media should be ashamed of itself with this nonsense.
Palin is right, there does appear to be an incredible bias and attempt to nail her. Frankly it is distasteful.

"The liberal, socialist, communist, Stalinist-loving media hate her because she is a republican" Beam me up, Scotty. There is no intelligent life here. As for the author of this piece of garbage (that would be you, Patrick) please explain why the VAST majority of Americans think this woman is an idiot? Are we all brainwashed by the "Stalinists" as the McCarthy-esque idiot who I quoted above states? Or are Americans smart enough to know a fool when they see one?
CaptainCon | Jun 28, 2011, 04:21 PM EDT
She's a loon with a folksy schtick and not much education. Eminently electable in the land of TV braindeath. Still sinking her head chin down on her chest at any sign of a knowledgeable briefing? Bachman is a complete basketcase but the only thing she shares with Palin is the knowledge that the US public has a very short attention span and if you insist on a lie long enough they'll get bored and want to watch more TV. Thats their secret. They are both bullshitters who know that their audience is sooner or later going to spot something colourful moving and forget.
peterson | Jun 15, 2011, 02:19 PM EDT
The Democraps hate and fear her because she tells the truth about government corruption. She cleaned house in Alaska involving both Republicans and Democraps !!
bogmanjoe | Jun 14, 2011, 07:08 AM EDT
Sarah attracts the jealous instincts of breeding females as they are sub-conciously threatened by her adorable male-magnet nature. She also attracts the unprovoked attacks of sexually frustrated males who suspect sub-conciously they may never mate with such a magnetic egg. This is the real and only reason Sarah may never become President.

Sorry, maloney, but I don't have a clue of what you're taking about. I think I'm going to back out of this conversation. You're going to believe what you want no matter what. "liberals hate the truth"? Whatever that means and there's that word hate again. I give up.
maloney | Jun 13, 2011, 10:58 PM EDT
Obama, Pelosi and crew have been baiting the Tea Party and conservatives for 2 1/2 yrs. Not one time has the right done anything violent. The liberals/progressives have committed acts of violence on several occasions including biting a finger off. Please let joan comment back before deleting this post like you did the last one. Liberals hate the truth.
joanxis | Jun 13, 2011, 03:25 PM EDT
Oh, Maloney, you are so good. I wish I could be more like you. Never a hateful thought in your body. Oh, wait a minute, every comment you make on here is full of hate. "Violence is the realm of the liberal"? What in the name of God does that mean? Prove it. No, it's just your childish way of getting back at me.
joanxis | Jun 13, 2011, 10:01 AM EDT
And no, I don't hate her. I'll leave the hating to you and your pals on here.
joanxis | Jun 13, 2011, 10:00 AM EDT
God, you must be a man, Maloney. Only a man would think of saying MEOW. If you're insinating that I envy Ms Palin or want to be in a cat fight with her, you are so wrong, but if that little fantasy turns you on, go for it. And no, I didn't forget my meds. I always take them. Don't be so "holier than thou" - I'm sure there is a Democrat somewhere that makes you want to smack them in the face because of their smarmy mug. I'm just being honest.
maloney | Jun 12, 2011, 10:37 PM EDT
joan..ya don't hate her but ya want ta smack her in the mug. Forget your meds today? MEOW!!
joanxis | Jun 12, 2011, 01:51 PM EDT
Clancy, I'll tell you why I dislike her and btw, I don't hate her at all. She's very attractive and does a good job being in the entertaiment field. entertaining. I think she has found her niche and should stick to it. Also, I'm not a Democrat, I'm an Independent. I can't stand to listen to her. She doesn't make a lot of sense. She makes asinine statements, like she had an advantage because her state "is so close to Russia". Her knowledge of history is embarrasing - Paul Revere, among other things. Most importantly, she's a quitter. I listened to her speech when she quit and I couldn't make head nor tail out of what she was talking about. None of it made sense and I still don't know why she quit. When she doesn't know the answer to something, she babbles on with the little she does know and then adlibs the rest and doesn't make any sense. I think she would make a terrible president. I would fear for America. I don't think she is stupid, but her lack of knowledge on many subjects is astonishing. I also don't think she is real intelligent, but she is shrewd. And her snarky smirking face and the know it all words that come out of her mouth makes me want to smack her in the face - and I'm not a violent person and would never hit anyone. BTW if she was a Democrat, I'd feel the same way about her.
cathy/marty | Jun 12, 2011, 10:45 AM EDT
The MEDIA is bought and PAID for by GEORGE SOROS and other socialist MUTTS !!!
clancy4unc | Jun 12, 2011, 12:05 AM EDT
The liberal, socialist, communist, Stalinist-loving media hate her because she is a republican. If she were a democrap, she would be hailed as the That same media is not fooling smart Americans. They are see through. Get the facts Irish sheeple. Stop letting them lead you around by the nose.
maloney | Jun 11, 2011, 11:15 PM EDT
Not that she's my 1st or 2nd pick but she has more cred than obama. He gives great speeches then makes an ass out of himself with every thing he does. Voting present doesn't make you a politician.
Deidra47 | Jun 11, 2011, 11:14 PM EDT
Only she "blackens" herself. She never thinks before she speaks or does anything. When she makes a mistake, like Republicans, don't ever apologist and say ...I made a mistake; constantly make exuses and in the process, make the situation worse.
badolan | Jun 11, 2011, 10:50 PM EDT
She has already "nailed" herself. Look no further than her interviews during the last presidential election. The women made a complete ass out of herself. Palin was a half term governor of a sparsely populated state and a small city mayor. Hardly presidential material.
maloney | Jun 11, 2011, 10:11 PM EDT
How can one woman put so much fear in the black hearts of so many people but then have no fear of obama's finger on the button? Boggles the mind.
EphraimKibbey | Jun 11, 2011, 08:50 PM EDT
Did I miss something in the news? This "Freedom of Information Act" request has been in the works since before the election when reporters wanted to find out more about Sarah Palin and her executive abilities. It has taken this long because it went through the courts. MSNBC has not read all the emails yet, but what they have revealed so far hardly seems to "blacken" her reputation. They mentioned that she was concerned about leaving the GOP convention early to get back to Alaska to work. This was before she was chosen as John McCain's running mate. They said that in one email she compliments then candidate Barack Obama on a speech he gave in Michigan, saying that she liked what he was saying about Alaska. According to some emails, she seems to have been working with a number of Democrates in the state to reform the corrupt practices between the Republicans and the Big Oil Companies that were hurting Alaskan citizens. Someone on MSNBC also mentioned that she seemed to understand global warming, the human contribution to it, and was backing counter measures. It all made me respect her a bit more and make me wonder what happened to her that she developed the reactionary right wing character that she plays on TV?
ciarrai | Jun 11, 2011, 04:18 PM EDT
She is a bollocks and the writer of this press release is, too. Patrick me boy, looking for a new job with Palin Self Aggrandizement Corp? I wouldn't be so quick, she is supposed to be not so nice to work for. She murdered the Paul Revere business and the why-for of the Statue of Liberty and would be beat up by a smart 5th grader and she wants to be POTUS. And you think she shouldn't be getting a rough time by the media? Are you smoking bad weed, too. Leave it alone, Patrick. Go look at the tape of her explanation the Paul Revere story and then, under oath, tell us all that she deserves to be taken seriously (put aside being POTUS). Stop with these silly columns or this site may lose lots of viewers.
goldenblade | Jun 11, 2011, 04:00 PM EDT
Palin is certifiable. Somewhere in the USA there is a mental asylum missing its star patient.
SeamusMor | Jun 11, 2011, 03:53 PM EDT
Is anyone OK with the idea of Palin being in control of nuclear weapons? She didn't know there were two Koreas.
Kells46 | Jun 11, 2011, 03:41 PM EDT
Sarah Palin is a first class IDIOT!!! She could care less about the US or it's history, of which she knows diddly squat! Total garbage spews out of her silly mouth, even she does not know what the heck she is saying. Her one goal is to make $$$$$ and anyone who thinks otherwise is also a first class IDIOT. The woman is STUPID, STUPID, STUPID and is an embarrassment to all intelligent females. Does any member of her family work, or go to school? Stop reporting on her and watch her wither and for me that come soon enough!!!!
joanxis | Jun 11, 2011, 03:10 PM EDT
I don't think Sarah Palin needs any help from the media to trash her. She does it to herself. A gotcha question? She's reminds me of a female Donald Trump. Well, maybe not quite as egotistical, but close. Calceltic - love your comment.
Chiefjustice | Jun 11, 2011, 03:00 PM EDT
Strong Woman , Not a Lib. Gotta be trashed by the Lib Press.
AngelPrecious | Jun 11, 2011, 02:53 PM EDT
LOL, the vicious comments from liberals just make me laugh. Anti-Christ??? Hardly. She has more Christian values than many of you that post these negative comments. I run a Catholic chat room and every one said they would vote for her. Of course, our Irish chatter had already left but I know what his vote would have been...LOL! Calceltic, I am an American and seems I agree with his assessment!
Jamcelt | Jun 11, 2011, 02:24 PM EDT
More like the anti-Christ than a woman. I swear I think this woman could bring Armageddon with her.
Siobhan39 | Jun 11, 2011, 02:04 PM EDT
To eileenkny who said, "From what I've heard, they reveal that she was a governor who gave a damn about her state." Say, what. She gave such a damn about her state that she quit being governor after 2 years.
jflanagan | Jun 11, 2011, 02:00 PM EDT
The same week Brian Williams says NBC Nightly News didn't cover Congressman Weiner and his explanation of the tweeted picture because it wasn't an important story, he spends time on Governor Palin's interpretation of what Paul Revere did. A married Congressman sending pictures to a young lady and, if you listened to his denials, obviously lying about it isn't of any importance but a person who has no elected postion at this time says something not very historically accurate is important. I don't have great expectations for Governor Palin, so what she says doesn't affect me. A Congressman who lies about what is a serious problem does affect me and my life.
hooligan6a | Jun 11, 2011, 12:59 PM EDT
I have never seen so much fear of one woman.
John G. Hogan | Jun 11, 2011, 12:45 PM EDT
Wish the media would whiten 0'Bama for once!!! Whiten as in expose!!!
jdi2269 | Jun 11, 2011, 12:24 PM EDT
LIBERAL MEDIA HAVE TRASHED MS.PALIN SINCE DAY 1........HOW ABOUT CRITICIZING OUR LEADER FOR THE HORRIBLE ECONOMY AND DOING NOTHING TO CREATE JOBS AND FOR FAILING TO STOP ILLEGALS THAT COST THIS NATION BILLIONS? THE LIBERAL MEDIA HAS ALL THEIR PRIORITIES WRONG!
tundish45 | Jun 11, 2011, 12:13 PM EDT
Hey, Patrick Roberts, get over it. Like the Donald Trump candidacy, this is about marketing. The personality gets free publicity for other commerical sales and the media get increased public attention. And the real politicans avoid having to deal with weighty matters. Everybody wins --- except that portion of the general public interested in more than a never ending freak show.
calceltic | Jun 11, 2011, 11:49 AM EDT
Who are you Patrick Robert's? What the hell do you know of American politics...She is a show boat who is riding on her looks and popular appeal, doesn't have a clue about anything in the global arena much less her own country's history. Your obivious school boy crush has no business being published as legitimate editorialism. Buy your slef a poster, hang it in your room but don't push it on us.
wjb1tex | Jun 11, 2011, 11:24 AM EDT
BTW, wjb1tex -- remember that long-term crap about Obama's birth certificate? Or has your selective, Republican memory already kicked in? -------------------------------------------- The media was not the ones who were questioning Obama's birth. Instead they were deriding the radio talking heads and the bloggers who constantly brought it up. The media didn't try to do an investigation.
haasny007 | Jun 11, 2011, 10:58 AM EDT
Palin is consistently "blackening" herself with idiotic and outrageous comments. She is seeking the media when it suits her and is offended when she is covered in an unflattering manner. "The media" also includes Fox which is decidedly pro-Palin. So what is this dude talking about?
seagreen | Jun 11, 2011, 10:52 AM EDT
Sarah Palin is "Miss Crabtree" to these middle age republicans. She is taking up too much time and space.
Pittsburghkid | Jun 11, 2011, 10:31 AM EDT
Sarah is one strong woman. She can take it. They counted her out in 2008, and she came back campaigning in 2010. Her support to Tea Party Republican turned out the Democrats from Congress. I swear she must have some Irish Blood. She reminds me of the Great Irish President, Ronald Reagan.
eileenkny | Jun 11, 2011, 10:27 AM EDT
From what I've heard, they reveal that she was a governor who gave a damn about her state. Of course the media is going to jump on the trivia, like the tanning bed. When it comes down to it though, who really cares now? She's become a talking head just like Rush. Sensible folks won't pay it any mind.
cillowen | Jun 11, 2011, 10:22 AM EDT
can't blacken a black hearted soul who's really off.
jamthecat | Jun 11, 2011, 10:18 AM EDT
Typical right-wing, hypocritical nonsense. "It's okay for the media to beat up on Democrats and Liberals and report our lies as fact without question, but golly, how dare they tell people what we actually DO say and mean?! That's not fair! Waaahhhhhh." And I'm happy to say that 1661996usmc beat me to the rest of my comment. BTW, wjb1tex -- remember that long-term crap about Obama's birth certificate? Or has your selective, Republican memory already kicked in? Again, "The media NEVER do this to the other side and ALWAYS do it to us!" The two-faced aspect of that would be funny if it wasn't so obvious and stupid.
NashuaWolfy | Jun 11, 2011, 10:06 AM EDT
The title of this article should be "Media attempt to blacken Sarah Palin once again." The word "media" is plural. The singular form is medium.
wjb1tex | Jun 11, 2011, 09:50 AM EDT
The "media" ( not the mainstream media ) may question Obama's past but I don't recall any effort to secure and publish his email records for Illinois or as a U.S. Senator. I don't recall any effort to secure and publish emails from Hillary. Nor do I recall any effort to secure the same from Romney who also was a Governor and is a Presidential candidate. Why Palin ?
1661996usmc | Jun 11, 2011, 09:50 AM EDT
She doesn't need help from the media to destroy her image. She is doing a good job by herself. Remember Paul Revere?
olovely | Jun 11, 2011, 09:19 AM EDT
I don't think the media can exist without Sarah Palin in 2011, so I don't accept they've turned on their headline grabbing mascot.
DaddyMac22 | Jun 11, 2011, 06:51 AM EDT
Are you kidding me? Spare me the sanctimonious pity party, ''The media should be ashamed of itself with this nonsense.'' - right so, the 'media' can question every detail of The President's life, and cast doubt on even his nationality, but Palin is off limits? Live by the sword, die by the sword. She deserves every single second of inspection, PLUS, what a joke, this moron has HER OWN REALITY SHOW!! And NOW she whines about privacy?
