Lou Dobbs hired illegals and knew they were undocumented says report

The hypocrisy of Lou Dobbs on the immigration issue has finally been exposed .

It now turns out according to a ‘Nation’ magazine report that Dobbs hired illegal immigrants to work on his horse farm in New Jersey, all the time castigating employers in America who did the same.

Dobbs,remember, was the man who lit the torch against illegal immigrants here in America. Night after night his CNN show slammed them and abused anyone who made a case for them to be legalized.

It was the beginning of a nasty nativist era in American politics that continues to this day where immigrant are demonized and some have been killed by thugs weaned on the nasty rhetoric of Dobbs and others.

Now it turns out that Dobbs was having it both ways, slamming the hiring of illegal immigrants while benefiting from their cheap labor to keep his house and manage his fancy stables.

And the upshot of ‘The Nation’ article is that Dobbs clearly knew that the workers were undocumented

Macdonald spoke to a man named Rodrigo Ortega. Ortega told her about meeting Dobbs. Ortega told her that Dobbs "knew very well that the majority of us didn't have papers," but that this "was never a problem."

it is hardly surprising that Dobbs never paid overtime to the illegal workers who often worked very long hours.

After all Lou Dobbs always thought he could have it both ways.
Now that facade has come tumbling down thanks to some outstanding reporting.

uh, there is a qualuudese which used to be spoken a lot but I think it is a dead language now, sort of like latin.

Plasticpaddy, CLoghry1938 did not say that English was the 'official' language of the USA. He/She simply (and correctly) said that English is the language of the USA -- it always has been, defacto. That is indisputable. Additionally, there are many, many Americans (the majority, I do believe) who do indeed support codifying it as the official language, into the U.S. Constitution. I'm one of them. And 'multiculturalism' is by essence and definition the ANTITHESIS of national cohesion, because it places whatever nationality and/or race a person was or is AHEAD of being an American (you're fill-in-the-blank first, and American second, if at all). Fortunately the 'multiculturalists' are the minority, and the people are agitated.

Ms Murphy they are illegal. Every country has rules about travel into and length of stay. Look it up. So what do you call someone who steals from you, a legal person or a CRIMINAL? My wife and daughter are from Ukraine. I can go visit their country, with a VALID passport for up to 90 days. I cannot work there. If I work or stay more than 90 days, I am ILLEGALLY there. Plain and simple. I am no less human, but I am a criminal. They are criminals, and their employers are criminals. Period.

I think you are confusing Dobbs, Limbaugh and Beck with Al Sharpton, Ben Jealous (the NAACP blabbermouth), AFL-CIO's Trumka with the 'very popular' with his all of about 15 viewers Ed Schultz, with the forked- tongued Keith Olbermouth, with the testosterone-laden Rachel Madcow, with the 'thrill up his leg when he sees oVomit Chris Matthews, and with the rest of the old dinosaur lame-stream media who can do nothing more than color themselves green with envy while comparing their ratings with those of the lowliest of FOX commentators. -- People like you should be formally challenged and demanded to provide more than democRat-generated fumes, smoke and mirrors for the idiotic and demonstrably false allegations you let fly, and then be sued for libel until you are actually able to provide verifiable evidence. -- As for exploiting racial hatred, you should refer to contrived astro-turf gatherings put on by the left, like the recent "One Nation" rally where people picked their nose, were shooting the breeze with each other, and littered the Mall with their un-eaten box rations while their 'speakers' frothed at the mouth and wasted their breath on the podium.

When will people understand these rich, white, loud-mouthed commentators don't really give a damn about 90% of the crap they spew; they only do it to keep the paycheck going. Lou Dobbs found his way, just like Rush and Glenn found theirs -- by exploiting racial hatred. One of these days their supporters are going to wake up, see these hyenas for what they are -- BS artists using their voices to help their rich owners pick the pockets of the poor and middle class -- and realize they've been took by nothing more than the modern version of a snake oil salesman.

Hear,hear MaryM232!!! McDonald was called on the carpet by Dobbs for lying and she folded like a cheap umbrella -- Bottomline, libs cannot run on the issues because they have nothing but FAILURE. They cannot run on accomplishments because they have none to claim. The economy has tanked despite -or mabe because of-- TARP. The nationalized auto companies have not managed to sell cars, therefore continue their downfall, hence the waste of the taxpayer's money. The economy has tanked because of oVomit's socialist policies. oVomitCare is a farce that is already increasing taxes and costs despite the contrived promises. The safety of America and its citizens is in jeopardy because of oVomit's policies and percieved jello backbone.... So what do they have left but to smear, deride and marginalize their opponents? -- These are Alinsky tactics, something the usurper in chief knows a gread deal about since he used to teach then as 'lecturer' and practice them as 'community (communist) organizer.'

As I understand some of these posts; if I hire a licensed contractor to install a sidewalk, and that contractor hires an "undocumented" (aka:illegal) alien to finish the concrete, then I'm guilty of employing an undocumented alien? Some of you had better be very careful the next time you buy a tofu-burger because it may have been made by an undocumented alien that you "in effect" hired!

Lou Dobbs was shown to be a hypocrite by The Nation and, yes, @IrishandProud, that does matter! The point is, @MaryM232, that Lou Dobbs has been a frequent attacker, on his own shows, of US employers who hide behind the sub-contractor excuse and now is trying to use the same excuse. Pathetic! And calling a really patriotic publication like The Nation names like Marxist and Communist does not invalidate Lou's hypocrisy one iota. Patrick Roberts, you're a great liberal American. @judiron, you must be a ditto head, foxnqewsaholic to say that CNN is liberal and biased. ,

Illegals are everywhere, had young-un on bicycle slam into the side of my car with handlebars scraping my driver side doors. We'll have to get used to the fact that such day-laborers have no appreciation of traffic laws. An uninvolved driver (police rept, wording) who left scene, one whom officer never went across the stree to question - was the triggering agent. Such a person whom youngster somehow conveyed to officer - that he was invited to bicycle across the street in front of his left turning helper's vehicle resulting in what befell my vehicle - as I tried to ease on by. One wonders at motive of such a US citizen setting a soul up for harm. Being tired of the many seeking a day's work that swarm across both sides of the road in or around his home or office. The feigning of concern by wave-on Samaritan before I called 911 whose shoutings made me aware that a human was involved while I was trying to ascertain what was thrown or bounced up to hit my vehicle. My calling 911 the hero zero had him talking with a difference - he had a German sounding name which he may or may not have been. More than likely not. The takeover and loss of what the founding fathers had strove to achieve is close - very close. We have to serve one Master, our own Master not Masters positioned to control mankind. Keep voting for a going nowhere future with bought scared puppets. Obama Biden Bushies McSame ... you know its so. IT's nigh OVER. To be fair, I read Dobbs' story here. He starts off by attacking The Nation for being a liberal journal. That's true. It is. Since we still have a Constitution, they have the right to print articles with a liberal point of view. Then he goes off on a long, legalistic, "I didn't know the gun was loaded" kind of a defense. Like every cornered right wing weasel in my lifetime, he admits that mistakes were made, but blames somebody else. Apparently, he was so busy saving America that he didn't look out the window and get a good look at the guy on his lawn with the weed-whacker. Same old tune.
