Judge's ruling on Arizona immigration law a great one

Judge Susan Bolton is a wise woman. Her decision on the Arizona immigration law is exactly the correct one.

What American could possibly disagree with her comment that “There is a substantial likelihood that officers will wrongfully arrest legal resident aliens” ?

“By enforcing this statute, Arizona would impose a ‘distinct, unusual and extraordinary’ burden on legal resident aliens that only the federal government has the authority to impose.” the judge said

Governor Jan Brewer,(pictured above) a certified immigrant basher who makes up facts and figures to suit her own narrative (headless bodies found in desert anyone?) disagreed of course.

“I am disappointed by Judge Susan Bolton’s ruling,” said Brewer. “This fight is far from over. In fact, it is just the beginning, and at the end of what is certain to be a long legal struggle, Arizona will prevail in its right to protect our citizens.

“I have consulted with my legal counsel about our next steps. We will take a close look at every single element Judge Bolton removed from the law, and we will soon file an expedited appeal at the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.”

The Justice Department has argued well that asking local police to make immigration checks went too far. They said that the law would lead to harassment of legal residents and damage relations with Mexico and other countries which the United States relies on for cooperation with law enforcement.

Terry Goodard,a leading Democrat in the state had it right when he said
“Rather than providing the leadership Arizona needs to solve the immigration problem, Jan Brewer signed a bill she could not defend in court which has led to boycotts, jeopardized our tourism industry and polarized our state.”

I think the majority of America is WITH Arizona. Did that judge live on the border of Arizona for even a month before she made that decision? The US citizens DO NOT MIND being asked to show ID. It happens all over the world. Anywhere else you should not be without your passport. With the poverty and crime and drugs, our southern borders are indistinguishable from the country the illegals are trying to leave. US should protect its CITIZENS. How can we find out who is legal and illegal without checking? I admire Arizona for standing up for its CITIZENS!

I am voting for Jan Brewer. I am tired of kidnappings, the abuse and the lack of law enforcement in Arizona. I respect legal visitors and have no problem with people wanting to live in the USA. However learn the language and take the classes to be a citizen.

The judiciary is there to make sure that those in politics do not break the law to give themselves more power, this was a move to get away from the rule of a royal family. This separation of powers is the basis of democracy regardless of the issue!!!

If the judiciary keeps breaking the will of the American public, the judiciary will become irrelevant. I remember seeing a taste of this when the Florida elections were under contest between bush and gore. Democrat election officials wanted to take ballot boxes into a locked room where they could review hanging chad ballots in private. Private citizens revolted and started beating down those doors.

Ok guys, let me get this straight! When immigrants want to go to america they HAVE to do it legally?? But when a judge makes a decision based on the LAW and the legality of Arizona's actions (ie the division of state and federal powers) she is criticised??? Which way do you want it??

Every election season the democrats break out the class card and the race card. I think we will see heavy use this year as they are so low in the polls and since the race card has already been used early and often so far.

Sorry, 'ratslayer' -- but you've just described the Democrats, not the Repubs. Democrats base virtually everything they do on race, class, and socio-economic stratification. A Dem dip running for office in New Hampshire has just openly said he wished Sarah Palin was on the plane crash in Alaska that killed a former senator...that's a really loving thing to say, right? Or how about the New Black Panther leader in Philly, who openly said (and you can view this on You Tube) that he hates white people and wants to kill their babies. Or Jesse Jackson calling NYC 'Hymie Town' or lillie-white Harry Reid saying he doesn't know how any Hispanics could be Republicans, etc. Talk about being 'idiotic' and 'hypocritical'...you either missed this stuff and/or are ignoring it, rat. Can I just call you 'rat,' for short?

The Illegal Immigration" issue is an absolute mess. I have being told that there are anywhere from 12 million to 20 million "illegal aliens" in the USA mostly in the States bordering Calfornia, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas. Nobody, not even the Federal Government can give us a Ball Park Figure. What's going down? The Federal Governmebnt should use everything at their disposal to STOP the Drug Carte ls from coming into the USA.

I do hancock, we are in an election cycle and same old fear and smear rhetoric convulses from the middle of the road right wing fascists as it doe's in the good old U.S.A. The hypocritical GOP never tried to fix the problem(8yrs of Bush) to much cheap labor for their financial backers. And now they lambaste Obama and at the same time refuse to negotiate a policy with him how shallow they are.

As the TB goes its reported exposure is on the rise in the US go to the bureau of health statistics to see that and yes Arizona is the kidnap capital of the US directly due to illegal aliens in our midst....Anyhow Dennis you can throw your seiu stats around here all day long the truth is if you are here illegally, get out.

Monsoonman, if you're going to use statistical arguments, you'll need some data. You definitely should not use the rise in tuberculosis as an example of something you can blame on foreigners. TB has not been increasing in the United States; it has declined steadily since 1953, the earliest year which the Center for Disease Control reports on its website. The incidence of TB has also steadily declined among Mexicans living in the United States. And you can't blame rising crime rates on immigrants either. Crime rates have actually dropped in the most immigrant-friendly U.S. cities. For example, in New York, where the police don't ask about immigration status, crime rates have plummeted.
