Sarah Palin's first appearance as a news analyst on Fox

Even Fox News have had enough of Sarah Palin, canceling her contract.

That is actually good news for the GOP, even if many diehards will not see it that way.

That’s because Palin was always on the loony tunes fringe, lacking the basic educational tools to become a respected national candidates.

Her laughable foreign policy responses (‘We can see Russia from here’) in that now infamous Katie Couric interview tagged her for ever as an intellectual lightweight and she did nothing subsequently to remove that image.

She was in many ways a Fox News creation with Roger Ailes describing her as ‘hot’ which hardly went down well with many women.

Contrast her with Congressman Paul Ryan, a cool, measured, deeply intellectual fellow, who is already one of the front runners for 2016.

The GOP will simply have to learn that the quick fix, fake outrage, hot button issues of the day as exemplified by Fox coverage does not play in the long run. It is all sugar calories, delightful at first bite, but then meaningless.

I watched Paul Ryan on ‘Meet the Press’ on Sunday and saw a bright, convincing politician who is in it for the long run.

The contest between Ryan and other GOP stars like Senator Marco Rubio will be fascinating to watch for the soul of the party.

At least it will be a battle between two fine political intellects, not Palin-like creatures who shriek on cue and use the same tired little formulas week after week.

The GOP and Ailes finally see Palin for what she was, a fascinating sugar calories diversion from the real issues of how America should be run.

As she fades into obscurity there will be few who will miss her, her dysfunctional family, and her parrot-like responses.

Ryan and Rubio on the other hand constitute a real challenge for Democrats in 2016. See more: Right-wing Irish , Irish Republicans

What a good comment by Eschetic, talking about responsible parties leading with government programs to do what individuals cannot. The only hope for Republicans is to stop their manic rhetoric about dismantling every government program in sight (except the ones that help big corporations of course) and realize that government plays a vital - without which individuals could never succeed. Follow that path and quality candidates will emerge. Follow Murdock - and more Ryans will lead to self destruction.
If BrianO is serious, one can only hope that he grows up before the next time he faces his civic responsibilities in the voting booth. This isn't a "Right" or "Left" thing; it's a question of ethics and integrity. Former Governor Palin's commitment to good government and the "cause" of a conservative interpretation of same was revealed as fraudulent when she dumped her position as ELECTED Governor of her state because she could make more money elsewhere. She neither added to nor detracted from Fox "News's" questionable reputation but should now fade into the obscurity she so richly deserves. Rep. Ryan's intellectual and political bonefides were pretty effectively dismissed in his prominent role in the party losing every single important "swing" state in the last election. That leaves Marco Rubio as an intriguing prospect to be taken very seriously in the hunt for the 2016 nomination. If we Republicans seriously hope to avoid the fate of the Whig Party 200 years ago, sinking into irrelevance, many of us will be looking for an even more "centerist" alternative - one who realizes that RESPONSIBLE parties LEAD with positive programs for the government to do what individuals CANNOT - but unless and until one comes forth, Rubio has many qualities worth considering.
briano was at the parade and everyone was out of step except his dad.
BrianO... You can't be real? "ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, the new york times the boston gloge the la times all spread the lies about Mrs. Palin" Really?...Couldn't it be that the only "News Corp" who promoted and defended her, was wrong or had their own self interest? Rupert and Ailes, finally realized, dumb and bigoted isn't winning elections anymore. That's why Palin's gone.
Ryan and rubio are only a couple of rungs up the palin intelectual ladder. Some of their comments like rubio's on the age of the world come to mind.
Yes it turkey neck and the republican Cuban Latin to fix America god help us

That woman is a cabbage
To all you haters on the left, Sarah Palin is still more qualified than the current president is. She is more honest and straight forward than the president is. She has her honor still intact which what little honor the current president had he left in Bengazi. ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, the new york times the boston gloge the la times all spread the lies about Mrs. Palin, much like this piece uses comediennes words and attributes them to Mrs. Palin. I suppose when Mrs. Palin didn't abort her son Trig that really upset the tolerant left. I say hold your head high Sarah Palin speaking the truth to power is tough business.
Rubio and Ryan are hardly a challenge beyond their superficial appeal. Ryan a "deep intellectual"? If you look at his budget proposals you will soon find that he has no understanding of economics nor the impact of tax policies on the welfare of the nation. Rubio is more a pretty boy of the immediate ethnic interests but more smile than substance. The repubs will have to dig deeper than this for a candidate.
Sarah IS hot. And, by the way, at the nearest point, the US and Russia are seperated by about two and a half miles. I am, however, happy to see her go, and wish her the best. The media, which fawns over Obama and all democrats (see sixty minutes last night as the most recent example), did their best to annihilate this woman and her family.
Gee whiz do you have to be ignorant and a fool to be a "journalist" ? I quit reading at the point he used the quote from Saturday night live's Tina Fey as a quote from Governor Palin...So for this guy its if you don't lie you don't get published must be wonderful being a professional liar.
So Fox’s Roger Ailes has cut Sarah Palin loose. She was their gleeful cheerleader of smear, and vilification, doing the really dirty work that McCain and the rest of the Republicans wanted done, but didn’t want to dirty their own hands with. Yet, they stood in the shadows laughing and applauding when “Sarah” would put out her latest slander attack, in her hockey mom style, with lipstick glowing, running from interview to interview, kid trailing behind with helpless looks upon their faces. And now Ailes who really runs the Republican party, especially since Karl Rove crashed and burned in the last election, has decided “He’s” had enough of the latest brainless pretty face; like many rich and powerful men before him, and told “Sarah” he’s breaking up with her, and don’t call us we’ll call you. I wonder if Palin was watching 60 minutes last night? Ahhhh...Karma, such a wonderful thing!
You call Palin loony? There is a reason they called Joe Biden the dumbest man in the US Senate.
