Damian McGinty - 'Glee's' in house leprechaun

I've had it with 'Glee' and the leprechaun.

The Fox TV top rated series 'jumped the shark' last night when Heather, the cheerleader, really thought that new Irish exchange student Damian McGinty was a leprechaun.

Worse, she was the only one who could see him.

And he was looking for a pot o' gold.

And he had to sing 'It's Not Easy Being Green" by that well-known composer giant Kermit the frog.

Heavens preserve us dear reader.

Yes,that was the plot line.

This is supposedly an adult drama.

But I have no faith in begorrah b***s***.

I know a show like that will deal in stereotypes.

But it was downright insulting for any Irish American watching to see this nonsense passing as a representation of the Irish.

God knows what the talented Damian McGinty from Derry thought about the plot, given how hard he struggled to get on the show to begin with.

He qualified through the 'Glee Project', a winner take all competition to get a starring role on 'Glee'.

Now he's a performing leprechaun,a Mickey Rooney.

Producer Ryan Murphy, with all that Irish heritage should be ashamed of himself.

It was 'Amos and Andy' except for an Irish character.

Even allowing for artistic license, this show was a complete piece of garbage.

McGinty is indeed a talented young performer who probably never thought he'd end up as a leprechaun on national TV in an episode called 'Pot O' Gold' on Fox.

Unfortunately that is what happened to him.

McGinty did his best to act the part but it was immediately obvious that he was having difficulty putting on the stage Irishman.

He's too honest a young man for that and shame on Murphy for making him into a laughing stock character.

What next?

Damian singing the Lucky Charms jingle on stage?

Could the stereotyping get any worse?

Probably.

Time for Jane Lynch to smack some sense into Murphy with one of those megaphones.

Here's a clip of McGinty getting to know Finn:

Faix and begorrah, yur honor! shorr t'is only a bit o' fun, tae be shorr!, tae be shorr!
LOL, IT'S A TV SHOW!!! Glee is not a documentery, it's pure fiction and should not in any way, shape or form be connected to reality. I am stunned by those who think any TV show portrays real life (do you really think CSI's travel about interviewing suspects and arresting criminals?) but I'd like to believe that you as a member of the media would be a bit more rational (or intelligent) then to get all worked up over an episode of Glee of all things. Don't care for it change channels but its certainly not worth getting all worked up over.
McGinty has talent and is a welcome addition to this great show. Your colum on the other hand was so moronic, I can't believe you actually get paid for this.
Eh.. this is why I don't watch American TV. Content is lame and i swear it sucks the brain cells out of those who watch.
Oh, get over it already. There are much more injustices in the world.
This show is produced by 'Jackasses' to amuse the 'Jackasses' who watch it, it fits the criteria well.
I'm more offended by Celtic Thunder's lip syncing.
This Glee show is a disgusting product that is serving the militant homosexual agenda on a crusade against Christ and Family. This show and its vile actors, producers, writers and directors area smut peddling stereotype pushing militant homosexual agenda loving Godless progressive rats that are part of progressive Marxian plot to take down what makes the USA great. I'm surprised given the progressive political stances of IC there would be any article written about it, but it does seem to fit in with the progressive agenda to make identity politics the key divisive agent in the USA.
It's a show about gays and for gays.Surprised IC would attack it.
skimming the channels last night I spied Damian and lingered for 30 to 60 seconds to see the Derry lad exchanging dialogue with young butchy girl whereupon I swiftly left not knowing what the trash was about. Last thing I remember was Damian raising his left eyebrow, a habit that needs a pronto fix.
God help us gregornyny, seems you're easlily amused!! Wondering if you be so cool about a portrayal of the steriotypical 'American' male, i.e. obese,loud-mouthed,baggy jeans and a baseball cap worn at a ridiculous angle? No I thought not! I rest my case.
@irishwiter &@sekureatty said it all.Why don't you go after Notre Dame and their mascot.Oh wait a minute IC had a barely disguised press release about the glory of herds of plastic paddies desecending on Dublin. Granted the economic benefit is truly great. But I was in the bar business for 30 yrs and dealt with scores of ND grads and if these fans are ANYTHING like them Dublin will be counting the euros and saying good riddance.Oh btw "Celtic Thunder" was cringe worthy but Phil Coulter (who has writen brillant stuff)DID give Damian a break and Ryan Murphy has given him a chance at international recognition-I don't know how many countries Glee is seen in but I'm sure it's a lot.
while the leprechaun bit was trite, it mildly worked given the girl's ditziness. The"it's not easy being green" was too broad attempt at, well, something. Did anyone notice that every shirt the lad wore was green? It was all a bit much.
Love Damien as an actor and singer; The whole show is an insult to human beings, not just to the Irish. Maybe it's my age, but I couldn't wait for it to be over. GLEE = Trash.
I'm american and have irish citizenship and it doesn't offend me in the least
