The news that Donald Trump went bankrupt more often than he married wives has led to a great deal of angry second guessing by leading republicans -- not.
Previously,The Donald filed for corporate bankruptcy in 1991, 1992, 2004, and 2009 according to the Wall Street Journal.
And this guy wants to run the biggest corporation on earth?.
And Republicans want to line up behind a guy whose idea of good business is to leave thousands of debtors holding his debts while he reorganizes and stiffs 'em?
Ah yes, that prescient, brilliant Donald Trump.
Personally I'd prefer Donald Duck running the country.
The Donald is not all he is quacked up to be that is now abundantly clear.
But the process of running for president will expose all these flaws and megalomania in the Donald until he runs screaming for the exits.
It says here he won't be able to stand the heat.
It will be roast Donald Duck before all this is over.
And the media will be looking for the next sucker to draw in.
Michael Bloomberg anyone?

I reckon the Republicans will encourage all the freaks they can this time around to declare and get the media to cull them before they make a serious run in 2016. Wouldn't be the first time the Republicans have used the media to thin out their own ranks. Any serious candidate would recognise that there is a hell of a mountain to climb against Obama in 2012 and would prefer to lie in the long grass until he's out and hope that Billary won't declare either. Sarah Palin is going to have to raise or fold this year. Should be fun either way and my bet is that she'll get impatient, ignore any sane advisors she may have and declare. At which point the WASP Republicans will start sharpening the knives for her back as they won't want her muddying the waters for theor serious candidate list in 2016. Good night. And good luck.

Who the F-ck is not going bankrupt these days!!!Trump will make a great president no matter how much sh-t is shoveled on him!Oh, what makes Obama so competent to run this country?

Anybody would be better than the current idiot.

This is what I think..it is a sad state of affairs that what is available for consideration for President, the most influential position in politics,is someone like Donald Trump. President Obama is the first candidate in years with a clean slate. He has tried to deal with the shambles he inherited from George Bush, while addressing the issues he presented in his campaign. How does any president work with the Congress who has no conscience or will to serve the people of this country ?.Will there ever be co-operation between the parties again...where is this country headed ? We are being run by lobbyists who wield more power in Washington than either party. What a disgrace to all who ever allowed this to happen. It feels as if we will never move beyond this We need term limits in Washington, and until that happens if ever,we should expect business as usual. They all love being there..they like the status quo..and the average citizen may have to accept that until some courageous revolutionaries come along...any volunteers ?

@PatrickRoberts (BTW, love that Jerry Ohrbach autopsy photo accompanying your byline) Why should Republicans do or say anything about Trump when he is doing all their nasty work with the whole birther thing, which is really about Obama's birth cert. The birth cert would explode the narrative about his mama STANLEY (It's tough to be manly when mama's named Stanley) falling in love with an African exchange student. The reality of his birth is his naive 17 y.o. mother was seduced by a predatory foreign student who was still married with children in his native land; ergo, our president is a textbook definition of a BASTARD. That's the reason he was not invited to the royal wedding next week as the British Royals refuse to accept BASTARDS for official functions; this was the REAL reason Michael Collins was sent to the Treaty of Independence signing as Dev was a BASTARD as well (his real father was a Protestant landlord in Bruree, County Limerick named Thomas Atkinson). If they invite Dev's grandson, Eamon O Cuiv and Sir Anthony O 'Reilly to Croke Park on May 23rd, it can be billed as The BASATARD'S BALL (Come one, come all) instead of the BIFFO Replacement Tour (the US sending our BIFFO since Ireland has lost theirs', Brian Cowen). Both govern like their county of ancestry OFFALY (pronounced "Awfully" of course).

I would much rather have someone who has battled in the private sector arena, rather than the spectator in the stands whose admission was paid for by someone else....Anyone see any of obamas school transcripts? His passports? His real long form birth certificate? His state senate voting record? His employment record? How about his relationship with Tony rezko? Y'all feel OK with that?

If Obamacare is so brilliant why have there been 1000 waivers granted so far?
kevinhayes | Apr 23, 2011, 11:29 AM EDT
@jdi2269 - I'll name you one BIG thing - the Affordable Care Act of 2010. Unlike the GOP, who are hell bent on eliminating Medicare, President Obama recognizes the pressing need to reform health care in the USA. The right has one thing correct - it truly is Obamacare. If you need more "things" that "Obama has done to improve our nation", let me know and I'll be more than happy to oblige. BTW, no need to shout!

Trump is exactly who the Republican Party wants, someone as financially bankrupt as they are in ideas.
hancock | Apr 22, 2011, 10:07 PM EDT
Awesome another column about Trump, it almost makes me miss Palin.

He's going to fix the Chinese' maybe it's roast Peking duck. Putting Trump in charge of the cash is akin to putting Dracula in charge of the blood bank,he'd bleed it dry.
tommurphy | Apr 22, 2011, 04:26 PM EDT
Trump will never run. He's a germophobe - not quite to the Howard Hughes/Kleenex-boxes-on-his-feet level yet, but he could no more press the flesh than he could be modest, despite having much to be modest about. The man has an ego as big and glittering as the lobbies of his buildings: all flash, no substance.

Beng a bankrupt might rule him out here, but it would look good on his CV in Ireland. Though the most admired people in Ireland are not the bankrupts, they're the ones who have bankrupted the country.
Blkcatwm | Apr 22, 2011, 02:25 PM EDT
Trump's Bankruptcy's have never been Secret. Why do you think something like that would stop him from running? I personally think he's just fueling the fires to get some action started by whomever is going to run in the next election. What does it matter to you? You aren't an American. I am.

HEY ROBERTS....NAME ONE THING OBAMA HAS DONE TO IMPROVE OUR NATION!

It's too bad that the Donald couldn't run. The Republicans need another loser to take his place. They have plenty to chose from. How about John "The Weeper" Boehner.
TheOldPerfessor | Apr 22, 2011, 11:05 AM EDT
Don't any of you righties remember 2008? The economy was in shambles after Bush spent 7 years borrowing from China to cover the expenses of two blown wars. You ought to turn off Fox news sometime and go read a book.
kevinhayes | Apr 22, 2011, 11:04 AM EDT
Trump is a empty suit blowhard who will never run for the Presidency. He would have to reveal his less than stellar net worth and he is never going to do that. He is a essentially a front man for businesses with his name on it that he has relatively little equity participation in. His main income is Celebrity Apprentice. "Apprentice" is exactly what he is. I love it - Democrats for Trump!
dearlyinaz | Apr 22, 2011, 11:02 AM EDT
Borrowing money is a big part of business, especially real estate, which is the business of Donald Trump. Borrowing money is also a big part of running the government. Dick Cheney said, "deficits don't matter" as he and Bush took us from surplus to the largest budget deficits in U.S. history. You cannot deny that they left a huge hole which the country is still digging out of. Oh, but we mustn't blame Bush/Cheney or the Republicans who controlled both the House and Senate as they funded two wars and Part D of Medicare (adding $60 billion to the annual Medicare budget) at the same time they cut taxes. Brilliant! The Donald is a very good marketer, but have you noticed he is trying to pander to every conservative group with his new-found positions on abortion, international trade, and Obama's birth certificate. And I love his explanation for three marriages - that he works too much! He is very entertaining and I look forward to him running.
shdwolf1 | Apr 22, 2011, 10:40 AM EDT
I'd rather back a businessman who's come out on top than someone who's never ran any kind of business and who's idea of fixing the economy is to borrow more instead of cutting unnecessary fat. The U.S. needs someone who can run a business, and isn't afraid of firing a few czars who aren't earning their keep... Someone needs to tell Obama, "You're Fired!"
jacke47 | Apr 22, 2011, 10:28 AM EDT
Mr. PR or should that be PC, Trump never filed for personal bankruptcy. His corporations filed under Chapter 11 to reorganize. Trump's businesses went on to fare well and he is still collecting his 2 million salary. Seems reorganization works. The current administration also needs to reorganize the financial meee they have created in the past two years. No more blame the prior administration as Bama is STILL alluding to. Get over it; get to work. Put down the golf club and the campaign hat. Now you have yet another war-like situation ongoing with far more revolutionaries being killed than ever occurred under the current despot.
