Despite hype Hillary Clinton has no interest in Vice Presidency

The Hillary for vice president seems to be gaining momentum with several leading pundits weighing in behind former Virginia governor Douglas Wilder who has called for Joe Biden to be replaced.

Howard Fineman on MSNBC said Hillary would take the job in a minute and Chris Matthews eagerly agreed.

If this isn't silly season madness then I don't know what is.

Joe Biden is safe as Obama's running mate in 2012 bar some unforeseen catastrophe.

Equally, Hillary Clinton will step down in a second Obama term. Secretary of State is a gruelling job and it is almost unheard of to stay two terms.

But Hillary would no more trade the State Department for the Vice President slot than she will run again in 2016.

Hillary has made an historic contribution to American politics, a great First Lady an even better senator and even her opponents agree an excellent Secretary of State.

But by 2016 she will be 69 and way too old to run for president.

She knows better than anyone the incredible pressure that a presidential run entails. She knows from personal experience what eight years in the White House can do to you as well.

She has been in public service all her life, either by her husband's side or in her own right. She deserves to kick back and enjoy her later years, hopefully with a grandchild or two, and her husband and daughter Chelsea

I'm puzzled. Just because Hilary and Bill once played a part (in her case a walk-on part) in the Peace Process, does that mean that they should be regarded for ever after as Irish-Americans? I rather admire her; I even quite like her husband – though he's an awful bollox. But why do we have to assume that she in particular is in some way a part of the Great Diaspora?
COULDN'T BE ANY WORSE THAN WHAT WE GOT NOW...
69 is way too old to run for pres really?
President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are both doing such a superb job of moving the United Sates forward That must be said in jest. Or the poster is delusional. Like or hate the last administration but look at this one for what it's done.
LOL ... Hillary has an interest in every election, whether She is in the mix or not.
President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are both doing such a superb job of moving the United Sates forward compared with the backward reactionary behavior of the Party of No that there will not be a need for Hilary Clinton to consider the vice presidency. As much as do-nothing right-wing Americans moan and groan, there is no substitute for success. The Ayes have it, the Nays don't.
OF COURSE HILLARY DOESN'T WANT TO BE VICE PRESIDENT....SHE REALIZES HUSSEIN OBAMA WILL NEVER BE RE=ELECTED AND SHE CAN RUN FOR PRESIDENT!
Really - Who cares? America's politics are so flawed now with Obama's Fruit and Nut Company, that only a revolution will straighten them out.
There isn't any way Hillary would consider taking the second slot. She would not like losing even the independence she has now. Being on the losing team in 2012 would not help her legacy. She is more likely to resign and run against Obama for the Presidential nomination. That is only if Obama continues to stumble lower and lower in the polls before the 2012 election.
Hmm, looks like the broken clock is stuck at 10:37.
Yeah, let her kick back and spend time at the ranch clearing brush . . . or whatever it is that politicians do when they retire. I always mistrusted her, especially after she talked down the Iraq War and then voted for it. She embarrassed a lot of her supporters that day, because voting against the war wasn't difficult. Most Democrats were able to do it, but not Hillary. Bill's a sneak too, but at least he has some talent. Hillary doesn't.
