O'Donnell's got just enough Italian blood in her to resemble the Madonna paintings of the the Italian Renaissance. She's canny enough to play up that resemblance, too. The outfit she's wearing in the photograph looks like something the Blessed Mother would wear - a sky blue shawl over a white blouse.

If you're selling chastity, you might as well look chaste! I compared the photograph with a Google image search for "Mother Mary" and voila! - several close resemblances, and one that's spot on.

O'Donnell's screechy voice is probably the reason she's still unmarried in her 40's. She sounds like she could be a first rate nag - maybe that's why she chose to become a "Christian activist." I'm not quite sure what that is, but it sounds like We need a whole lot more of Jesus and a lot less rock 'n roll.

Chris Coons seems like a straightforward working politician. Some of his decisions please some of the people, and others displease some of the people. But at the end of the day, this is a responsible guy with a real job. I don't know the same for Christine O'Donnell. She seems more a media creation than somebody like the rest of us. I don't believe she's going to connect with ordinary the way Coons will.

I don't ordinarily quote Karl Rove with approval, but he sees the same problems with Christine O'Donnell that I do. He didn't cite the screecy voice and the fact that she doesn't have a husband, but he did note that she had to be taken to court to pay off her college tuition. This was in the context of remarks in which Rove was sharply critical of Delaware Republicans for allowing this to happen.

dennisQ...Her screechy voice -vs- his being MARXIST!! This is why knowbody takes left wing liberals serious. It's also why they are going to lose. Your pie in the sky lies aren't working anymore. Time to try something else that won't work either. Spending more in 2 years than the rest of the world in 10 does not create jobs. HELLO!!!! If you haven't noticed it's the dems. who want to extend the Bush tax cuts now. They are even calling them the obama middle class tax cuts. Imitation is the best form of flattery.

America is in the biggest jobs crisis this country ever faced, and all Republicans can think of is ways to exploit the situation. Of course, that's all Republicans ever do. Their motto is What's in it for me.

Christine O'Donnell has a screechy voice and a checkered past. She's cancelling public appearances to give her public relations army time to formulate a response to all the dirt that's coming out.

O'Donnell's speech to the "Value Voters" shows she's committed to a narrow focus. Republican leaders have probably already written off the election. Of course they'll throw money at it; that's what they do. They're already planning a return to back room deals.

O'Donnell's opponent Coon voted to increase taxes every time a vote came up. He voted to increase spending & brought bills to the floor to increase spending minself. He admits to being a MARXIST & is proud of it. Fitting in perfectly with the obama agenda. Now do O'Donnell's petty past problems seem so important?

The cavalry rides to the rescue! Just when it looked like the Democrats were going to define Christine O'Donnell before she had a chance to define herself to Delaware voters, Republican operatives are arriving in Wilmington, suitcases bulging with cash and election flyers.

O'Donnell is already writing off the youthful indiscretions of her past, notably her comments about the "lustfulness" of masturbation. That was 15 years ago, says Christine. I'm way older than that now, and I pledge to respect the Constitution.

It may be a case of too little, too late. Is O'Donnell now going to position herself as older and more settled? That's hard to square with her natural exuberance which doesn't always connect well with voters who are looking for somebody, well, more conservative. And there's that marriage issue again. Is she going to claim that she is "called" to the single life? I don't think it's going to work for her. Her squeaky clean-ness reads to me as, well, squeaky . . . in the sense of being an annoying gadfly full of advice for other people to follow.

There's no delicate way to ask questions about the sex life of an anti-sex crusader, Monsoonman. O'Donnell's professional career seems to be built around a code of behavior that not many of can emulate, even if we thought it was the right thing to do.

She certainly has the choice to live the way she does - that's not the point. She's way out of the mainstream, even for a Republican.

You ever wonder why liberals, never care about their own ilks sexual proclivities, their right to "choice", their right to marry the same sex, their right to disrespect all religions, (except islam)...But if a conservative woman chooses not to marry it is cause for great alarm to them...LOL!!!! Because this election has national significance - control of the Senate is potentially at stake - both parties are going to put some serious effort into winning. Christine O'Donnell will face a scrutiny that she's never experienced. She wasn't expected to win the Republican primary, and when polls broke in her favor, it was too late for Mike Castle to do anything about it.

How come she's not married? She's supposed to be this great Christian woman who's committed to Christian teachings on sexuality. At 41 years old, is she still waiting for the right man to come along?

For an advocate of personal responsibility, Christine O'Donnell is pretty casual about paying debts. She settled her college tuition only after the University took her to court. She fell behind on her mortgage payments while she was running for office, and eventually sold the property to her campaign manager. And the IRS got after her for her taxes.

O'Donnell is not exactly working her way up the ladder in politics. Because she's never held office, her first elected office will be as a Senator. And she's never held really responsible positions either, except as a spokesperson for various out-of-the-mainstream causes. O'Donnell isn't giving the voters a lot to go on. Even the people who like her are taking a chance.

O'Donnell's opponent Chris Coons is a believable, down-to-earth family guy with lots of influential local friends. Unlike Mike Castle, who was blindsided by the late arrival of out-of-state money, Coons is prepared for battle with the Republican fringe elements that make up the Tea Party.

Delaware voters will recognize Christine O'Donnell as extreme, unseasoned and too personally undisciplined to be their senator. Chris Coons is a nice guy who has paid his dues. He has an attractive family and proven record. He should win easily.
