Christine O'Donnell victory opens door for Sarah Palin White House run
By: Patrick Roberts | Published Wednesday, September 15, 2010, 12:55 PM | Updated Friday, September 9, 2011, 9:49 PM
Christine O'Donnell's victory in
Delaware is the equivalent of the shot heard around the world.
It shows that
Sarah Palin will gallop to the Republican nomination in two years if the current seething anger in the party of Lincoln continues.
Who will stop Palin now with the Republican right in such a fired up, throw the bums out mood?
Mitt
Romney, not on your Nellie?
Newt Gingrich? Last century's man.
O'Donnell's victory is far more significant than that of Joe Miller in
Alaska. It occurred in a blue state where moderate
Republicans long held sway.
She deposed Michael Castle, the very epitome of the establishment Republican party, a long time moderate who seemed a perfect fit for the vacant senate seat.
Along with Sharon Angle's victory in
Nevada, it shows that the Republican right wing is transcendent that no candidate is too extreme for them and that the party has lurched far more to the right than anyone believed.
Back home in Alaska Sarah Palin may well be measuring her prospects for
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue if this continues.
As I have written here before it could well happen.

She can get my little dog too!
seanomelbourne | Sep 20, 2010, 07:40 PM EDT
How can she pay a tax bill when she is unemployed. I know use her campaign funds (that's if there is any funds remaining after she pays her rent and fuels up her broomstick).
maloney | Sep 20, 2010, 08:47 AM EDT
Na she's saving to pay the Dems. tax bills they all seem to keep forgetting to pay.
seanomelbourne | Sep 20, 2010, 12:02 AM EDT
Maybe she can use the 1.2 million dollars to pay her mortgage and student loans.

I have a deep feelig about fascism, it's no good, ask the Jews, or British service man who fought those bastards.

Ah Plasticpaddy, have you and the other anti-teabaggers reserved you rooms in Greenland beginning November 3, 2010?
maloney | Sep 17, 2010, 09:09 AM EDT
In three days she's taken in over $1.2 million & counting, while obama & biden had a skype conference with Castle on Wed. the 16th. Hmm Castle is a Repub.???
maloney | Sep 16, 2010, 08:07 PM EDT
Recriminations? maybe. But look at how much fun we're having in the meantime. The septic comments, the bitter attitudes. The election may end up a gimme with all the strokes, heart attacks & not tonight honey, I got a horrible headache going around, there may be no liberals left by Nov.
norinalundy | Sep 16, 2010, 07:49 PM EDT
aargh!
seanomelbourne | Sep 16, 2010, 07:03 PM EDT
Don't worry Paddy she will eventually Palin to insignificance. When the recriminations begin after November who will be blamed for the GOP's failure to take control of the congress.

Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dummer...the 2 party same agenda mikey mouse show and spare change they no longer believe in... aw shucks. The bulk of the unwashed American (sic) masses thinks that choice means eating at McDoggy's and going for Coke or next door at Burger Piggy and "choosing" the Pepsi juice. No wonder the xiodons own the political machine and everything that goes with it. The US absolutely deserves the Palin dame...but does the rest of the planet for goodness sake?
hancock | Sep 16, 2010, 12:32 PM EDT
Anybody is better than the idiot we have now in the WH.
paddypower | Sep 16, 2010, 10:25 AM EDT
Congratulations for Ms O Donnell... not indeed for your tea making abilities rather for landing on the coveted list of the US's most corrupt politicians. Now we can look forward to complete insanity when the Alaska woman that can see Russia from her outhouse takes the White house. It can only get better as tea floods the land and Mad Hatters breed like rabbits. "Adding Ms. O'Donnell to the list was an easy call. It has been years since she had a steady job, and instead has been embezzling funds to finance her personal expenses. Ms. O'Donnell has been living at her campaign headquarters and having her campaign cover the rent, a practice prohibited by the Federal Election Commission. "Why get a job when you can run for office and illegally have others finance your lifestyle?," said Melanie Sloan, CREW Executive Director. "It is astonishing that as a candidate for federal office, Ms. O'Donnell appears to be stealing brazenly from her campaign contributors." Ms. O'Donnell also has a tenuous relationship with the truth. For years, she routinely claimed to have a college degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University; in reality she finally received her diploma a scant two weeks ago. Further, she has claimed to have won two counties in her race against Joe Biden in 2008; in reality, she won none. "Ms. O'Donnell has no qualms about lying whenever it suits her purposes," said Sloan. "Americans have a right to expect elected officials to act with honesty and integrity. Sadly, Ms. O'Donnell epitomizes the antithesis of those values." citizensforethics.org

I will take these two against the two idiots we have in the White House now, Obama and Joe. These socialists want to ruin America and are doing a pretty good job so far. Have you heard the two speak out lately, Obama with his da's and uh's and Bite Me is one big gaffe.
tldoran | Sep 15, 2010, 11:31 PM EDT
Have you heard O'Donnell talk? She's got the IQ of a turnip. If Palin is a runner up for Miss Alaska, O'Donnell would be Little Miss Kindergarden.
seanomelbourne | Sep 15, 2010, 09:14 PM EDT
not worth a comment.
maloney | Sep 15, 2010, 08:52 PM EDT
You will see it all again to the dread of the liberal progressives. Palin & Beck for Dictators of the world.
seanomelbourne | Sep 15, 2010, 07:47 PM EDT
The "mainstream" GOP will use the tea party and Sarah Palin to it's advantage and when they have no further use for them they will vilify and destroy them. Is Karl Rove the first crack in the marriage? who fears whom the most? Seen it all before.
willieboy | Sep 15, 2010, 07:26 PM EDT
wise up! All this did was guarantee the seat for the Democrat....
| Sep 15, 2010, 06:27 PM EDT
Reference the post by Vincent13: There's no way that any sane person can compare two idioys like Palin and O'Donnell to Abraham Lincoln and James Madison. Abe and James must be turning over in their graves.
Mairin67 | Sep 15, 2010, 06:18 PM EDT
I hate to have my family name - O'Donnell - mentioned anywhere near this hideous woman McCain pulled out of the wilderness with her neanderthal thinking.
plasticpaddy | Sep 15, 2010, 06:16 PM EDT
Great to see some sense on the comment thread below. Kudos to you Ratslayer!
Ratslayer | Sep 15, 2010, 06:00 PM EDT
Ah, the teabaggers on this site are the gift that keeps on giving: Keep up yer bat-crazy ignorant racist paranoid rants because in the end most voters--DEMS and Repugs alike--will prove that the CONFIDENTLY STUPID of America will remain on fringe where they rightly belong.
vincem13 | Sep 15, 2010, 05:49 PM EDT
Dear Mr. Roberts: Have you ever heard of "Observer Parallax", in which what a person seems to see is radically different from what is actually there due to his or her viewing position? It seems, kind sir, that you may be suffering from that malady. Sarah Palin and the other conservatives are not "extreme right", unless your American History book was written by the New York Times and covers only the last 10 years. Sarah Palin and Christine O'Donnell are mainstream conservatives, very much like Abraham Lincoln and James Madison. They only appear to be on the extreme right when one moves to the far extreme LEFT, where you appear to reside. I can understand your confusion. Ignorance does that to one.

Who besides the Irish Central writers watch MSNBC?
maloney | Sep 15, 2010, 03:38 PM EDT
this was just a primary. What in the hell are all you poor liberals going to do in Nov. when many of the Dems. bite the dust? In 2012 when obummer gets his arse thrashed, the whaling & nashing will be wonderful to see & hear.
jackiefogus | Sep 15, 2010, 12:52 PM EDT
I LOVE IT. HOPE IT HAPPENS. ALSO THE ONLY IMMIGRANTS WE PREFER ARE THE IRISH!!!
Rebelforce | Sep 15, 2010, 12:23 PM EDT
Obviously, Republican voters across America are no longer taking their orders from the Neocon, country club, Republican Establishment with candidates typified by disasters like George W. Bush. Good for them. Power to the People! Let the voters decide in November---not CNN, MSNBC or Foxnews.
mayoman | Sep 15, 2010, 11:55 AM EDT
MSNBC reported last night that an exit poll of voters indicated that 44% of the people that cast ballots for Mike Castle will not vote for Christine O'Donnell in November. That's good news, as it means that not all Republicans have lost their minds, and all are not necessarily willing to get out their old, mildewed sheets and ride with the New Klan of the right: The Tea Party.

@Yerffac... Get help, my friend. You need professional help. And Caroline Ryan, my darlin' I've got two words for you and your hopey-changey Ted Kennedy daydream: Scott Brown.

Sara will depose Otay.
MaryM232 | Sep 15, 2010, 10:43 AM EDT
If a Palin win guarantees an exodus of the hyphenated, then run, Palin, run! Obama is the hope of those who wish to destroy the US. And frankly, those who want to talk Palin down, do so while propping up the truly idiotic rationales of the welfare queen president, not one jot of intelligent life apparent among them.
Yerffac | Sep 15, 2010, 10:34 AM EDT
Your headline--don't make me throw up!
CarolineRyan | Sep 15, 2010, 10:29 AM EDT
We can only hope and pray (and vote) that this bubble-headed puppet never gets anywhere near the Oval Office. It is ridiculous to support the idea of her candidacy purely because she has some Irish blood in her. The Kennedy brothers must be rolling in their graves. Obama is a good man - hardworking and very intelligent. He deserves a second term. And he was the last presidential candidate to receive the late Sen. Ted Kennedy's endorsement. Let's honor that.
ciarrai | Sep 15, 2010, 10:19 AM EDT
We are leaving for Ireland to scout a spot in the event Palin is elected POTUS. Can we be that deranged to elect this no-nothing? If you hate the USA, you should vote for her. Palin's nomination would be the ultimate indication of the "dumbing down of America." Can you imagine her talking with world leaders and not thought in her head other than "do my shoes match my hair?" I mean really what could be worse? I hope she runs so Obama is assured of another term. The times are too dangerous to have the likes of Palin steering our ship.
Yerffac | Sep 15, 2010, 10:12 AM EDT
Oh, for God's sake! The stupid teabaggers are here too? Obama is the best hope we have for this country. There is only one thing "wrong" with him--he's black. Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and their ilk, ane just rabble rousers, giving the stupid sheep that follow them a mask behind which to hide as they spout their hatred. Just what is the tea-baggers' gripe? Not many of could even articulate it. Let me try: White America is a dying breed. It will not be long before whites are a minority in this country. I hope the next majority is kinder to us whites that we were to them.
Cherishfan | Sep 15, 2010, 10:10 AM EDT
Sara Palin is a sideshow that the Democrats are laughing at. Surely the Republicans will get a decent leader before 2012.
chesapeake | Sep 15, 2010, 09:48 AM EDT
I love it. The liberals are so damned afraid of Sarah Palin that they grasp anything for negative. No, I do not think that Palin will rule the White House; rather that she has been assigned the task of keeping both liberal and moderates slightly off balance by throwing her support to conservative candidates - regardless of their political affiliations. It will eventually dawn upon the Republicans that conservatism is the best path for the country.
FastEddy | Sep 15, 2010, 09:39 AM EDT
LOL ... Patrick, you have missed the point, entirely. Ms. Palin is not a viable candidate for 2012, for any national office. Its going to be Carly Fiorina for sure ...
clonmel21 | Sep 15, 2010, 09:34 AM EDT
I did not know she was running in Ireland. Oh, thats right this is an american news outlet..how stupid of me to come to Irish Central and think I would find Irish stuff. Why don't you re-name this site to "world central"
CitizenWhy | Sep 15, 2010, 08:59 AM EDT
Every Irish family understands what it means when we say someone is "not right."This poor woman is one of those "not right"" souls. Fortunately she took away a sure victory from a Republican and assured the election of A democrat to the Senate. Thank Gd her time in the spotlight as an Irish American will be short-lived.
Irishnewsman | Sep 15, 2010, 08:56 AM EDT
What a mistake that would be. She had better get a dictionary. She is an empty skirt. If people can't see that then we are in big trouble if she runs and gets elected.. Thats a BIG IF.......
GeorgeDillon | Sep 15, 2010, 02:50 AM EDT
I have to laugh at Dennis telling republicans what is or is not in their best interest. Listen Dennis, keep your silly advice for the Democrats, though I suspect they'll pay you as much heed as will the Republicans. This was a great victory for a TRUE Irish American.
McNabb1966 | Sep 15, 2010, 01:36 AM EDT
@DennisQ... Not in the party's best interest? Perhaps, but that's nothing new to the Democrats, either. Maybe you heard about the futile primary fight the wingnuts put Blanche Lincoln through in Arkansas. Guess which party will capture that Senate seat in November? Adios Blanche... But you keep self-medicating with that koolaid, pal. The Dims are going to be doing a lot of that come November and for a long time afterwards.
DennisQ | Sep 15, 2010, 12:05 AM EDT
This is a case of Republicans not voting their own best interest, as O'Donnell was allowed to get away with accusing Mike Castle of not being "manly" enough. The Republican Party is turning into a cartoon version of right wing America.
In a sense, they deserve the wandering around in the desert that will surely follow their choice to alienate moderates. If they come to their senses they'll stop believing in the wisdom of primary voters and go back to back room deals. Party bosses at least were smart enough to run viable candidates. Wait till some of these Tea Party screwballs debate real politicians.
