Bill Maher slams Rush Limbaugh, George Will, George Bush

Bill Maher has slammed
Rush Limbaugh and other leading
Republicans over their reaction to the Louisiana oil spill on his program 'Real Time. '
He slams Limbaugh for saying the oil spill was "natural."
Quoting the right wing host, Maher stated "Limbaugh said the ocean will take care of this. It's as natural [the oil] as the ocean water is." That's right, a petrochemical stew is very natural to wetlands. You know what, you dipshit? Mercury's natural too -- you don't put it in your Cheerios.
Maher also went after
Texas governor Rick Perry who says it was an act of God. "I think it was an act of Dick Cheney," Maher said, "And it shows the disastrous results of having lobbyists write laws.
Newsweek columnist
George Will was another target:
"Why haven't we actually gotten off the oil? One reason is global warming deniers like George Will. He knows better."
Maher also compared Bush and Obama over
Afghanistan and the war on terror
"Let's compare Bush to
Obama in a more serious way. Bush always used to say "We're fighting them over there, so we don't have to fight them over here." And we would all go "Oh, you moron." But that's basically the policy Obama is doing. Obama may call it something different, but doubling down in Afghanistan and sending more troops in there is fighting them over there, so we don't have to fight them here. But I'd like to say, "Memo to the administration: They're already here." So what is the point of us being in Afghanistan?

Politicans are scrambling to protect themselves from criticism regarding the Oil Spill. If Governments had done their job correctly, and not allowed themselves to be led around by the nose by BIG BUSINESS it would not have happened. The U.S people and many other countries plus the invironment are the sacrifical lambs in this disaster. The real problems are yet to come.

keep your comments fair and balanced like Bill Maher and they will be posted.
Monsoonman | May 13, 2010, 09:43 AM EDT
jflanigan: Looks like you passed. Keep your comments the size of a twitter comment and they'll get posted. The only long winded comments allowed around here are by the ultra liberals who run this site. That is there "fairness doctrine".

In the past two weeks none of my comments on any issue have been posted. This is a test.

Bill Maher for President

Limbaugh has found a cash cow--why wouldn't he say what he does?--it's good business. I just don't believe, he believes so fervently everything he says, because of his ideological convictions. He is the master of propoganda for pay--a legal business. On the other hand, right or wrong, I believe Maher is a true believer in his own spiel.

As for Bill Maher, he is usually spot on in his political views and I feel much the same way. While I wish he would have a little more religious tolerance, he is spot on about big moth air bag Limbaugh. Hopefully people in other countries will know most Americans find him completely obnoxious.

I would like all of our troops home, Bush got us into this mess, and I had hoped Obama would get us out. I will give him a little more time, but we want our troops home and out of harms way.

Bill Maher gets my vote as a very astute politial mind that isn't afraid to take on the somewhat popular, politically correct, right wing view of everything. Limbaugh, the demagogue, is in it for the money, Maher makes you think with his analyses even if you don't agree with him.
Maoleitigh | May 10, 2010, 10:02 PM EDT
Maher is an idiot

BigGuns | May 10, 2010, 05:39 PM EDT

While I don’t always agree with Bill Maher I pretty much always support what he says about Rush Limbaugh, particularly when he called him 'The Louis Farrakhan of White People.' And Maher has actually had plenty of conservative guests on his show and has been perfectly respectful of them. Besides wasn’t he dating the obnoxious Ann Coulter for a while? I think that’s when he went down in my estimation. Still….

Chesapeake, it is important to know what the hell you are talking about before you take such potshots. I have actually witnessed people on Maher's show who disagree with him. He's relevant, funny and he obviously annoys you of the conservative persuasion. What's not to like?
ciarrai | May 10, 2010, 01:52 PM EDT
Hey, John G. Hogan, Maher is relevant. How do I know? I spend my hard earned money to get HBO just to watch him. I bet you think Dennis Miller is relevant. It pains me to hear that once funny SNL Weekend Update host sound so painfully unfunny on the odd moments I catch him on O'Reilly's show. How the once funny have fallen. Want funny? Bill Maher on HBO. Relevant, too.
John G. Hogan | May 10, 2010, 01:32 PM EDT
he wishes he was relevant......................

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. In this case, other than the "barbara streisand" about global warming, I think he's got it right. Especially about our foreign wars.

I forget... was Bill Maher a bad comedian who became bad - and biased - political talk show host, or was it the other way arounsd? Have you ever noticed that he usually has only political hacks who on his panels who agree with him.. Let it be known that he never lets the facts influence his vituperative comementary. I would really like to see him in a one-on-one debate w/o a teleprompter with just about any conservatove talk show host,
Searlit | May 10, 2010, 10:14 AM EDT
Although I find some of Bill Maher's humor offensive, he has keen political insight.
seanomelbourne | May 10, 2010, 09:13 AM EDT
Limbaugh and co. are a sad lot. What type of ingrates would believe anything they have to say.
cullinane | May 10, 2010, 08:48 AM EDT
I don't know anyone who watches that idiot. His comments are irrelevant. Maher is the moron. I would like to see how he compares in the ratings for his time slot. It can't be good.
CanadianPat | May 10, 2010, 08:37 AM EDT
I lean to the left, however I believe That Maher is lost in his self admiration. He uses his wit to profess a doctrine of the blind. He has eyes but he does not see, has ears but he does not hear!

The right wing Chicken-Hawks are obnoxious, know nothing Neo-Nazi right wing tools. Intelligent people don't watch them. I heard what Rush Limbaugh said in Maher detail- and Rush Limbaugh did not. Their attention span is not able to do that. They work off of out of context sound bites. They are morons. And you people who write about them are aiding and abetting them to spread their vitriol and stupidity. They are meaningless to the United States.
LarryLinn | May 08, 2010, 09:58 AM EDT
coolpillow, "leftist tool," "Morron (sic)," "meaningless to the United States." Perhaps you should consider toning down your over-the-top rhetoric. In my opinion Maher is one of the most relevant and spot-on voices on the air. Consider this: Other than blowing steam from your nether end, what value do you bring to the community.
