Bill Maher has slammed Rush Limbaugh and other leading Republicans over their reaction to the Louisiana oil spill on his program 'Real Time. '
He slams Limbaugh for saying the oil spill was "natural."
Quoting the right wing host, Maher stated "Limbaugh said the ocean will take care of this. It's as natural [the oil] as the ocean water is." That's right, a petrochemical stew is very natural to wetlands. You know what, you dipshit? Mercury's natural too -- you don't put it in your Cheerios.
Maher also went after Texas governor Rick Perry who says it was an act of God. "I think it was an act of Dick Cheney," Maher said, "And it shows the disastrous results of having lobbyists write laws.
Newsweek columnist George Will was another target:
"Why haven't we actually gotten off the oil? One reason is global warming deniers like George Will. He knows better."
Maher also compared Bush and Obama over Afghanistan and the war on terror
"Let's compare Bush to Obama in a more serious way. Bush always used to say "We're fighting them over there, so we don't have to fight them over here." And we would all go "Oh, you moron." But that's basically the policy Obama is doing. Obama may call it something different, but doubling down in Afghanistan and sending more troops in there is fighting them over there, so we don't have to fight them here. But I'd like to say, "Memo to the administration: They're already here." So what is the point of us being in Afghanistan?

jflanigan: Looks like you passed. Keep your comments the size of a twitter comment and they'll get posted. The only long winded comments allowed around here are by the ultra liberals who run this site. That is there "fairness doctrine".

Limbaugh has found a cash cow--why wouldn't he say what he does?--it's good business. I just don't believe, he believes so fervently everything he says, because of his ideological convictions. He is the master of propoganda for pay--a legal business. On the other hand, right or wrong, I believe Maher is a true believer in his own spiel.

As for Bill Maher, he is usually spot on in his political views and I feel much the same way. While I wish he would have a little more religious tolerance, he is spot on about big moth air bag Limbaugh. Hopefully people in other countries will know most Americans find him completely obnoxious.

I would like all of our troops home, Bush got us into this mess, and I had hoped Obama would get us out. I will give him a little more time, but we want our troops home and out of harms way.

Bill Maher gets my vote as a very astute politial mind that isn't afraid to take on the somewhat popular, politically correct, right wing view of everything. Limbaugh, the demagogue, is in it for the money, Maher makes you think with his analyses even if you don't agree with him.

While I don’t always agree with Bill Maher I pretty much always support what he says about Rush Limbaugh, particularly when he called him 'The Louis Farrakhan of White People.' And Maher has actually had plenty of conservative guests on his show and has been perfectly respectful of them. Besides wasn’t he dating the obnoxious Ann Coulter for a while? I think that’s when he went down in my estimation. Still….

Chesapeake, it is important to know what the hell you are talking about before you take such potshots. I have actually witnessed people on Maher's show who disagree with him. He's relevant, funny and he obviously annoys you of the conservative persuasion. What's not to like?
