| Barack Obama shooting "skeet" at Camp David (Getty) |
It is Barack Obama’s “I didn’t inhale” moment when he looks silly, dumb and plain stupid.
I’m talking about the picture of our president shooting off some kind of gun at Camp David and pretending he is somehow on the side of gun owners.
He’s not and he knows it and so does the world.
Some clever(?) PR guy wanted it both ways and released the old photo of the president skeet shooting, whatever that is.
I’m surprised “Bam Bam” Obama went for it. He should have smelled a fake a mile off.
He was doing well taking on the gun lobby until that moment, standing up to them, pushing for legislation, having his Vice President gather the evidence for a big move.
Now he has cheapened his own standing by this silly trick.
Obama doesn’t need to kow-tow to gun owners, especially not those defending the crazy assault weapon line.

He needs to present a clear and viable alternative to how guns are licensed or not licensed in this country and seek to legislate accordingly.
Instead he has given the NRA an opening that they must have enjoyed enormously given the dreadful state of their own public relations these days and their downright semi-deranged spokesman Wayne LaPierre.

Come on Mr. President, you know better than to play a pretend game where you have a foot in both camps.
It is a sure fire way, excuse the pun, to ensure that you lose ground and respect in both camps.
So put the gun away and get back to the reality that you want to do better on guns and that most of the country is solidly behind you.
That should be good enough “Bang Bang” -- and fire that PR guy who told you this was a good plan. See more: Irish News Blog , US president , Irish Democrats , Irish in US Politics

Strange you should write "Bam Bam". I remember "Bam Bam" Bigelow from a 1994 Candid Camera experience I had with him. "Bam Bam" Bigelow was a professional wrestler with the World Wrestling Federation, I think it was called. He died a few years back, possibly from taking steroids; I think he was 46 years old. So when you write Bam Bam, I think of him. R.I.P., Bam Bam.

"Where are the pictures?" asks an ignorant Congresstwinkie from Goobervill,m taking a break from her actual supposed job of solving problems that face our country. If he doesn't produce them, he's hiding something, and it will be the lead story on Flak's new for months. Usually, Camp David is a respite from the camera, but I suppose that is one more rule only applying to White presidents. Thanks for keeping this non-story alive.

Time to TAX all firearms and ammunition to pay the Medical expenses and the Disability benefits for victims of accidental & deliberate shootings. Much of this expense is paid today by us, taxpayers, through common coffers - Medicare, Medicaid, Insurance, etc. Just like a car - tax, insurance and tax on gas.

Mr. Roberts, how very ignorant of you!!! There's a big difference between shooting skeet with a shotgun than there is proposing legislation to curb the use of assault weapons. Must be a slow news day for you.

Sometimes, the writers of stories are more ignorant then the story they are writing about. In this case we have a VERY IGNORANT writer. Who probably watches Faux News also? Never has the President ever once said he was going to take anybody's guns. He has made it clear that the amount rounds in a clip must be limited. Have a nice day nitwit.

The 2nd Amendment was written by fearing slavers whose history of abuse we gloss over - rape of their lesser humans - their indians blacks enslaved, those who one day would have had enough. Akin to our Palestinian unfortunates of today.

Obama, school shootings, Chicago murders...take what you want for the argument., either side...Its a waste of time, and the continued cheery picking of facts, misrepresentations of mechanical objects, Piers Morgan debates even NRA nonsense is only adding to the most erroneous arguments that stupidity can contribute.
You need to educate yourself, The so called assault weapons you crave to hate are no different then any average hunting rifle in the U.S. In fact the loads they fire are significantly less powerful and any one can modify anything to do anything that there nefarious hearts desire including break one of 20,0000 gun laws already on the books to commit UN-speakable acts. Everything is in existence for this to continue including 270,000,000 million firearms to choose from, owned by the significantly average. Obama can shoot anything on camera he likes, It means nothing...and has zero value too either side of the argument...The extraordinary amount of ignorance on the subject by a populous so overwhelmed with grieving for itself it cannot see the forest through the tress made of assault weapons. If you hate firearms and why not...They are pretty destructive..Its easier if you flat out hate the United States...it makes more sense as the problem is cemented in the culture...and blaming firearms because they look "Bad Ass" is all your doing.

If Obama had had no picture, right wing-nuts (that's most of you folks) would have continued to call him a phony.
Now that he has produced a photo, you more-ons admit that he is: A Phony !
(Book of) Kell Surprise !
That's why you have no credibility.

You make me sick! There is nothing wrong with skeet shooting but make it a human target and that is DEAD WRONG. Lay off the comments on our dear President. He is the best!

What you fail to realize is that America has become the longest lasting democratic republic because we have legal protections for gun ownership. Our founding fathers realized that the biggest threat to the nation was the government itself and therefore allowed citizens to be armed. Jefferson even had a canon on his lawn and said he did not trust governments that wanted to disarm its populace. In Ireland you have a much different tradition, but do your gun laws keep the guns out of the hands of the IRA? No, bad guys will always violate the law...and guns protect people more often then they are used for improper reasons.

The 2nd Amendment was written to enable citizens to have protection against oppressive governments. A descendent of the Great Hunger, where the Irish were not allowed to own weapons and starved by the British, should understand the need. Look at the indefinite jailing under this and the former Administration if they BELIEVE you will attack the U.S. without any judicial proceedings. I can go on about killing innocents with unarmed drones. Maybe they'll come out with a picture of the President flying one.
