Arizona governor Jan Brewer signs harsh immigration bill, blames Obama

Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona today signed the toughest immigration enforcement bill in history and blamed the Obama administration for leaving Arizona no choice

She told a press conference at the state's National Guard headquarters, that it was not the job of state government to secure the border "but we have no other choice.''

"Those who have failed to protect us have shown only weakness and delay,'' she says, adding that top administration officials have "simply turned a blind eye to the issues that Arizona is being overrun by illegal immigration, terrorizing the citizens.''

"No matter the cost, no matter the sacrifice, we cannot shirk government's principle responsibilities to the citizens we serve to provide safety and security,'' she says.

LOL, terroring the citizens? Brewer have you been drinking? I've lived in AZ for 42 years to include growing up within an hour of the border and have NEVER felt terrorized by anyone hispanic or otherwise.

So now Arizona is being beaten down by bleeding heart libs and democrats because they actually ENFORCE the law and go after people who break it by entering the country illegally. God forbid we uphold the law around here. sheesh.

Manhattan...I guess the Arizona Police Chiefs also have your so called "naivete", because The Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police has sharply criticized the legislation: "The provisions of the bill remain problematic and will negatively affect the ability of law enforcement agencies across the state to fulfill their many responsibilities in a timely manner." They further state, they support "solutions that are fair, logical, and equitable."

I "get" that you are one with the Tea Party message to drag us back to the Confederacy. We've been there, we're not going back.

Well Manhattan Get ready to gag again. This will be the first state legally allowed to pull a person over and investigate their citizenship just because the "look" a certain way. How would that go over in New York? It wouldn't last a day.

McNamara31: if the Tea Party movement so 'radical' and out-of-the-mainstream (as as you obviously wish they were), then why would any politician anywhere 'pander' to them? Could it be that perhaps that whole, growing movement is QUITE mainstream, and further reflects a growing conservative majority, in this country? Hmmm...

It is so easy to be critical when you don't live in Arizona and are a victim of illegal criminals coming in and committing crimes especially on the remote ranchers where a farmer was recently killed. All you bleeding hearts that object to enforcing the law never live where these things are happening.
