Paddy Power the leading Irish bookmaker has Barack Obama at 8/11 to win the 2012 presidential election.

That means you put down eleven dollars and win eight.

I suggest you run don't walk to take those odds.

End of year polls show Obama back up close to the 50 per cent approval rate.

They also show that he is pretty much even with Mitt Romney on a head to head and clear of Gingrich if he was the candidate.

All in all he is being enormously helped by the kookiness of the Republican primary.

Gingrich's insane comments to fire judges he doesn't agree with and Ron Paul's suddenly haunted past as anti Black, anti Gay crusader have suddenly brought even more questions to the fore about this Republican field.

Meanwhile, despite all this nonsense, Romney can't seal the deal, can't break out of the 22 or 23 per cent support range.

Also expect Romney to do poorly in Iowa. Those who turn out for those caucuses are the real right-wing groups plus evangelicals.

The colder the weather the poorer he will do. If he loses badly be could be toast and the Republican hopes to take the presidency go down the tube

Obama will be relaxing in Hawaii wondering if he could be any luckier.

He has been an uninspiring president, too eager to please on too many occasions and always acting like he knew best no matter what the public thought.

Despite all that he matches up as an adult compared to this Republican field.

He can only pray it is not Romney, but even if it is, the sight of those Republicans ready to close down Congress -- again-- over the tax break for employers and employees battle sends its own signal.

Obama must be counting those lucky stars as he looks up at the Hawaii sky.

i think Patrick might commit suicide when his "irish" brother falls.
sing Fox and news in the same sentence is an oxymoron.
Obumma did a good job earning all his "smears". Fox news documents every news story which really ticks off you liberals !! Look what he has done to the once great USA !!
Romney's 10k bet, Perry's inexcusable answers, Cain and Gingrich's personal lives, and the Tea Party rigidity is giving Obama an easy inside track that he probably doesn't deserve. Talk about the luck of the Irish...he's got it. He was almost certainly (deserved or not), a one term president in any other setting.
The good old GOP smeared Obama with their lies and innuendos,to say he was no t "vetted" by the GOP is correct he was demonised by them, thru their surrogate Fox channel which is part of the discredited newscorp stable of lie sheets. The GOP CONTENDERS ARE AN ANTI MIDDLE CLASS BUNCH OF BUFOONS.
If candidate Obama had been vetted he would not be our President now. The Republicans are all being carefully vetted by the Obama media. We really need a leader not someone who only excels at reading from a teleprompter.
If anyone would vote for any of the Republican candidates, they would be, figuretively speaking, voting for "Daffy Duck", from what I have seen of their performances in the debates and on the stump. They all seem to be "way in over their head", as far as being qualified to be POTUS. The so-called competition certainly has not elevated Obama to any lofty perch, or even a low one. It's a sad commentary about the field when Obama looks good. Paddy Power has got it right....Obama by default.
This is an absurd piece that lacks thought and avoids the evidence. Unemployment is high without recent precedent, housing starts and sales are abysmal, and millions remain on unemployment. Although President Obama seems like a nice enough person, he continues to display ignorance of the issues and inability to govern. He is WAY IN OVER HIS HEAD. The polls show that Romney, Gingrich, and possibly Paul could beat him now. (unless Hillary is brought onto the ticket) We all know that you, Patrick Roberts, are a great Pres. Obama fan, but please report the news and stop trying to make it. Nollaig Shona agus Athbliain Mhaise Daoibh do irish Central, agus ceanna féin do na léithheóiri seo.
