Irishman man forced to eat his own ear after beating by thugs


A Kildare man was rushed to hospital after being forced to eat his own ear.

The 21-year-old was beaten up by a number of people in the town of Newbridge, (pictured), about thirty miles from Dublin and was also hit with a hammer and metal bar.

Why I'm betting Ireland have an historic single party Fine Gael government


Ireland's general election on Friday, February 25th may be about to return the kind of verdict that was so unlikely a few days ago that bookmakers were offering 25/1 on it.

A friend of mine, a senior figure in Fine Gael went into a bookmakers and took the bet. He is feeling pretty happy today.

A weekend poll showed the opposition right of center Fine Gael party on 38 percent and surging and the possibility of a one party government was suddenly front and center.

If Hosni Mubarak and Barack Obama had lived through some of the greatest upheavals in history here is how they might have reacted.

1776: Hosni Mubarakombama today took issue with efforts by George Washington to rid the American colonies of the British.

"We do not know what dangers lurk if we abandon the divine right of kings to rule" said Mubarakobama. "Some of these rebels have ridiculous ideas such as ordinary people voting and a constitution. We must listen to our elders and betters and be wary of new-fangled philosophies that could spread their contagion to Europe."

Passenger mutiny on Ryanair flight after extra baggage charge


There was a passenger mutiny aboard a Ryanair plane in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands after Ryanair tried to charge one passenger extra for carry on luggage.

The flight bound for Belgium was canceled and over one hundred passengers removed after the pilot radioed for assistance when friends of the passenger “became disruptive and refused to comply with crew instructions.”

Police were called but “following further disruptive behaviour, the police required for security reasons that this entire group be refused travel,” the statement from the Irish airline said.

'Hidden surge' could lead to single party Fine Gael Irish government says new poll

A single party Fine Gael government led by Enda Kenny is a real possibility according to a new opinion poll in the Sunday Independent newspaper.

The poll was taken in eight key constituencies across Ireland and took into account individual candidates in those constituencies.

Innisfail, site of massive Australia cyclone, has deep Irish roots

Innisfail is the Queensland, Australia town that has taken the brunt of the biggest ever hurricane to hit Australia.

The tropical town near Cairns has a fascinating Irish history. The name Inisfail comes from the Tuatha De Dannan , the magical tribe who once ruled Ireland. According to legend they called Ireland Inisfail.
