The legislative car crash that is the Arizona immigration bill has sparked a renewed effort at the federal level to work on immigration reform.
President Barack Obama was expected to address the issue at a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the White House Wednesday.
But White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs cautioned that "immigration is a very hard issue that Congress might not finish this year."
However, Gibbs says Obama wants voters to know that immigration reform is too important to stall on.
He said the president would push for progress on immigration reform, "even in a busy legislative time."
Immigration activists have been urged to reach out to Republicans on the issue.
Gibbs said bi-partisan support was essential. "This is not going to pass with only one party's votes."

The laws aren't 'broken,' ritmomente...they're flat-out NOT ENFORCED. They don't need to be 'fixed;' they need to be ENFORCED. Throw the illegals out.

and furthermore rit, the liberal game of calling any one a racist who stands up for the enforcing of our countries laws and sovereignty, is getting quite trite and hackneyed with you. Like I have said before calling someone a racist only demeans your argument, because, well you have no logical argumet.

Rit: Sorry for your perplexity and confusion on the issue of "burrowing" to illustrate how illegals have to be furtive and stay under the radar to embed themselves into our society. Seems like a perfectly reasonable & honest illustration to most. There is and was no devaluing of humanity intended. Not everyone sees all issues through the eyes of racism, you might want to look at your 3 fingers pointing back at you.

no Monsoonman. I am calling anyone who refers to these people as vermin or moles a racist. Read your own postings. Deflection doesn't work. I've stated repeatedly that the US's immigration laws are broken and need to be enforceable.

The solution is starting in Phoenix, immigration law is being followed, illegals are being fired and US citizens are getting those jobs. Natural attrition is taking place, very simple solution.

ritmonte you are one of the loud minority, possibly one of the parasites who inflames the illegal situation, an immigration attorney perhaps? Do you have a vested interest in the illegal immigration industry?show us in the constitution where non US citizens can demand anything from this country. Get back to me.
