ESPN does right thing by grounding Kornheiser over Hannah Storm sausage remarks

ESPN has done the right thing by putting Tony Kornheiser off the air for two weeks after his ugly remarks about colleague Hannah Storm.

However, they might think about sending him off on some passive-aggression training course before letting him back on again.

There's something clearly wrong when someone can say, on air, that a presenter "looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body."

Is that supposed to be funny? Sorry Tony but I'm not getting the joke.

Yes, Storm's outfit was peculiar but it didn't give anyone license to personally abuse her for what he called "a horrifying, horrifying outfit."

"I know she's very good, and I'm not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I won't. But Hannah Storm, come on now! Stop! What are you doing?" he said.

"She's got on red go-go boots and a Catholic-school plaid skirt. Way too short for somebody in her 40s - or maybe early 50s by now. She's got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body."

Kornheiser says he has since called her to apologize and says she was pleasant and allegedly joked that she'd have to retire the red boots.

A lesser person would have said; "Tony, you've got a great face for radio."

never listened or saw the show. but from the pic, kornhouser is right. she looks like she is trying to be 14 again. maybe she wants to double date with her granddaughter.
Even her teenage daughter( if she has one) would not be caught dead dressed in that.
The New York Historical Society can hold forums and and exhibition (Lincoln and New York) where people sits around and defame Irish Catholics, and no one complains. Yet it's a big deal when someone makes a strong comment about Hannah Storm's bad clothes judgement.
She looked horrendous - and he said so. Everybody is always so offended, with no sense of humor. Someone should have told her she looked idiotic before she went on camera. I can't stand Kornheiser, but come on people - lighten up.
Hmm...make comments about a colleague's attire and you get suspended; make comments that Johnny Weir belongs in the women's section of ice skating and you get a big shrug. Nice and consistent.
What aggravates me more than the comment, is the apology, or the latest in a series of "apologies for form". An "apology" is no a license to insult, demean, be crude, insensitive, almost always, just plain stupid. With an "apology" you can say something moronic, test the waters, and if people complain..."Oh, I'm sorry...I swore, lied, cheated on my spouse, demeand, exposed a boob... Fill in the blank. Say what you mean and mean what you say, or keep your stupid mouth shut.
