Cory Booker is on something. Twitter. A lot. The Newark, New Jersey mayor uses the social media platform relentlessly to voice opinions, dispense inspiration, update citizens and engage with them one-on-one over all the issues effecting them, right down to the potholes on their street.
As you might imagine, Booker's Twitter feed surged with Sandy as he fields concerns and complaints from residents about every issue the storm brought them, and he tweets right back with solutions, advice, or needed info. As the Huffington Post noted, "Booker has kept up constant communication, and at one point even invited Hurricane Sandy victims into his home to 'charge devices' and 'relax.'"
Then a Irishman sent a tweet that earned a response that the website Buzzfeed called, "The Best Cory Booker Tweet Probably Ever--Newark's Twitter-savvy, “superhero” mayor has outdone himself."
Dublin resident Lee Daly who goes by the Twitter handle @leedalyire thought maybe he could get some of that hands-on approach to public service, triggering this exchange:
The Mayor knew @leedalyire might be a Twitter follower, but he was definitely not a constituent!
Booker was referencing the Jay-Z hit "99 Problems," the same song the star had just sung at an Obama rally where he tweaked his own lyrics, singing, "I got 99 problems but a Mitt ain't one."
