Sean Hannity doesn't back down from liberals
By: Ed Farnan | Published Monday, June 20, 2011, 2:50 AM | Updated Friday, September 9, 2011, 10:16 PM

Hugely popular Irish American journalist, Sean Hannity, keeps hammering away at what he sees the left is doing to America. From out of control spending, to directionless foreign policy, to dubious vetting of the President, the pugnacious Mr. Hannity doesn't back down.
He proclaimed that American journalism died during the 08 election, which saw Barack Obama win the Presidency. Hannity has claimed that Obama received a free ride from the rest of the media when it came to many of his past relationships with dubious individuals. He has brought to light a questionable business deal with Obamas long time associate, slum landlord and convicted felon, Syrian financier Tony Rezko.
On the Hannity show last night, Donald Trump claimed he has done hundreds of business deals in which he has and will will receive massive scrutiny from the media, especially if he runs for President. But he says the one real estate deal Obama did with Rezko, had many strange and puzzling aspects about it and should have been investigated by the media, but never was.
Never one to back down from his beliefs, Sean Hannity again brought up Obamas close association with Reverend Wright in which he was a member of Wrights Black Liberation Church for 20 years. Some of Wrights incendiary remarks included " Godd**n Amerikkka" soon after 911 occurred.
Sean Hannity was also instrumental in bringing up the fact that Obama had a close relationship with Bill Ayers, the convicted terrorist who set bombs off all over America. Those bombs caused damage to institutions, terror to the American public and some claim, his bombs caused death. Trump said during the interview, he is almost certain Bill Ayers was the ghost writer for Obamas first popular book, "Dreams From My Father".
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/10/who_wrote_dreams_from_my_fathe_1.html
Mr. Hannity revealed that his network and bosses received strong pressure on them to rein him in during the Presidential elections. His network rejected the pressure and Sean continues on with his role as spearhead of the new 4th Estate, doing what the media is supposed to do, expose corruption and question the leaders.

He certainly didn't back down when he promised to be waterboarded for charity and then changed his mind. No amount of pressure would budge him to keep his original promise.

Hannity has the intelligence of a sand flea...Do you recall when this moron interviewed captain Scott O'Grady after O'Grady was shot down in Bosnia? Hannity to O'Grady: "What carrier were you flying off of?" O'Grady was in the USAF--not a navel aviator, nor a Doolittle Tokio Raider. O'Grady was flying out of Italy from an airbase...

Jeese, in the 1st paragraph, change the words "the left" to "the right" and you've just described the Bush presidency.
EdinCali | Apr 23, 2011, 01:17 PM EDT
Remember this ancient wisdom (ancient since 1887, when Captain Thomas Baldwin invented one)..."A mind, like a parachute, never works until it's opened".
seanomelbourne | Apr 21, 2011, 07:39 PM EDT
I agree caramia an open mind makes for healthy debate.
caramia | Apr 20, 2011, 09:38 PM EDT
And yes, everyone is entitled to their point of view. That's what makes this country great. But just because we disagree, it doesn't mean you're right and i'm wrong, or vice versa. Sometimes a civil, thoughtful discussion can enlighten one party or another. The polarization I speak of is that differing opinions these days have no interest in listening to any opinion other than their own. I'm not stupid enough to think I know everything. I learn something new every day of my life.
caramia | Apr 20, 2011, 09:35 PM EDT
I do admit, seanomelbourne, that the tea party is part of it, as well as the dems and the GOP. There used to be a time when there conservative dems, and liberal repubs. Compromise could be reached on any issue most of the time. For the last decade, it has become "the far right" or "the far left", with very little middle ground on which to start a discussion. I am a registered independent. I am "socially" liberal, "fiscally" conservative. Am just as pissed at the GOP's freewheeling spending practices as at the Dems. I have NEVER voted a "straight" ticket, Dem or Repub. I vote each issue, each race independently. The total deadlock in DC is what breaks my heart when there are such serious issues to be dealt with, instead of political mudslinging. I want to be queen... Just for a day!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
seanomelbourne | Apr 20, 2011, 07:57 PM EDT
Caramia everyone is entitled to their point of view.If the polarisation breaks your heart at least be honest enough to say that the tea party is part of that polarisation.Maybe "polarisation" is not an apt word to use. After all if your anti Liberal stance is not polarizing what do you mean??

caramia...when you hit the comment button your post will appear for a short time then go away for the powers to review. Then anywhere from 20 min. to 2 or 3 hrs. it will show back up for good unless one of the crybabies get you with the report abuse in the upper right corner of the post. Most of the time there are no problems. Your insight into American politics is right on in my book. The problem is both sides with a lesser of the evils factor as well as the freshmen who usually get rapidly co-opted. The sides are so far apart there isn't much room for getting along in DC or on IC. Then you have people on IC from everywhere giving a world view (liberal).
caramia | Apr 19, 2011, 09:31 PM EDT
Thank you, maloney. I honestly enjoy thoughtful discussion. If we never listened to opposing viewpoints, how would we learn and grow? It's the name-calling and verbal flame-throwing that seem useless to me. Maybe some of these liberals can explain to me why they are always so ANGRY? Do you hate what you fear? Or what you simply don't understand? Personally, I believe every incumbent in Congress, Dem or Rep, should be voted out.All are too comfortable in DC. It's time to start over.
maloney | Apr 19, 2011, 08:40 PM EDT
Thanx for the complement seano. caramia..post often and do not fear. The jousting on IC can be down right funny. There are many to protect you if the bullies push to hard. Don't believe the extreme right wing devil stuff but you may run across a few violence prone libertarians. LOL You are what America is all about. Be proud of what you are and stand for!!
caramia | Apr 19, 2011, 08:35 PM EDT
So, someone keeps deleting my posts. they appear, then disappear. My mistake to think an intelligent, adult discussion was possible..... Too bad.
caramia | Apr 19, 2011, 08:33 PM EDT
The political polarization in our country at the moment breaks my heart. This is not how it has always been. The Tea Party, if nothing else, has caused Americans to THINK. The conservatives in this country, whether Democrat (yes, there are CONSERVATIVE Democrats out there who I admire) or Republican, must stop the govt's out-of-control spending NOW. We have no EU to bail us out. I am forever optimistic as long as we have an array of voices and opinions out there, where, if they talk long enough, the truth WILL come out. Being of Irish ancestry (great grandparents immigrated from Ireland in early 1800's), I'm happy to see that the whole country isn't flaming liberal. I was thinking it might just be a European "thing"....
caramia | Apr 19, 2011, 08:27 PM EDT
I am not a radical right wing conservative. I'm just a hard working American, who believes that I should be able to keep some of the money I earn, raise my children the way I see fit, live in the house I choose, drive the car I choose, eat and drink what I choose, without the government dictating those things to me. Our country was founded on the principle of freedom, and those freedoms are being, little by little, taken away from us. Many Americans agree with me, ie: our 2010 mid-term elections. I welcome opposing viewpoints other than what is in the White House at the moment. Freedom of Speech, ever hear of it? I admire anyone who has the courage to speak out, be it Sean Hannity or anyone else.
seanomelbourne | Apr 19, 2011, 08:10 PM EDT
Be careful Caramia you may be dancing with the extreme right wing devils.
maloney | Apr 19, 2011, 07:50 PM EDT
Hopefully Hannity will address the Tea Party gatherings this past weekend where the violent left showed their true colors with their hate filled posters and language. Along with the threats and bullying the left displayed this past weekend, the left wing media failed to tell about any of this poor behavior as usual. Then we had the Potus show his true colors with his comment on stopping the conservatives from doing anything about his plans for "social compact" he has planned for America.
maloney | Apr 19, 2011, 07:41 PM EDT
Caramia..I second monsoon's comment, beautiful name. Hang in there. On this Hannity blog there are more obama suck ups than usual but that is par for the course for any and all blogs with Palin, O'Reilly, Fow News or Ovomit as the subject. Let them know what you think. There are many that think as you do. Some posting problems come from the liberal IC watchdogs and some come from the other posters who use the "report abuse" to silence opinions they don't agree with. Yes this is very cowardly but what can you expect from liberal progressives, socialists and the like.
Clareman | Apr 19, 2011, 05:00 PM EDT
McNamara31 nailed it. Hannity is following other Irish-American rabble rousers like Father Charles Coughlin in the 1930s and Senator Joe McCarthy in the 1950s. He and that other smug phoney, Bill O' Reilly, appeal to the worst instincts of people and he is indeed a disgrace to all the Irish who fought for social justice in this country. The right-wing religious nut type Republicans that he provides a forum for on his program, of course, behind his back, laugh at this Irish-American fool. He is the farthest thing from a journalist as you can find, and Farnan's comment about Hannity being a member of the fourth estate exposing corruption and questioning leaders is laughable; Hannity is a Republican sycophant who is misleading the ignorant and he is laughing all the way to the bank.
allentown | Apr 19, 2011, 02:32 PM EDT
Ciarrai, unfortunately for you and Rachell Maddow, there are obviously more of us dumb ones than there are of you smart ones.
Monsoonman | Apr 18, 2011, 09:45 PM EDT
Caramia...Love that name. Don't be discouraged with the posting, you have to get used to it. Keep your posts shorter and don't cut and paste anything and usually they go through. You should drop ic a note and let them know you are having a problem too, they might be able to adjust their setting. I had the same problem several months back but now most of my posts go through...Oh and BTW, there are a LOT of conservative Irish around who don't drink the liberal Kool Aid. they are our misguided brethren who need to see the light.
caramia | Apr 18, 2011, 09:26 PM EDT
At the top of this comment "frame",is the question, "What do you think about this?" Actually, not much. I wrote a thoughtful post, showing some support for Mr. Hannity, and saying (gasp!!) that Barack Obama is NOT necessarily America's "Saviour". And you wouldn't post my comment. I've only subscribed to your publication for a month or so, but now, to answer the "what do you think?" question, judging from the published comments below, I think now, I understand.
seanomelbourne | Apr 18, 2011, 07:24 PM EDT
Hannity will go down the same road as what's his name? Beck.
DannyBoyG | Apr 18, 2011, 06:04 PM EDT
Sean - with you have to say please...please explain the 8 years under George W. Bush that destroyed the USA as we know for some time to come. Why does that always get a free pass??? Until you can explain that...Please shut your pile hole.
McNamara31 | Apr 18, 2011, 05:49 PM EDT
Hannity is a disgrace to all things Irish. He can coldly smirk into the camera, night after night, with his talking points and lie to the American public, all the while making the big bucks to do so. His Irish ancestors would quickly disown him and "kick him to the curb" with the other garbage.
hollabackgurl | Apr 18, 2011, 01:38 PM EDT
Wrestling shows have ratings. The news shouldn't.
Ratslayer | Apr 18, 2011, 01:19 PM EDT
Hannity is NOT a real journalist (and clearly yer not as well!). Real journalists don't pick sides. Hannity is simply a tool of the treasonous GOP and its rank-and-file of self-loathing closet cases, a propagandist who is poisoning the political discourse in America.
mayoman | Apr 18, 2011, 09:54 AM EDT
Hannity represents the "new 4th Estate"? Correction: Hannity's a loud right-wing mouth-piece pretending to be a journalist. He maybe you fellow brownshirt traveler, Farnan, but Hannity has yet to have ever reported anything objectively. Everything is colored by fat his Rupert Murdock paycheck. and thus everything is fear-mongering, fascist spin with this guy.
ciarrai | Apr 18, 2011, 09:51 AM EDT
That Hannity has higher ratings than Rachel Maddow speaks volumes about the people who watch Fox. Rachel Maddow is the smartest person on tv. However, Lawrence O'Donnell kicks everyone's arse.
jaiellojr | Apr 18, 2011, 01:38 AM EDT
Sean Hannity is just as big a blowhard as Donald Trump is. And speaking of Trump, American voters should demand a birth certificate for that thing on Trump's head.
terrypat | Apr 17, 2011, 11:20 PM EDT
I'm serious Ireland!, take sean hannity, PLEASE!??!
Monsoonman | Apr 17, 2011, 11:17 PM EDT
Good point JimMcgarity. Another side of obama that has never been shown to the public is the rigging and fraud that went against hillary in the dem primaries that got obama the nomination. But of course no one in the main stream media wants to talk about it.
jamthecat | Apr 17, 2011, 10:43 PM EDT
Why am I not surprised at the inanity of the right-wing-commentariat?
seanomelbourne | Apr 17, 2011, 09:59 PM EDT
Mman I never said he was stupid. Jamcat you have the temerity to call others superficial, were your feelings hurt because I stated that anyone who swallows his swill is dumb meow for now.
JimMcGarity | Apr 17, 2011, 08:43 PM EDT
I also think the press gave away the election. Mrs Clinton should have been their pick.
2BorNot2B | Apr 17, 2011, 08:38 PM EDT
Sez jamthecat (I'm still wondering where he has that cat jammed that causes his caterwauling) **Of course, stupidity never did stop anyone from having an opinion or expressing same, did it?** Apparently not.. and your post confirms it.
LilPaddy | Apr 17, 2011, 08:02 PM EDT
From what I have read below, it's obvious the majority of the commenters would be in favor of Oboma getting into (and sharing) the wealth of this country among those who can't (or won't) earn their own...... If the shoe fits!! As for me, since my first day in the U.S. (1960) I have not had one day of paid vacation, received not one penny from unemployment, workmans comp, welfare or any other 'dignity denying' handout program.... Mr. Oboma is nothing more than a three dollar bill, that Liberals "WILL NOT" see.... Keep telling it like it is Mr. Hannity!!
Monsoonman | Apr 17, 2011, 07:49 PM EDT
I think reading these responses is hilarious! So Sean Hannity is stupid? Reminds me of Joy Behar on the View the other day extolling how smart obama was because he went to Harvard ( You have to be smart to go there!) and on eof the other ladies piped in and said I guess that makes Bush smart too because he went there also...Behar was speechless. difference between obama and Bush? We get to see all of his grades and papers when he went to harvard...Can't see Obamas, they're sealed from public view.
jamthecat | Apr 17, 2011, 07:21 PM EDT
Of course he doesn't. This little chihuahua knows who pays for his kibble, and he has no intention of cutting off his food chain. So he'll yap to their heart's content. But I think a recast of Zbigniew Brzezinksi's response to Joe Scarborough a couple years ago is even more applicable here. "You know, [Sean has] such a stunningly superficial knowledge of what [really goes] on that it's...embarrassing to listen to [him]." Of course, stupidity never did stop anyone from having an opinion or expressing same, did it?
seanomelbourne | Apr 17, 2011, 07:20 PM EDT
Hannity just another Fox/GOP channel acolyte spewing lies and hate. How dumb some people are if they cannot see through this blundering fool.
terrypat | Apr 17, 2011, 04:56 PM EDT
In the interest of " Fair Play ", that dead fish eater best uncouple from the hannity trailer. As all in the Interstate Commerce Biz knows, any trailer stuck in the 80's is non-compliant and must be removed from Fleet usage. I suggest all of you who are, like hannity, stuck in the 80's, should exhale once in a while. And then breath in . . . , .
allentown | Apr 17, 2011, 03:10 PM EDT
America likes conservative commentators who don't back down from Liberals. They express it in their viewership. Hannity continually wipes out Maddow with 40% greater viewing audience in the 9 P.M. time slot. Could this be a forecast of what we are to expect in the upcoming 2012 elections.
GeorgeDillon | Apr 17, 2011, 02:42 PM EDT
Hannity lacks the intelligence and sophistication of Limbaugh. He's an utter bore. How come he doesn't join the US Army if he's such a chickenhawk and wants to kill people in other countries?
peterson | Apr 17, 2011, 02:14 PM EDT
Sean Hannity is the most popular radio talk show host in the U.S. and does not make claims unless he has documentation to back them up. He sure does have "Irish Spunk".
seagreen | Apr 17, 2011, 02:14 PM EDT
Hannity has an Irish sir name....His journey from long island to a country and western disc jockey job in Alabama was the beginning of his servitude to the right. A real chicken hawk , and bimpersticker patriot. I'm sure he is more patriotic than I ever was....
peterson | Apr 17, 2011, 02:10 PM EDT
It appears that the fellow that has the bridge "for sale" wasn't to bright or he would not have it in the first place. Like most liverals, he can't handle the truth !!
Nanaof5 | Apr 17, 2011, 01:09 PM EDT
Hannity is simply awful and totally in love with his own opinions and rhetoric.Stopped listening to him long before Obama mainlybecause of him wrapping himself intheflag as if anyone who criticized was unpatriotic.Has done nothing to bringus all together ,simply another devisive force.
ciarrai | Apr 17, 2011, 12:54 PM EDT
Hannity is a disgrace to his Irish heritage. American journalism was on life support due to the silence and acceptance of the lies of the BushCheney regime which led us into the unnecessary, fraudulent Iraq war. Hannity was a staunch supporter of the Iraq war. When Donald Trump declares his intention to run for POTUS then he ought to be paid attention to. He will not run, but his shaky deals will still stand. Rev. Wright (former member of the United States Marine Corps) was telling it like it is. Much truth came out of his mouth. Hannity supports ministers who have said offensive things, but it's okay for Hannity. Not acceptable for Obama. As for Bill Ayers, he hosted a fund raiser for Obama and that, of course, makes them best friends and co-conspirators. And Trump knows that Ayers is the ghost writer for "Dreams From My Father", because he's "a smart guy." What a bunch of baloney. Don't you see it? It's the same old chestnut. But here is the topper..."Sean continues on with his role as spearhead of the new 4th Estate, doing what the media is (sic) supposed to do, expose corruption and question the leaders." Hey Righty, this crap doesn't belong on a site where the struggle for Irish freedom is at the back of everyone's mind. It sounds like boilerplate directly from Fox. If anyone believes a word of the hokum about Hannity then I want to let you in on a little secret: I've got this bridge in Brooklyn and it can be yours cheap. Righty, don't try to pass this drivel off to an intelligent people. Any questions?
Monsoonman | Apr 17, 2011, 12:36 PM EDT
In the interest of being fair terrypat, can you give a few specifics to your claim that sean hannity slings mud, inferring that what he digs up and exposes is false?....Remember be specific, don't just be a shotgun loaded with #8 shot, hoping to taint this great American. I am waiting with baited breath (just had sushi lunch)
terrypat | Apr 17, 2011, 12:28 PM EDT
Hannity has always used the shotgun approach when trying to stir up the right-wing. You know, firing a big mess of bb's and hoping one hits. Slinging mud and hoping some sticks? Hoping, that's the key. All he hopes to accomplish is tarnishing ideas that are beyond his understanding. Why?, because of the American conservative motivation, fear of anything new. He's a bigoted idiot! You want him? He's yours.
PhlutiePhan | Apr 17, 2011, 12:22 PM EDT
Hannity "yells fire in a crowded theatre". Howev er, the theatre really is on fire.
DuffsMot | Apr 17, 2011, 10:38 AM EDT
Mr Farnan, you are not without your supportive readers here. Bringing to light serious issues (for those who conveniently forget) are yourself and Sean Hannity. I am thankful for (both) your efforts.

Shame GeorgeDillon, All you lilly-livered Liberals manage to talk the talk or shall I say: bleat the bleat, while Mr. Hannity walks the walk!............Keep up your pitiful whinning about how bad mr Hannity is. No one is listening.
GeorgeDillon | Apr 17, 2011, 03:01 AM EDT
What's Irish about hannity? He's just a warmonger. And a chickenhawk. He was "otherwise occupied" when it came to volunteering for any of the Services.
seanomelbourne | Apr 17, 2011, 01:33 AM EDT
You miss the point Mman,it's the context in which it was said by Wright. The carpet bombing of Vietnam, the indiscriminate bombing of urban areas in Iraq and elsewhere He was making the point that the the U.S. was culpable for it's murderous tactics and expecting a free pass for doing so.
Monsoonman | Apr 16, 2011, 08:59 PM EDT
So Lad, just because the "reverend" wright took only 10 minutes to dam amerikkka, after 911 occurred and american bodies were still burning, it is OK due to its brevity? Trying to follow the logic here.
seanomelbourne | Apr 16, 2011, 08:54 PM EDT
Farnan have the guts to show a 10 minute snippet of Rev. Wrights remarks and show the people how Hannity and the rest of the Fox acolytes misrepresented Wright with their "selective"sound bites. Your are all clutching onto old hackneyed dis-proven straws. You lot love crawling around the bottom of the barrel.
