The American people spoke loud and clear last November when they overturned the status quo of both parties and voted in 87 new citizen legislators. These freshmen/women vowed to bring some sanity to the swampland known as Washington DC. These new legislators see what the budget really is: A vote buying machine designed to keep the established political interests in power.
What is so evil about the country living within its means and having a balanced budget?
Some are saying the divide in America is greater than it has ever been, "a divide between those who work for a living...and those who vote for a living".
Washington is a checkerboard of special interests who pull the pork their way without regard for the general good of America. The Tea Party group of freshmen is a special interest group devoted to the common good of America...Isn't it about time America had it's own special interest group in the capital?
The usual bribery, cajoling, behind the scenes deals and outright bullying seem to have little effect on these freshmen. Seems the usual plum committee assignment, or pork barrel project for their district is not going to alter their campaign promise to their constituents. They are demanding change out of Washington and holding firm.... and Washington has been listening.
In Washington DC where up is down and down is up, where cut really means increase and balanced budget depends on what the meaning of is, is......Special interests squeal like indignant hogs when their government trough gets threatened and lawmakers scatter.
Simple math tells us we have a major problem, we are spending more than a thousand billion more than we take in, just to keep the doors open and the government/nanny state in operation.
Established long term Washington politicians, have aired their attitude toward the new legislators. SE Cupp said, "My head is going to explode", while watching John Kerry on MSNBC: "He's telling the 87 freshman to stay out of it", "We know what we're doing."......Really?
Isn't it the long time, deal making, entrenched politicians of DC that got us into this mess in the first place?
Senators from both parties called this week for the president to become more involved.
“We need leadership,’’ said Senator Scott Brown, Massachusetts Republican. “The president needs to be engaged in these things; he needs to sit down at the table and come up with a compromise that shows true, real leadership in tackling these budget proposals.’’
Well Senator Brown, you might not have gotten the message, but it seems the reason why the budget is in such an impasse is because President Obama got in the middle of negotiations.
Congressman Sonny Bono said "he longed for the sincerity and sanity of Hollywood after serving in Washington DC for a year". I am sure our new citizen legislators, fresh to the scene know exactly what Mr. Bono was talking about. For other points of view visit Carroll Standard:

All the conservative groups in the country don't scrape the surface of the corruption of the Soros led liberal/progressive enemies of America. The problem the liberals have with their bashing of the Tea Party is the members are from not only the conservatives but also Independents, Libertarians and Democrats. The current debate shows the Tea Party to be the only group worried about America with their main concern being a balanced budget.

Nicomax So true. And also how about the corporate money that has created and flowed into the Tea Party thru FreedomWorks, headed by lobbyist and former House Majority Leader Dick Armey and Americans for Prosperity, or AFP, long been rumored to be financed by David Koch, of the family that owns Koch Industries.

You are absolutely right Ed; the Tea Party can’t be bought. I made what I thought was a reasonable offer to their owners, the Koch brothers, and they turned me down flat.

Ed appears to be writing for the Fox/Gop media, part of the now discredited Newscorp. The teahadist mantra is let the middle class pay and the filthy rich become richer.

@Tomdoh345 is partly right, except when wandering off into name calling. The parts that are right are: "This guy is an idiot. Tea Party is highly financed by the rich and powerful extreme right wing in Washington. The Tea Party is full of full of Corporate "YES" Men and Women ... The Tea Party motto seems to be "My ignorance is better than your Knowledge". The Tea Party top candidate was challenged by a ten year old girl to a test of common grade school knowledge and the Candidate chickened out...."

Not one peep from the same people who are now considered tea baggers, when the federal government borrowed money to launched two wars, and set-up a sweetheart Medicare Part D drug purchasing program, also on borrowed funds, and applauded cutting taxes in the middle of all that. Were they back in the kitchen brewing some Irish tea, or were they just color-blinded to those who proposed such folly.?

The Tea Party's campaigns against RINO's (Republicans In Name Only) in the primaries, and Democrats in the general election. 2010 was our first Congressional election, which was a good showing. We reclaimed the House, and came close in the Senate. 2012, we expect to hold the House, and reclaim the Presidency and Senate.

Wow,Tom drank the kool-aid. The article isn't about rhetoric, it is about what makes sense. Stopping the poor money management is a good idea no matter who came up with it. How about doing what's best for the country instead of hopping on the "they are evil" bandwagon?
Maybe the "Tea Party" should be thought of as a people's movement not a partisan movement.

This guy is an idiot. Tea Party is highly financed by the rich and powerful extreme right wing in Washington. The Tea Party is full of full of Corporate "YES" Men and Women ( the type that got power by rating on their co-workers and then bragging about how they didn't go to college or have good grades in school but are now "managers". Hitler's SS was full of the very same type of people. I am ashamed of how many Irish Americans are in this Neo-Nazi like movement that is currently crippling the US Government. The Tea Party motto seems to be "My ignorance is better than your Knowledge". The Tea Party top candidate was challenged by a ten year old girl to a test of common grade school knowledge and the Candidate chickened out because any one with any sense knows the ten year old would have beaten her.
