But Romney had to debate the President and a mediator, who thought she had to pitch in to help out the President if he appeared in trouble.Candy Crowley interrupted Romney 28 times, while she only admonished Obama nine times for exceeding his time.
There are analysts that say President Obama scored some debate points. there are others who critiqued Romney for not taking advantage of clear openings to land a knockout blow on Obama. But when the “fog of the debate” clears, polls will show that Mitt Romney has picked up more support from the American electorate.
After the debate flash polls showed that Obama had an edge in the debate. But the question asked was who was the most improved from the Denver debate, of course that was Obama….and who performed close to expectations: Romney.
The left leaning CNN poll shortly after the debate, showed Romney had a 58-40 edge on the issue of economics/ best plan for righting our economic ship.
Additionally Romney had the edge in the following 3 key areas:
Taxes51-44
Solving budget deficit59-36
Healthcare49-46
President Obama still had a slight edge on Mitt Romney when it comes to foreign policy. But ominously for President Obama, the Benghazi attack is becoming a big issue.Additionally it seems, Al Quaeda and terrorism didn’t disappear from the scene when Osama Bin Laden was killed.
Another key item that will vex President Obama, is the sky high cost of gasoline plaguing Americans. Last night Mitt Romney was able to lay that blame squarely on the shoulders of Obamas last four years of energy policy.
Political scientist Frank Luntz monitored a panel of 21 voters, many of whom previously voted for Obama in 2008. After the debate, a majority of them said they will be voting for Romney.
A newly released Gallup Poll showed that Mitt Romney has jumped to a national lead against President Obama 51-45. Thursday it increased 52-45
Romney’s popularity in the national polls is making a difference in swing states formerly assumed to be President Obama’s.They are now very close or leaning Romney.
Pundits might say they give the edge to Obama in points in this last debate, but the points that really matter to Americans all belong to Mitt Romney.
sean, I have a 20 year old son with Aspergers Syndrome, and he, too, may be Mensa "qualified". What does that mean exactly? That Mensa has accepted you, that your IQ is high enough to gain entry into Mensa; what exactly? Does anyone know? As far as Monsoon is concerned, he has spent many years trying to justify the corruption and insanity of the GOP, it is small wonder he finds a hero in someone who claims to be an "avid" viewer of Fox and still claims not to have pudding for brains. But claims to not reality make as we have seen from the GOP for the last 32 years. Oh, and Monsoon, you haven't went back, you have gone back. But we know you are a Fox viewer, so we expect no less from you.

Or Redstate where all you have to do is say something and people tell you how smart you are. Sorry Bosco. BY the way...the best part about this is after you try to explain away how although you said this you meant something else, I'm going to force feed you the "Obama never said it was a terrorist attack" BS you've been trying to sell. The days of being nice to stupid people are over, Monsoon. There is no bipartisanship in American politics and you know it. Monsoonman | Oct 20, 2012, 09:18 PM EDT
Ephraim..I'm w/you on pollution...The global warming stuff I think is bogus and is just a ploy to kill fossil fuels. Wherever energy is cheap and plentiful civilizations prosper and flourish, lifespans hugely increase...You can thank fossil energy for all of that. There are scrubbers on smokestacks and oter pollution controls that are in effect and working....3rd world and china need to filter theirs as well, perhaps with financial sanctions until they do. Add 200.00 to the cost of ea ipad made in china for starters

Ed, are you Monsoon? I only ask because whenever I point out his blatant lies, my posts don't make the board. But I guess you are both heavily invested in Romney, aren't you? Don't worry, he will be inaugurated although he won't be elected. Just like 2000, eh? The "liberal media" pretends it's a close election so the masses don't riot when they give it to Romney. Oh, and Monsoon, you said faucets weren't catching fire. You did not say they had been for years. You poor Romneyphile..."I'll tell so many lies, they will never be able to keep track of them."
BigDaddy | Oct 20, 2012, 08:47 PM EDT
Monsoon, the truth is you denied that water faucets were flammable. You are not entitled to your own facts, dummy. Oh, now I get it. Since your BS and lies are on another page now, you figured no one would check them out. Oh, you tricky ideologues. You surprise me, Monsoon. I would have thought after all these years you would have grown tired of being a grateful slave. I guess I was wrong. Look at that; I admitted I made a mistake.
EphraimKibbey | Oct 20, 2012, 08:43 PM EDT
Monsoonman - While I agree with Al Gore on the Global Warming issue, their are MANY other environmental problems with oil and coal besides pipeline leaks, including acid rain, mine drainage, black lung, increases in asthma, etc.. Not so long ago we fought to get the lead out of our lungs by requiring automobiles to have catalytic converters but both the auto industry and oil companies had to be dragged to that remedy kicking and screaming. Without government regulations on industries that pollute, the 99% would live in a cess pool and the Romneys of the world would look down on us from their palaces in the clouds and have a good old laugh at our stupidity. Power to the People!
EphraimKibbey | Oct 20, 2012, 08:30 PM EDT
Monsoonman - I know of ONE company, the Finnish Electric Automobile company that was given startup funds to build a plant in the US and then backed out of the deal.
Monsoonman | Oct 20, 2012, 08:28 PM EDT
Clearly Ephraim, you are an algore acolyte...If global warming and the resultant massive sea level rise are so imminent. Why did al buy that 30 million coastside mansion in Montecito? I say take away any subsideis to all energy sectors, including the green ones. Govt shd be funding research however, but not billions into manufacturing the tech that does not work and is non competitive. Can I say it any clearer?
Monsoonman | Oct 20, 2012, 08:23 PM EDT
Thanks Lad..Yr a lefty but have some belief in science behind you. Ephraim...Yes pipelines do break every once in a while, so? Shd we revet back to horse and buggy days because of it. They already agreed to bypass the Oglala aquifer, that was not the reason for the new "impact study" The reason was to delay it until after this election to get Obama the enviro millions to get him re-elected...BTW do you know a lot of that $ backing green is overseas?..You are putting out misinformation and being used as a tool
EphraimKibbey | Oct 20, 2012, 08:22 PM EDT
Monsoonman - The bankrupt green energy companies were a good enough investment that W. started many of them like Solyndra. The fact that the Chinese companies that Romney supports under cut prices and destroyed them shows just how much they feared an American Green Energy giant as competition. Obama has learned from their attack and now has hit them with numerous law suits and tariffs to level the playing field. Unlike Big Oil and Coal which are well established, nacent industries need special protections and incentives. The cost to the country of oil and coal as fuels are really much higher than it seems when you factor in all the damage they do to human health and the ecosystem. Gasification seems to be one path to their conversion to a cleaner energy source but the GOP fights any attempt to change the way they are handled.
EphraimKibbey | Oct 20, 2012, 08:07 PM EDT
Monsoonman - Ask the folks along the Kalamazoo River in Michigan what they think of piping oil shale. When the pipeline run by the same Canadian Firm dumped into their river, the material sank and remains on the bottom of the river, a gift that keeps on polluting. The Republicans in congress forced Obama to cancel the keystone pipeline when he simply asked that they wait until the impact study was redone for the Ogalala aquifer by someone with a bit more experience than the college kid that had been assigned to it by a previous administration. Obama was acting on a request from the Republican governor of the state through which the pipeline would run over the aquifer to do a better study. If the aquifer is polluted it will be impossible to clean and will destroy the economy of the state. The Republicans just wanted one more club to hit Obama over the head with during the election.

Monsoonman | Oct 20, 2012, 06:53 PM EDT
Plus you came on here breathlessly telling us water faucets have flame coming out if them, as if it is something new. Monsoonman | Oct 20, 2012, 06:47 PM EDT
Big Daddy: Why can't you converse w/me like Seanmelbourne, he is a far lefty, but has a sense of humor and a good spirit. There is none of the acrimony you keep dredging up...As a matter of fact I debate w/many libs and we can agree to disagree on many subjects..AND they have the decency to admit when they are wrong, unlike you
BigDaddy | Oct 20, 2012, 06:31 PM EDT
Monsoon, sorry to keep bothering you with the truth but you need to ask questions of your handlers. Wells in gas areas have traditionally had methane in them but not on the level they have since the fracking. So when the people who supply you with your information "almost" tell the truth, they leave out the fact that the levels of methane are suddenly 17 times higher than normal. But that's probably Obama's fault, right?
BigDaddy | Oct 20, 2012, 06:08 PM EDT
Monsoon, I remember the same wild and disjointed attacks when Bush ran for president. The RNC must really be amping up the pressure to get "the message" out, eh? If I were you, I would not worry. There are plenty of people stupid enough to believe that Romney "wins" this election. Even though the RNC is cheating all over the nation, somehow it is getting minimal coverage here in the states. Damn that liberal media. LOL
BigDaddy | Oct 20, 2012, 06:00 PM EDT
Anyone wishing to see what a fool Monsoon is can go to YouTube to watch it or Google to read about it. Natural gas in the drinking water. It's a fact of life in "corporate America"
For the first time, a scientific study has linked natural gas drilling and hydraulic fracturing with a pattern of drinking water contamination so severe that some faucets can be lit on fire. [from the article] IC will not let me post the link
Monsoonman | Oct 20, 2012, 03:15 PM EDT
Another myth perpetrated here by the paranoid libs, is that their posts are getting "censored." It is amusing to see the bonfire of paranoia lite up when you talk about it, like there is actually someone trying to stifle "your truth", LOL! IC has been eliminating my posts since I started posting here. At first i thought it was a lib plot, then realized, if I keep it short, no links, no foul language it gets posted. Try it

jjdickson | Oct 20, 2012, 11:06 AM EDT
Without his scripts and teleprompter it is obvious that Obama is really not very bright. He is certainly no statesman, and having such a disastrous record does him no favours either. The American people g

There are people in America who can literally set fire to their water faucet because of fracking. There are some very stupid people on this site who simply repeat what their Koch Bros. email tells them. Do not vote for Romney if you wish to have a memory of what democracy was like. The RNC is doing what they have always done since 1980; siphon America's wealth into the pockets of the rich and tell everyone else that they have to cut services if they want a balanced budget. Mind you, Reagan didn't think balanced budgets were worthwhile and neither did Bush lite. But we need one now so all public services can be privatized and corporations can own America outright.
JimmyJK | Oct 19, 2012, 10:08 PM EDT
How many more years do we have with oil, nat. gas and coal? Our nation thought that getting to the moon was important. I believe creating sustainable alternative energy is just as important if not more for our current situation. We can pipeline all we can in every one's backyard, imby as opposed to nimby. This will result in harsh environmental damage every scientist on planet earth says this.
So if we open all federal lands to more exploration 3 things happen. 1. Oil companies invest, extract, sell and get wealthy 2. US Citizens get cheaper oil for a short period of time 3. Our nation will feel the effect of a damaged eco system in the loss of animal species, contaminated water supplies, air quality loss due to the loss of trees and alot more.....
lets come up with some other ideas
Monsoonman | Oct 19, 2012, 09:17 PM EDT
Ephraim if you think dumping billions in bk green energy is good for the country/cancelling keystone p[ipeline & bk the coal industry is good, you are in an alternative universe. Not even going to go into how much land Obama has closed off to exploration...We should be totally self sufficient, not importing anything from overseas
EphraimKibbey | Oct 19, 2012, 08:33 PM EDT
Monsoonman - Soooo Obama is destroying our energy industry by increasing TOTAL oil production here (irrespective of the type of land that it comes from,)decreasing imported oil from the middle east for the first time in four decades, increasing natural gas production and backing wind and solar startup industries at an unprecedented rate. I knew that the far right believed in an inverse reality economics policy, but I had not heard that they had extended that inversion theory to energy as well. I guess if Obama helped a little old lady across the street, the GOP would be on him for elder abuse. Could it be that some of this nonsense is coming to you from big oil that is sure to see its corporate welfare get trimmed if the President is reelected? Please use common sense and stop watching that phony news channel and its allies. You are harming your intelligence.

EphraimKibbey | Oct 19, 2012, 01:18 PM EDT
Monsoonman - Your revelation is a bit late. Even before our intervention in Libya, Al Queda in Libya was being talked about. After all, one of the highest ranking people in Al Queda was Al Libi (the Libyian.) Al Queda was already there and so hiding the fact would be a non-starter for any thoughtful follower of foreign affairs. Watch Monday's debate and both you and Romney may learn something about the real world outside the Fox News not-even-parallel universe. Monsoon man asked for the exact words, Obama used in the first press conference about Ben Ghazi, he got them several times and then was not truthful about that fact. He used every word except *acts of terror* in his own summary of what was said. There is no point in repition of facts to a person whose mind is closed. It is not that you cannot find what was said, you do not want to and therein lies the difference. It's a bit late in the season for flip flops in my humble.

Uh, susan724...that's a very arrogant way of addressing the problem (your posts are 'deleted' because you're just too darned smart). Come on, kiddo. I don't know what the problem is with your posts, but I can tell you flatly that I have had many of MY posts deleted, after posting a CONSERVATIVE reply to LIBERAL columnists, on here (like Cahir O'Doherty, for instance...he's NOTORIOUS for deleting stuff he doesn't personally like, or someone's doing it for him). And I might add, unlike Ed Farnan here, Cahir possesses neither the guts nor honesty to say that HIS columns are 'From the Left,' because they certainly are, and then some. He'd have to move rightward to reach Marx. So don't pretend A) you're automatically smarter than conservatives, or that B) your side of it doesn't engage in the same cheap censorship that you're accusing Ed of...without even being honest about their radical left ideology, in addition. If you are watching Fox News, just remember it is a documented fact that you are getting "STUPIDER!" (Unless you just watch for laughs.) The debate was Tuesday. It is still Thursday (as I type 11:58) and, except for the instant polls on who won the debate, the general election polls and swing state polls just released were collected before the debate. We will see NEXT week what effect it actually had on the election. Poll data has to actually be counted and organized before it can be released. I am sure that is a real bummer for the "I want it now" crowd out there but that is the way REALITY works. My wife and I were on a date Tuesday night so I missed the live broadcast but I saw the CNN replay later. I usually watch on MSNBC but CNN had a graph showing voter /- reactions in real time which I thought was pretty cool. Funny how whenever Mittens tore into Candy or the President, the graph lines dipped into the negative quadrant. Mittens you meanie!

These are his exact Rose Garden words-"he described it as a “terrible act,” a “brutal” act, “senseless violence,” and called the attackers “killers,” not terrorists. It’s also important to consider the context. For a week after this speech, the White House would not call it a terrorist attack. The official position was that Libya was a spontaneous response to an anti-Islam film, not a premeditated or preplanned act.

Monsoonman - Since you can't find this yourself here is part of the transcript of the Rose Garden Statement the day after the attack - "Yesterday, four of these extraordinary Americans were killed in an attack on our diplomatic post in Benghazi. Among those killed was our Ambassador, Chris Stevens, as well as Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith. We are still notifying the families of the others who were killed. And today, the American people stand united in holding the families of the four Americans in our thoughts and in our prayers." "No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done."

The Gallup poll is supposedly the gold poll of the USA, the largest and biggest sampling in the nation. CNN is a left tilted poll. The people on the Frank Luntz forum were real former Obama voters who for the most part switched to Romney...Pretty clear there is a major trend going on and it is unfavorable to Obama...BTW where is that Rose Garden statement from obama?
hughaed | Oct 18, 2012, 10:14 PM EDT
Some of this bizarre polling seems to be so contradictory & quoting from one poll or another at one particular time is meaningless. Perhaps when there are meta polls done which
examine a dozen or more over a period of a week you might be able to come to a reasonable conclusion. When writers such as this one makes his assertions the idealogical bias is apparent. Making the assertions fit the ideology seems to the way of the right wing media. Right now the polls I've looked at show the Obama & Romney race being pretty well even with Obama beginning to regain momentum so that would indicate that this article is full of blather & blarney.

Main Street media and so called journalists should all be fired for their blatant bias. Now they are scrambling and not very gracious about it. The panic has set in.
Monsoonman | Oct 18, 2012, 09:02 PM EDT
Obama has been shielded from tough questions for past 5 years. The race card was used early and often against anyone that dared question him...This has been a huge disservice to our country and to Obama himself, where he must answer for his record in these debates...It is why he is stumbling in the polls, people sense he is not deserving of the office

IrishAndProud | Oct 18, 2012, 08:54 PM EDT
Actually, pilibo4, Obama does NOT lead in Ohio; he's tied with Romney. Your guy Obama is continually losing his lead, both nationally and in state after state after state, and all along the way you're still blurting that same curt, dismissive kind of stuff ('Obama leads here. Game over.') Your list of swing states and national polls where O is 'leading' is getting pretty short, kiddo. And now a new poll from Susquehanna Polling and Research (which ABC, NBC and CNN have described as 'devastating' for Obama, as I understand) has Romney up four over O in Pennsylvania, too, where Romney's not even been campaigning hard (in addition to his seven-point Gallup lead, now). The further behind Obama falls, the more angry and dismissive your posts become, kiddo. What are you going to do when you run out of polls to tout? Because...it's headed that way...

It should matter to all since it was American financiers, hedge fund managers and general miscreants that almost ruined the world's economy. If it happens again with Romney, blame yourselves.

Monsoonman "McNamara fails to acknowledge the democrat hand in driving us to the brink of fiscal insanity" Hmmmm...What McNamara acknowledges is: that in 2008 the previous administrations policies had sent our economy into a whole as big as the depression of 1929, which took the country "10 full years to recover from". It is totally naive, to believe that Obama could stabilize that decent without the use of funds which he was forced to do to lesson what would have been an even greater crash. (As every economist has agreed) Its fiscal reality boys. Would you care to discuss the debt to savings ratios that "W" loosened that allowed the financial industry to leverage up from 12 to 1 up to 40 to 1? Too bad you can't blame that on Obama too.

I am not sure what debate YOU watched or what fact checker you rely upon, but the Ben Ghazi attack was called a terrorist attack the very next day in a press conference about that every incident. And Lets face it you can split hairs all you like but Obama won that debate hands down and perhaps if Romney had not taken over the time he was supposed to she would not have had to interrupt him so often. Romney passed Obamscare in Mass and its a bit late in the season for flip flops in my opinion.

Romney "won" that debate because he kept pointing to Obama's record vs what Obama promised. Obama accused Romney of lack of policy details, but the people remembered Pelosi whipping her troops to pass the healthcare bill, sight unseen, with the admonition that you'll find out what's in it after you pass it. Decision to the challenger.

Eamon Dublin Like Romney, you did not mention one fact ! defend you family against who ? The Bermudians. A military industrial complex that is breaking the country. Entire towns and cities that will disappear if the money flow stops. Fabricated enemies to keep the country on a war economy for the last 60 years. It is time for Romney to start answering specific questions, and for that Koch brothers shill Ryan to stop being an Irish lackey intent on separating non market investor Americans from their social security money. McNamara fails to acknowledge the democrat hand in driving us to the brink of fiscal insanity, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid at the helm
jflanagan | Oct 18, 2012, 04:54 PM EDT
Under President Clinton spending was below 20% of Gross Domestic Product. Under President Obama it is over 40% of Gross Domestic Product. We should pass a Constitutional Amendment limiting spending to 20% or so of GDP because the politicians don't have the back bone to do right by our descendents, who will inherit almost all of this debt without having a vote on it.
jflanagan | Oct 18, 2012, 04:48 PM EDT
It is not a right or left thing. The President offers nothing different for the next four years and we can't afford the debt. Governor Romney might not be a great amount better, but he will be better. Personally, I wish Gary Johnson had a chance, which would be much better. It is amazing that so many know so little or care so little about our debt. Go here to be shocked: http://www.usdebtclock.org/ Right now it is over $51,000 per man, woman and child and the total debt is larger than the total Gross Domestic Product. It is serious and we can't afford voting for someone because he seems nice, speaks well or someone might call us racist.

Romney just wants to be president. It's the only reason he ran for governor in MA, and he bought himself that office look at the campaign money HE spent. Notice he didn't run again? He takes credit for things, like education, that were already in place in MA. He brags about working across the aisle on health care in MA - of course the Democrats worked with him since health care is what they wanted!! - and now he's against it?? Where does this guy really stand on issues? Ryan is a pretty scary too - even FOX called him out on his lies at the RNC. These are two men who lie and twist the truth. Ex. Romney says he's for immigration because "my father was born in Mexico". I laugh - his father was a US citizen living in Mexico because grandpop had a bunch of wives and that was breaking our laws. Romney is scary folks.

Western civilization includes me, my family, my grandchildren. That is why I don't like Obama. It's personal. God Bless America. Why are no Facts (actual) cited re.
Additionally Romney had the edge in the following 3 key areas:
Taxes 51-44
Solving budget deficit 59-36
Healthcare 49-46
Did Romney give any concrete proposal?
How can Obama resist saying "Voodoo economics" when he hears the vacuous promises given by Romney?
The three areas where R said he differs from Pres. Bush are all exactly what Bush said during his term. TRMS showed the clips and the wording by both was almost identical, the substance identical.
O'Hanlon | Oct 18, 2012, 03:33 PM EDT
Romney was well beaten by a polished Obama and he even contributed to his own downfall by fluffing his lines when trying to capitalise on a terroist attack. Hardly the behaviour befitting a man with aspirations to become US President.
What is it about Irish Central and Romney. When the Irish arrived in America they were very much Democrats but now the "O Reilley Factor" appears to be holding sway with Irish Americans espousing the kind of opinions that made Thatcher and Reagan so reviled in Eire.
Hold the press! Irish Central have posted about the 10th pro-Romney article in a row, and the only articles written by Democrats have been concessionary in their awe of those flashing white teeth and the smarmy, second hand car salesman telesales schtick that is so cornball that it almost beyond parody.
If you want to know who won the debate look at the odds of not one but every main bookmaker in the Irish market where Romney's odds dropped almost universally to 2/1 and below after the debate.
Now don't tell me any of you Romney-ites are going to be arguing against the "invisible hand" of the market? Bookmakers are right more often than not and I'd trust their judgement over Irish Central and its Irish made good Romney bias which is as blatant as switching on that other cringeworthy crony capitalist warbler O'Reilley.
It is so embarassing to see so many Irish-Americans swallow that turgid dross. Cut taxes for billionaires! Yay! Cos the reason we're in this mess is cos there's a lack of billionaires sitting on trillions of dollars of capital.
Obama will win, not because he's great, but because Romney is the worst candidate for Presidency since George Dubya. And there isn't a wooden Al Gore around to make ROmney slip through the cracks via the back door.
IrishAndProud | Oct 18, 2012, 03:27 PM EDT
The day before the debate, Gallup had Romney leading Obama, 50-46. The day AFTER the debate, it was Romney ahead, 51-45. Today, Romney now leads 52-45. Obama may have 'won' the debate (say some), but he's losing the war. He's slipping, folks...even Real Clear Politics (which up until recently the left just loooooved to cite, to show Obama's 'strength') now has Romney leading in the electoral college. Denial of reality -- of what's really happening, here -- is not a good course.

Sorry to disappoint you, Ed, but only you and Fox News would agree that Romney still holds the lead. Personally, I find these debates both irksome and worthless. Almost like a Spelling Bee for presidential candidates. Lots of fun for the media and a bone thrown to the public to pretend that it has a real voice in this election so dominated by PAC money thanks to the vile Citizens United Supreme Court decision. If after a year of political haggling, smears and billions of dollars spent to buy the next election, most reasonable persons have already made up their minds. I doubt if many will be swayed by these vacuous debates.
IrishAndProud | Oct 18, 2012, 02:19 PM EDT
Like it or not, my friends...Barack Obama is falling further and further behind Mitt Romney, in the polls. Even if you can say Obama 'won' that debate the other night (and overall most observance puts it at more of a draw), he's losing the election. Winning a battle but losing the war doesn't secure the election, for him...and he is indeed losing it. I might also add: isn’t it interesting that of all the posters (and columnists) on Irish Central, those who openly, verbally HATE the United States of America the most intensely also back Barack Hussein Obama the most ardently? Perhaps by the most astronomical mathematics it’s just coincidence; nevertheless, it does tend to affirm what the American majority have long-since realized about this strange man Obama and his supporters...and is quite notable. So, my personal thanks for the affirmation.

Of course he wouldn't waste his time. Every time I think I've heard everything kooky that the right wing throws out there, I'm always stunned that you guys can think up even more trash. If it wasn't so pathetic, it would almost be funny. You poor soul.

The difference between Democrats and Republicans is that Democrats admit when they lose as Obama did in first debate. The "cognitive dissonance" of today's Republican party defies logic. If a boxer get's "knocked down for the count" nobody believes him if he says he won as Republicans claim in debates 2 and 3. The moderator is allowed to correct lies when the truth is documented. Romney thought he could throw his weight around and bully the moderator like he did in the first one and lost.C'mere Repubs, let me dry your eyes.
Hey Monsoonman, don't West Virginians suffer enough jokes at their expense without your "bleating about sheep" more then once. Reminds me how Romney offered his chin to Obama by saying he was there for 100% of Americans.

According to today's score from the HuffPost poll of its readership, Obama won the debate, 46.48%; Romney won, 34.27%, and the "Neither Won" score is under 20%. There are polls, and then there are other polls. The most accurate poll will happen in less than three weeks on election day.

New Gallup poll out this morning: Romney gained another point on Obama, his momentum is gaining. Romney now up 52/45 a huge 7 point lead over the failure in the Whitehouse
Monsoonman | Oct 18, 2012, 01:23 PM EDT
Probably the MOST disturbing to the liars in the Whitehouse? Their phony, made up war on women campaign designed to portray Mitt Romney as a Misogynist, has FAILED. Women are not as stupid as Obama and his cohorts think they are. They are flocking to Mitt Romney by the millions and now Romney has pulled ahead of obama w/the women as well.

@junglejim26. I seem to recall seeing Romney taking time out more than once during this campaign to tool around in his boat while his surrogates sweated it out and while Obama continued to campaign or perform his Presidential duties and work. I suspect he will behave similarly if he were elected. He has a CEO mentality.

We recently returned from four weeks in Ireland and everyone we
talked to in Dublin and Belfast said that they admire President Obama for his honesty, his decisions and his attitude! Mitt Romney seems to be travelling in the trunk of the clown car driven by Carl Rove or Rove's daffy minions... Besides, Romney walks as though his shoelaces are tied together. This is not presidential!

"McNamara31" - Why do you just glibly say I sound "stupid"? Why not do a little study about what I said about the ring. He does indeed wear a ring. He has indeed worn it for 30 years on his wedding ring finger. And, yes, an Islamic scholar who recently saw a close-up photo of the ring has stated that it says "There is no God but Allah". Now, why has nobody contradicted this? If somebody said it about me and it was wrong, I would sue them. Why no legal action? Don't just call me stupid - you will never learn anything by assuming that everyone else is stupid. Éamonn, Dublin.

What simpletons, so easily duped by the lying liars in the Whitehouse. Is it because you want to tell you sweet little lies? Because you want to be a sheep and herded along? The reason voters in West Virginia are so vehemently against obama is because he is systematically killing all of ther jobs w/his war on coal. You know his EPA says they will "crucify" our energy sector? They tell the unemployed miners & companies to open up "theme parks" where they used to have real jobs...Liberal logic unchecked.

In the presidential debates(and primaries) Mitt Romney has been extolling his record as Massachusetts governor when truth is :Romney promised Massachusetts that he would implement a jobs-creation program that would be “second to none in the history of the state.” But in his four years in office, Massachusetts ranked 47th out of 50 states in job growth. Romney’s claims to be a job creator are fantasy.

We can disagree who won what and when... But we need someone to lead this Country forward, not back. I voted for Hope and Change, and got screwed. I want someone who is going to fix the Economy and JOBS. The War on woman is bull crap, the only War going on is in Afghanistan. I am voting for the man that can fix this country, not take vacation every other week, and spend our tax dollars like its his and his wife's. Just remember, this President is turning the Internet over to the UN, so we can pay another tax every time we sign on! Vote your heart and brain, not because someone is cool or a good talker. This Country is falling apart at the seams, we need someone to fix it, NOW... A Pissed off Democrat... Ten years ago, I said to a British Resident, who was taking a holiday in the USA, Thank you for PM Brown, she said, you can have him. I hear all these Countries saying how great Obamie is, now I can say, You Can Have Him...

Not a total surprise that voters feel a businessman can solve all our economic woes, even though past business stars like Herbert Hoover and to a degree even George W. Bush drove us to financial perdition. Why a state like West Virginia with some of the poorest families in the country would vote for a swell like Romney can only be assigned to the fact he looks like a president, while BHO does not.

Obama can't talk about jobs. Today's out of work Americans who applied for unemployment this week is again up 44,000. 23,000,000 Americans out of work, given up looking for work, or only finding part-time work. He can't talk about the economy with a growth of only 1.2%. We would be in a second recession right now if it wasn't for Bernanke's printing money for Q!, Q2, and Q3 . He can't talk about Foreign Policy with his cover-up on Libya. He can't talk about his success on poverty with one in six Americans now in poverty.
He can't talk about the debt by his adding six trillion dollars to our national debt and still more to come. Wait------- he can talk about how he helped sexually active women by saving them the $ 9.00 per month they normally paid for their birth control pills at Walmart, which is now being paid by their healthcare insurance.

If Mitt Romney was successful it was because Americans want to believe the pretty lies he's telling. We heard the exact same economic BS from George Bush and it landed us in the economic gutter (All except the wealthiest who are still making record-breaking amounts of money). If you are not rich and you are voting for this man, just wait until his Republican economic policies ruin your already failed mortgages, allows more unregulated corporations send more jobs overseas and tax cuts for the middle class continue to disappear and the tax cuts for the wealthy continue to grow. His still selling trickle-down economics, which is a lie. If you want to get more money flowing, give it to the middle class and not the rich in "hopes" that they might use it to hire people.

Since PBO cleaned Willard's clock Tuesday nite there has been a marked reluctance on the right's side to acknowledge the obvious - their dude lost and lost big! Romney was way ahead for the first 45 minutes. When the "moderator" (what honest moderator does on the spot fact checking and on top of it, gets it wrong?) ganged up on Romney with a lie about the "Act of Terror" defense the President gained a bit. Tens of millions who did not hear her admission that she was wrong about the "Act of Terror" comment in the Rose Garden will still think the President won because they will cling to anything and ignore his record. The President has no viable plan to reduce the spending and has no fortitude to have such discipline.

Clearly President Obama won the debate on October 16. Obama is a leader and has always spoken the truth, even when it is not something that the American people want to hear. Romney is a follower and does not speak the truth, from my observation, and just tells the American people what he thinks they want to hear.
Do Americans want to go back to the Bush years, when the Republicans destroyed our economy in the States and around the world?

It is always hilarious to see how the right wing spins furiously (and blames the messenger) when they're losing. Want a clear indication of how dark the dark Farnan is whistling in is? Have another look at his reference to a slightly favorable CNN poll still reflecting the first debate. Anyone who can call CNN "left leaning" hasn't been watching it for the last 5 years! That once bastion of impartiality has been leaning only slightly less "right" than the so-called Fox "News". It is significant that most polls have always (and still) register former Governor Romney "better for the economy" (apparently meaning big business), while the same respondents rate the President "better for the middle class" which is why in the crucial "swing states" the President is winning. The FULL polls generally run about a week behind events - so the real numbers in response to the likely effect of the debate will be NEXT week - when we'll see if the sneaky (and probably fraudulent) promise Romney made about "no tax on Dividend or Interest income for those earning under $250,000" (heard by most of America as "just another gift to the rich guys") has any traction down in Florida where many retirees live on dividend and interest income.

Where is my post?
Murph46 | Oct 18, 2012, 09:59 AM EDT
I believe it is unfortunate that Romney may become president. Obama made a critical mistake in believing the Republicans would work in the best interest of all Americans not just the very rich and white males. Obama tried to work with the Republicans, but the Republicans only agenda was to disrupt the process to prevent Obama from achieving his goals. By the time Obama realized the Republicans objective it was too late and the Republicans had gained control of the House of Representatives. The worldwide economic problems and in particular the Republican policies of the Bush years reared their ugly head during the past four years. The economy is recovering under Obama. It would have been much stronger, much sooner if the Republicans had cooperated for the good of the USA. Romney has changed his position on many issues not because he believes in what he is saying, but only to get elected. If he is elected he will line his own pockets and that of his cronies by reducing taxes on the very rich and increasing the size and number of loopholes available to him. The only loopholes he will close are those that are available to the middle class. Smoke and mirrors and deception are Romney’s tools. I believe there should be a public session in which the candidates are subjected to lie detector tests and each candidate supplies 50 yes - no questions to be asked of the other candidate and 20 for him/herself so each candidate can query the vulnerabilities of the other as well as an opportunity to promote their own attributes. If the candidate is determined to have lied in their responses, then the candidate would be disqualified. That would eliminate a whole lot of lies and innuendos by both parties during an election and the public would get an honest picture of the candidates. Hopefully that is what the public wants.

You will never get the liberal media to admit that Romney won. Obama blamed his dismal showing in 1st debate on being too polite. This debate he was anything but polite. He whined about having less time than Romney when the opposite was true. Seems the lamestream media eats that stuff up.

sean, I have a 20 year old son with Aspergers Syndrome, and he, too, may be Mensa "qualified".

Your last comment shows that you're melting down faster then Chocolate in a Sauna. Your last comment shows that you're grasping at every little straw.Oh Well..... "Proceed Monsoonman"
Monsoonman | Oct 22, 2012, 02:00 PM EDT
I just wrote a comment on farnan's latest piece and it is pertinent here too. SamDiCamillo, you are to be commended for trying to enlighten these close minded cretins who think obama is their messiah...They refuse to learn who he really is, or worse they know what he really is but embrace him anyway. Stockholm Syndrome?

SamDicamillo"Myself an avid Fox news fan, have been also been "Mensa" qualified since 1973, and to boot it requires a bit of intelligence to be a lifelong Jazz performer, such as my humble self." Well Sam,does Rox make you less modest, too?!Tku for so "humbly" gracing us with your resume. You're quite a wonder if you do say so yourself. You really should guard your 'gifts' more closely 'cause if you keep watching Fox (and their Rush Limbaugh clips)you are sure to keep "dumbing yourself down" I'm going to request that Mensa have you retested as you may no longer qualify as you've been engaging in "Brain Debilitating" behavior.

Well according to EphraimKibbey, viewing Fox news makes you :"More stupid". To which I can say : Myself an avid Fox news fan, have been also been "Mensa" qualified since 1973, and to boot it requires a bit of intelligence to be a lifelong Jazz performer, such as my humble self. I don't even have the patience to explain why so I'll just sign of with : R&R :2012

Monsoon, do you ever read the things you post or do you, like Willard, believe that whatever you are told is true? Ed, you never answered my question...if your POV is superior, why does the RNC feel the need to cheat in order to win?
EdinCali | Oct 21, 2012, 12:28 AM EDT
This is Ed Farnan: I notice that some are complaining about posts getting deleted. Just to let you know I have no control over what gets written in the comments section here. If it was up to me nothing would get censored, I don't believe in that.

I disagree w/you Lad, but of course am always ready to play golf w/you...BTW there are 32K scientists who agree with me on this global warming "science" Look up the Oregon Petition someday and you will see AGW is NOT settled science

Such uneducated, easily duped here who have swallowed the left wing pablum...Likewater starts on fire out of faucets due to fracking...NOT true, Oh you poor dummy. This is you at 2:16 this afternoon. Oh I see, you think you are talking to the dopes at TownHall, right? Or Redstate where all you have to do is say something and people tell you how smart you are. Sorry Bosco. BY the way...the best part about this is after you try to explain away how although you said this you meant something else, I'm going to force feed you the "Obama never said it was a terrorist attack" BS you've been trying to sell. The days of being nice to stupid people are over, Monsoon. There is no bipartisanship in American politics and you know it. What they do in Europe is fine with me; I'm all about compromising with people who are fair and intelligent. But that is where you missed the bus. You boycotted France when Duhbya was in office, now you want to be a MP. What a maroon.
seanomelb | Oct 20, 2012, 11:02 PM EDT
Global warming is not a pipe dream of any political point of view but used (Particularly by the right) to put profit before science,. I agree with Ephraim and Gore on this issue.
Monsoonman | Oct 20, 2012, 09:07 PM EDT
Big Dadd, you are really starting to lose it here....I NEVER said faucets weren't flammable, I said they were ALWAYS flammable in gas country. Now run along I have promises to keep before I sleep
BigDaddy | Oct 20, 2012, 08:52 PM EDT
The Republicans just wanted one more club to hit Obama over the head with during the election.

shuvonn | Oct 20, 2012, 07:06 PM EDT
what a fracking joke monsoonman..talk about muddying the waters.... FLUSH
Monsoonman | Oct 20, 2012, 06:53 PM EDT
Plus you came on here breathlessly telling us water faucets have flame coming out if them, as if it is something new. And I corrected you and told you it has always been that way in gas regions...Now you try to muddy the waters w/bogus science claiming methane levels are increased due to fracking...
It's a fact of life in "corporate America" For the first time, a scientific study has linked natural gas drilling and hydraulic fracturing with a pattern of drinking water contamination so severe that some faucets can be lit on fire.

The American people g have seen through this fraudster's bluff, and without the protection of the left wing American mainstream press propaganda it is clear to see what a sham Obama is.

And btw...lest you start the assuming game about me, I'm not a Repub, or even a Christian.

Obama NEVER called the terrorist attack on our consulate in Benghazi, a terrorist attack, he doesn't want to let us know his mideast policy/arab spring is a disaster.
The Commentator | Oct 18, 2012, 11:15 PM EDT

And today, the American people stand united in holding the families of the four Americans in our thoughts and in our prayers." "No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act.
Perhaps when there are meta polls done which examine a dozen or more over a period of a week you might be able to come to a reasonable conclusion.

The reason that affects me is that I will soon not have the comfort of knowing that the United States will be in a position to defend Western civilization. Western civilization includes me, my family, my grandchildren. That is why I don't like Obama. It's personal. God Bless America. How can Obama resist saying "Voodoo economics" when he hears the vacuous promises given by Romney? The three areas where R said he differs from Pres.

Although I did hear the raw truth on one of your radio stations about Obama yesterday, Exposed Obamas record...many in the audience are shocked because they never get to hear the other side of the story.

We recently returned from four weeks in Ireland and everyone we talked to in Dublin and Belfast said that they admire President Obama for his honesty, his decisions and his attitude!

AND I WANT TO MAKE IT REALLY CLEAR HOW JOB GROWTH WORKS. EVERY ECONOMIST KNOWS THIS. JOBS ARE NOT CREATED BY TAX CUTS TO THE WEALTHY. JOBS ARE CREATED BY THE DEMAND OF A GOOD OR SERVICE BEING INCREASED. HOW DO YOU INCREASE DEMAND? MAKE SURE THE MIDDLE CLASS ISN'T GETTING TAXED AT 40% WHILE THE RICH PAY ONLY 20% OR LESS!!!!!!!
rpbrown | Oct 18, 2012, 12:04 PM EDT

Why are GOPers such whiners and sore losers? When the President lost the first debate 2 weeks ago his supporters acknowledged the loss (and Willard's win).
