The hypocrisy and political correctness on the left will be the death of us
By: Ed Farnan | Published Sunday, March 13, 2011, 3:20 PM | Updated Friday, September 9, 2011, 10:07 PM

In Germany when a gunman jumps on a bus crowded with unarmed American Airmen, empties his firearm into them, while shouting Allah Akbar...Would it be jumping to conclusions to assume it is an act of terrorism? Namely Islamic terrorism?
In Texas, Major Nadal Hassan calmly walked into an assembly area filled with his fellow servicemen and repeatedly emptied his weapon into his unarmed comrades killing and wounding dozens. While squeezing the trigger he could be heard to chant Allah Akbahr. Would it be jumping to conclusions to consider it had an Islamic terrorism tie in...Somewhere?
President Obama told us not to jump to conclusions about the terrorist attack in Texas. Over a year later the White House still has not been able to say this was an act of Islamic terrorism, even though there is overwhelming evidence that it was.
So in this context, the demeaning, pretzel-like show put on by U.S. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley yesterday was illuminating. His attempt to justify how the German act of terrorism, really couldn't be construed as an act of terrorism.... turned out to be not only puzzling it was downright disturbing. Perhaps it was emblematic of the "Wildebeest Syndrome"? ( Dazed and confused, out maneuvered by its hunter)
Crowleys show put the politically correct mentality that permeates the White House and washes down to the Apparatchiks of his party into the spotlight. Just like when the Director of Homeland Security decided to refer to Islamic terrorism from now on as "man made disaster". It is nonsensical. A naive belief that if you don't mention the bogeyman's name, or change his name to something different, then it magically loses its power and really doesn't exist.
But you will notice there was no reticence by the Department of Homeland Security to recognize and boldly label the "real threats to America": Our returning veterans and right wing groups (Tea Party). Huh?
When Congresswoman Giffords was shot and others killed in Tucson recently by a crazed lone gunman, the din from the left & the main stream media caused spontaneous stigmata from the ears. They were falling all over themselves to blame it on Sarah Palin/ Tea Party,
Willful blindness? Partisan manipulation? The "wildebeest syndrome"? Take your pick or choose them all.
Editors Note: March 13, 2011, under pressure from the Obama administration ... P.J. Crowley resigned as spokesman for the State Department.

Ed. Have you been sitting to long? You write like you've injured a brain cell.
maloney | Mar 09, 2011, 08:38 AM EST
Thank you Niall for the courage to hire Ed. Thank you 2B for saying what's on many people's minds and calling a spade a spade. If you can't handle what From the Right Ed has to offer, what will you do when the right takes over the Senate & Potus?

I'm pleased to see an article here which criticizes "political correctness". I have long considered it to be "Left Wing McCarthyism". Such things as using "girl", as a generic for "woman", should not get anybody crucified. The term denotes youth & femininity, but not immaturity, unless it is preceeded by "little". Women refer to us as "guys", and sometimes "boys", and we don't get upset. Likewise, dating someone after work should not be "prohibited" by employers; this is a Civil Rights issue! These matters are a world apart from terrorism, but are related to this article, by their "political correctness"!

obama: islamic terrorist? whats that? nothing to see here, move along, man-made disastor... (i.e. his presidency)
maloney | Mar 08, 2011, 07:14 PM EST
The obama left has admitted to lying about double counting 500 billion on the obamacare health fiasko. Now there will be no savings, just debt. It has also come out that the obama left snuck over $105 billion into the obamacare bill so it will be financed. Hilary has just said the American press should be more like China & Russia. They need to stick the PC crap where the sun don't shine.

LOL!!! The last few comments are hilarious, keep em up! So blind you cannot see. Look at what's been coming out unabated and unanswered on the rest of this site in the past. All a writer had to say was Palin is an idiot and you'd nominate him for the Pulitzer Prize. So finally someone gets to put a spotlight on the foolishness and you start to whine. At least I.C. has the ballz to let another voice be heard, that takes some kind of courage. BTW: You have anything to counter the facts stated in this article? Didn't think so.
chesapeake | Mar 08, 2011, 09:25 AM EST
On the money. The sooner we get these maladjusted whiners out of power, the sooner the USA can start its' return most powerful nation status.

Living in Wisconsin, I've finally reached my breaking point on political right vs. left talk. Until recently, Irish Central was a bit of an escape from the angry comments in reader forums, talk radio, and the likes of both Fox and MSNBC. Looks like some people's unsatiable need to have "enemies" to hate in their lives has finally reached this little part of my world. It's another sad reflection on where we are as a nation and a world that we continue to focus on problems that drive us apart rather than solutions that could bring us together.
slainte39 | Mar 08, 2011, 01:41 AM EST
Who wants to lower himself that much to do it...arguing with an idiot. If you want a right wing spokesman on Irish Central...get one that's smarter than Sarah Palin...I'll listen. These people will be the death of conservatism...a real hi-jacking. Nothing more than anti-Obama, anti-this, anti-that rhetoric. Get positive and state your case for real solutions instead of always being "against something or someone"...it doesn't bring in many converts.

I notice nobody can defend the left in Ed's argument.
haasny007 | Mar 07, 2011, 09:12 PM EST
Farnan, who the hell are you? Who cares what you think? You obviously over-dosed on Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Fox News. Just have your 10th pint and go to sleep.
LinLinisme | Mar 07, 2011, 06:09 PM EST
America has never been in more danger than we are right now. Muslims are taking over our country. Our leaders have no courage, they just go along withour the courage to do anything to keep us safe, Yes, we do need our guns for protection.
seanomelbourne | Mar 07, 2011, 05:25 PM EST
The right seem to have a narrow view of "terrorism".If the lone gunman in Germany,Major Hassan or the marine in Iraq were lone gunman it could hardly be called "Islamic terrorism".Otherwise we may have to call McVeigh or the killer of DR.Tiller "Christian terrorist" or the crazy Christians who protest at the grave sites of fallen soldiers. Mr.Farnan seems to wants the last word as to what is "political correctness" or is he motivated by his extreme right wing views.
Dannymoore | Mar 07, 2011, 05:19 PM EST
Obama was in a Muslim school for approx 4 months in Indonesia, the rest of his time there was in a Catholic school. Having facts contributes to having stronger arguments.
ciarrai | Mar 07, 2011, 04:17 PM EST
Yeah, that last guy who got us into the Iraq war was a lefty. And that same guy blew the economy to bits. But you airhead righties keep thinking that the likes of Sarah Palin is a good idea. Yep, Obama is a Muslim and he was born in Kenya. Now, can we move on? Each of you fellows who has espoused the righty commandments has come down with that same malady that was written about in "What's The Matter With Kansas?" You continue to support parties, candidates, policies that don't have your best interest in mind. Did you really think George Bush and Dick Cheney cared for you and your family? How about all those people killed in Iraq? Cheney, with his 4 deferment to get out of Vietnam, was not concerned with all the blood he was complicit in bringing about. Sarah Palin? She is clueless and cares for Sarah Palin (and she had targets on the districts, including Giffords') These Republicans have hidden behind their fake patriotism and convinced your ilk that to disagree is to be unpatriotic. It is a sickening brew which is drunk by those who would defame Obama with false stories of his birth and promoted by those who assume that only those who swagger and talk about guns are able to defend this country. In the final analysis, it seems that Ed Farnan and his sympathizers are the ones suffering from "wildebeast syndrome". The R party, Fox News and that hokum that passes for patriotism have them dazed, confused and completely out-maneuvered. Next question.
justhimself | Mar 07, 2011, 03:53 PM EST
The left is in denial. They are not in touch with the real world, give them more power and we will be ruled with DEMENTIA.
ShamrockShore | Mar 07, 2011, 02:56 PM EST
The Elephant in the room will not be noticed 'til it wears a burka. Surely the word "terrorist" is someone who invokes terror. Whether acting alone or with others. This PC guff is crazy and cowardly. A human faculty is the ability to judge and make decisions based on that judgement. Lets hear it Folks!
rpmschevy | Mar 07, 2011, 01:46 PM EST
And RinehartS you are licensed Doctor to make such a ridiculous statement? Hey CanadianPat you are mostly correct, in times of war, that may be true, but per US Law, terrorism is defined as "...means premeditated, politically motivated violence". It could be a lone gunmen, however, the point of the article is that when facts have been made present, then stop using politically correct terms and speak as it is. You know the enemy does. Or should we ask the Islamic terrorists to kill thousands of Canadians and maybe you would then think differently.
Murph46 | Mar 07, 2011, 12:48 PM EST
Hey Getlin Deuce-It's scary ,your views seem to mesh so well with mine! keep em coming!
slainte39 | Mar 07, 2011, 12:46 PM EST
Any slant or spin to blame the "evil left" is this guy's agenda. Won't work on most average, thinking people. Talk about right wing propoganda...worse than left wing propoganda.
FastEddy | Mar 07, 2011, 12:44 PM EST
The score so far: Lightning strikes have killed more American Citizens than terrorists of all stripes. Homeland Security PPR has caused more grief for American travelers than the IRS.
Monsoonman | Mar 07, 2011, 12:12 PM EST
If any of you care to know, our Irish hybrid/American state department spokesman Phillip J. (PJ) Crowley was George Soros' right hand at The Center For American Progress. Yeah you gots to know it takes a silver tongued lad to spoon feed us bs, while telling us its sugar....out here to the rubes in the styxx. Just make sure you "sound" like you know what you are saying is true, that's all that (media) matters.
Getlin2 | Mar 07, 2011, 12:03 PM EST
I am not saying that Obama was not born here, or that he is secretly a muslim. What I am saying is that his early upbringing in muslim Indonesia has so ingrained muslim thinking in him that he cannot speak the truth about muslim terrorism.
Monsoonman | Mar 07, 2011, 11:30 AM EST
If Max Cady type Christian gunmen were emptying their weapons into crowds of unarmed people while reciting their favorite Bible verse, or blowing themselves up in the middle of shopping centers, or hijacking airplanes full of people and slamming them into crowded buildings, or honor killing their wives and daughters.....the backlash and revulsion against Christianity would be immediate and violent.
feeneycj | Mar 07, 2011, 11:14 AM EST
One Islamist who independently kills non-Muslims because of religion is an Islamic murderer. Multiple Islamists who plot together to kill, encourage via internet and other media to kill, share dangerous plots and inflame hate rhetoric against non-Muslims, are Islamic terrorists.

So if the gunamn were wearing a cross and whispered "Forgive them Lord, they know not what they do" he would be part of Extremist Christian Conspiracy and not simply a homicidal manic?

Political Correctness: "A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Thank you CanadianPat, bunkerisland and gksmithlcw. Farnan you're an idiot.

Of Course the immediate answer is replace Obama with McCain a true war hero who knows how to stamp out terrorism, maybe human rights along with it, put Sarah as his defense sec. and start striking across the Bering Sea to those dangerous Russians. Don't forget to cut more taxes. Who needs education, a decent infrastructure, or social security?

"In Germany when a gunman jumps on a bus crowded with unarmed American Airmen, empties his firearm into them, while shouting Allah Akbar...Would it be jumping to conclusions to assume it is an act of terrorism? Namely Islamic terrorism?" Yes it would be wrong... After all, I could go on a killing spree and yell a bunch of Christian phrases while so doing in order to make everyone think I was affiliated with Christian terrorists... Use your brain.
CanadianPat | Mar 07, 2011, 07:44 AM EST
Define the term terrorist. If it is restricted to a member of an organization which uses terror as a weapon, then in both cases they would not be terrorist acts but acts of lone mad men.Terrorizing the enemy is part of all arms forces weaponry,so all armed forces including the U.S.Army can be called Terrorist. The term has been miss used for so long that it means nothing!
Prevailer | Mar 07, 2011, 07:22 AM EST
Its all about WINNING. Its a lotto of agendas to marginalize others and go for points that elevate your views: WINNING.
DennisQ | Mar 06, 2011, 11:41 PM EST
The term political correctness means a certain orthodoxy among people on the Left; but there certainly is a counter-orthodoxy on the Right. Bush overemphasized the threat that radical Muslims present to us. For example, he called Saddam a jihadist when Saddam was an entirely secular figure.
Islam gets blamed for things that aren't religious at all. The Palestinians seek the return of their homeland, not because of Allah but because Western powers took it away from them. This quest is not a jihad.
Certain American right wingers are indeed inspired by a vision that certainly approaches religious fervor. Timothy McVeigh, for example, was a product of the Elohim City white separatist movement - a connection that was downplayed in the popular press.
maloney | Mar 06, 2011, 08:34 PM EST
Who is America's worst enemy? The muslims, the liberal government or the left wing. Flip a coin.
jamieLM | Mar 06, 2011, 07:34 PM EST
Evidently Obama, Napolitano, and others are afraid to "call a spade a spade," in case they might offend the Muslim community and/or lose some votes. What a bunch of wimps! Hel-lo - we Americans know Islamic terrorism when we see it. It is what it is. You can't deal with a problem when you can't even be honest and call it by its rightful name. C'mon, POTUS and others, stop with the "nicey-nice" rhetoric and develop a backbone, instead of being a bunch of PC spineless wonders.
