Hot mic catches President Obama making deals on our national security

Just like the Rorschach psychological test takes a snapshot into the real personality and character of the testee, an open mic offers the same glimpse into the person who inadvertently speaks off script into an open microphone.

The latest "hot mic" slip shows again, it's all about the politics.  You can firmly place bets that any strategic moves made by the White house up until Novembers elections, will be made for the best interests of the candidate and not the country.

According to ABC News in  SEOUL, South Korea - At the tail end of his 90 minute meeting with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev Monday, President Obama said that he would have "more flexibility" to deal with controversial issues such as missile defense, but incoming Russian President Vladimir Putin needs to give him "space."

Here is the exact exchange according to ABC News:

President Obama: "On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it's important for him to give me space."

President Medvedev: "Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you…"

President Obama: "This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility."

President Medvedev: "I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir."

It makes you wonder what sort of "December surprises" will be in store for America if President Obama gets re-elected in November.  Instantly a lame duck President, for 4 years if elected, for 2 months if defeated, immune from  pressure to stay on center, he will be free to pursue many of the goals he has had to temporarily give up due to re-election pressures.

As far as concessions to Russia, he has already given them more than they could ever dream.  President Obama, presided over our final manned space flight in the Space Shuttle and now we pay the Russians whatever they decide to charge to send our Astronauts to the Space Station.

Just how many more "concessions" are we going to make to the Russians, before they play nice with us? We already stopped deployment of our missile shield in 2009 in part of Europe for a vague  promise that the Russians would put pressure on the Iranians to stop development of their nuclear weapons quest. How is that working out for the world?

Syrian President Assad is slaughtering his own citizens in the streets of his country with the help of Russia.  The Russians have sent in special forces, armaments and technology, brazenly without fear of repercussions from the USA. Meanwhile Syria's neighbor, Israel, is being forced to restrain itself by the Obama administration.

Of course you hear not a peep of protest from the Russians now that oil is steadily hovering around the 107.00 per barrel mark, a crippling price for the world economy.  The Russians are reaping windfalls of dollars from their oil industry, while President Obama and his windmill/solar panel administration put roadblocks on our energy industry. It makes you wonder how many more Solyndra-like fiasco's are in store for us in an Obama 2nd term?

Would there ever be a budget under a 2nd term President Obama? Our nation has not even had a budget for the last three years of his term, it is unprecedented for our country not to have a budget. Also unprecedented is our nations credit downgrade and a spiraling, out of control 16 trillion and growing national debt.

What sort of Supreme Court Justices would a 2nd term president Obama appoint to the nations highest court?  Justices Kagan and Sotomayer offer a glimpse into what a 1st term President Obama would select, unfettered by re-election pressures, who would he choose?

In the meantime social issues such as free birth control pills, Viagra for men, an unfortunate shooting of a young black man in Florida, a trumped up "war on women", gay marriage and religious "freedom"  take center stage.  Just where the politicians want us to be focused.

I am appalled at the ignorance and biggotry displayed by many of the posters here. George W. Bush and his esteemed daddy and Dick Cheney were making deals to benefit themselves and their relatives with a very clear attitude of "I take care of my own first and screw the American public" for years. Did you hear one of them speak out when Halliburton moved their corporate headquarters to Dubai to avoid paying taxes to America? The Republican leadership will take care of themselves, as they have done for the past 30 years or more, and the rest of us be damned. Obama has yet to accomplish anything remotely close to the level of deception and out-right theft from the American people of either of the Bush presidents or Mitt Romney or most other higher level Republicans.
If the presidents wins re election he will have more flexibility to hand America to her enemies. I live near Boston and thank God everyday for "fly over" portions of my country who have taken back the house of representatives and hopefully will win the senate too, thereby frustrating this very damaging administration.
Oh please what a weak argument, requiring valid picture I.D. to vote/register to vote, is not an imposition, especially when the states have said they will provide it free of charge. The reason the left doesn't want picture/valid I.D. required of voters is so they can steal the elections through fraudulent means...There can be no other reason
Iconicles. President Obama is not pandering. The process of the President smoothing his path to his possible re-election and being given “space” is not a new idea, a radical one nor a concession. Russia continues to be economically unstable (except perhaps for oil exports) and a wild card along with Chief of State, Premier Putin who has deep roots in unpopular Russian organizations but is wily and no fool. President Obama's engagement with Russian President Dimitri Medvedev is of more delicacy and weight to global politics and America's influence than your snide comments. Recall that when Presidents Bush and Putin met in 2001 they became fast friends until then-Russian Foreign Minister Ivano refused to support President Bush's disreputable Iraq initiative. America is a young country and Americans are not well-versed in global affairs. Before Columbus sailed to America, Ivan the Great was establishing a vast Russian empire, building palaces and codifying laws. As Americans and global citizens, we would be well-served to read beyond our borders and discover the rest of the world.
Monsoonman. Attorney General Holder is attempting to stop voting fraud (not voter fraud) that has been rampant in the United States for years. Red lining, Gerrymandering, intimidation and harassment kept populations of poor blacks from going to the poles. Corrupt politicians used influence to leverage themselves into office at the expense of their constituents. BTW, it is not just a valid ID, it is a valid photo ID (or sundry other methods of proof). And this requirement is a discriminatory practice if you are among the categories of people who either can't provide one or can't afford one. This may include naturalized citizens, the disabled, the elderly, the poor, those who live in rural parts of the country and may never have had the need for one or poor Hispanic (not all are illegal). Voting is a constitutional right (not a privilege) If this requirement is carried out responsibly it will ensure that each vote counts for each voter. However, too often requirements like this lead to large segments of the population being disenfranchised. For example, “...South Carolina and Texas, Alabama and Mississippi are covered by Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, so they will have to obtain approval from the Justice Department or the federal court here before their photo ID requirements can go in effect.” The historical reason that these southern states have this specific process is because they have been engaged in acts of violence and defiance of federal law through their own Jim Crow legislation.
Obama was 'doing' politics, working hard. This may come as a shock to right wing types, who are used to their heroes, for example Bush, taking long holidays or just dropping bombs on everything in terms of a solution.
Maybe Obama has a reason to be confident. As Josef Stalin said: "It is not the votes that count, but who counts the votes. Seeing how his Attorney General Holder is suing every state that is trying to prevent vote fraud. Since when did it become "discriminatory" to require valid I.D. to vote or register to vote? IMHO this is shaping up to be the most fraudulent election in our history.
Evidently, Obama is quite confident about the outcome in Nov.
LOL iconocles !
I'm not sure if I'm more offended by Obama and his pandering or by what I'll probably see once I follow this link I saw about an Irish Che Guevara statue.
I think that EVERYONE knows that in the run up to an election, the president & congress rarely accomplish much. Unfortunately, it is one of the faults of the US brand of democracy.
Obviously, Obama is "tilting at windmills" and has no real indicator of the real world and only the "reel" world. There are plenty more "Red Sonia's" where she came from. The "three Supremes" are only the future "tip of the iceberg". In reality, they are the "three stoogettes" and are coming to a court near you.
