The decline of the old main stream media, is offset by the rise in popularity of alternative sources of information, cable news, talk radio and the internet. This has introduced us to a new type of journalist, not seen before on the airwaves because they were never given a seat at the main stream medias table: The conservative pundits, lead by Irish Americans and their distinctive pugnacious style. Everyday we can invite these personalities into our homes for a bit of journalistic pugilism, Irish American style. Hey we’re not fighting we’re just having a family get together.

This has caused lots of angst among the established media as they get unseated from their thrones and Americans get to hear the other part of the story, something denied to them before: The unvarnished truth, warts and all.

Leading the way for this new media are such superstars as Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Pat Buchanan & Megan Kelly…With them you know there will be a journalistic brawl Irish style and there will be no backing down. Guests must prove their point with facts, sound bytes don’t work on these guys, you need to back up your stand intellectually with facts, or be exposed. There are no softballs when you sit in the chair opposite these tough Irish people.

For years all we got was a left dominated media filtering our information. We seldom heard, or got a chance to hear a point of view polar opposite to the established media. No more are we going to settle for a script reading pompous newscaster telling us we are getting all of the news we need to know.

And a special shout out to the politicians who want to insert the “Fairness” Doctrine into our media because YOU don't like America getting the other side of the story….Don’t even try. Americans now know what the other side of the story is and we don’t need government censoring what we see and hear. Do you hear us?

It's not the union workers, it's the union bosses that are the problem. The workers should tar & feather the scum for destroying the pensions amoung other things. I second monsoons post.
Liam: I don't think Republicans are diametrically opposed to labor unions, as long as they compete in the private sector. I think where people have a fundamental difference is unionization of govt. workers. There are no choices, people have no alternatives and are forced to pay taxes for government union wages, which btw the dues go alnmost exclusively to support democrats. Let the govt. workers keep their civil service, but no unions...Right now they have both and it is utterly unfair to taxpayers.
Traditionally, the Irish were always Democrats but as they joined the mainstream they became Republicans. However there is one subject that has to be addressed, the Democrats always gets the Union vote. whereas the Republicans are diamterically opposed. I shiver to think where would I be without my union. The Republicans have it and don't want to share the pie.
George: The only "obsession" I knew Dr. Bennett to be afflicted with was a gambling obsession that he "confessed" to years ago. You mean to tell me he has another one too, warmongering? Well I can live with that, nobody's perfect. As far as Israel goes, all they have to do to find lasting peace is is to tear down their security walls and give up the land on their borders and everything will be just fine....NOT!
I am a proud Conservative 3rd generation Irish-American Christian (not Catholic). Thank God someone on here tells it like it is. The leftist socialists-commies, have ruled American media for far too long. We've been force fed their anti-American garbage and now we have the other side of the news and they hate it. The communists invaded the US in the 60's and we are reaping the whirlwind now. Rampant crime, nowhere is safe, people filled with hatred and meanness. Most things are upside down. The leftists have led us down a bad road, and will not give up their authority easily. Let freedom ring!
EdinCali: Do you support Bennett's obsession with the US getting involved in wars overseas? I don't. I'm an isolationist--let's mind our own business, God Knows we have enough problems without looking for more overseas. Bennett seems to think that Israel is the 51st state of the Union. I think he claims to be Catholic, as I am. I'm ashamed to belong to the same church as this lover of war and violence.
Tea Party members are sincere, but they were also organized into existence by the far right Koch brothers. Try googling: Tea Party report Koch October 2010 Guardian. ... Koch and fellow far right billionaires are meeting in January 2011 to plan next stage of their campaign to end Social Security, the minimum wage, health care reform and corporate taxes. At their last meeting two Supreme Court Justices attended from the same Court that has ruled that corporations can donate as much as they please to political campaigns. ... US media are controlled by five corporations, all but GE being far right in politics.
It really does not matter that you are left or right in the USA. The country is governed, through lobbyists and ultraconservative framing of news stories, by a selected corporate, banking and media right wing that exports jobs to the cheers of its fans at Fox News. Sensible conservatives like Mitt Romney have no chance. Most US corporations are still honest citizens, but sensible, prudent, moderate executives no longer control the Republican party.
I love Bill and Sean !! Most Americans support them and their views - consider the last election! Their voices add balance to the left leaning media in the US !!
Thanks everyone! I'm honored to be among my brethren who gather here from all parts of the globe....Hey Yank, nice hat you got there! I have listened to Dr. Bennett for quite some time, he seems to be on obscure times and stations so it has been intermittent. He is intelligent and thoughtful, so I have appreciated his take on things. Slainte!
ED, YOU'RE OF RAY OF SUNSHINE IN THIS UNFAIR & UNBALANCED LIBRAL IRISH NEWSLETTER. WE'RE A SMARTER AND WISER GENERATION OF IRISH HERITAGE. ALTHOUGH MY FATHER WAS A CONSERVATIVE BEFORE IT WAS POPULAR AND REGISTERED AS A REPUBLICAN WHEN HE FIRST BACAME A CITIZEN. HE WAS AHEAD OF HIS TIME.
I think they are all a disgrace to the Irish!
You're a welcome addition indeed, Ed. Keep up the good work. And I believe that Megyn's maiden name really is Kelly. She was married to a Kendall, then got divorced.
I consider myself American-Irish not Irish-American because my grandpaents and parents were born in the US and we are all proud of our Irish heritage but we are Americans first. If that would consider me conservative then so be it and I live in the south.
Yes you can be A proud Conservative Irish American!!
