Michelle Obama's advice: eat what I say, not what I eat

Reminiscent of Marie Antoinette's dietary advice to her French subjects, our present day Marie who occupies the White House, Michelle Obama, has been lecturing us on the virtues of eating carrot and celery sticks instead of McDonalds super sized meals. Her zeal for healthy food for the rest of us, has put federal edicts on school lunch programs and restaurants, to force them to feed the unwashed masses "healthy food".

Well, it is always a good idea to practice what you preach and lead by example so the saying goes. So when I happened to see what was on the White House menu for the super bowl glitterati guest list, I almost fell over. Expecting to see carrot and celery sticks, fresh fruit, bean sprouts and 'tofurkey' strips, the menu featured the following heart stopping items: Bratwurst, Kielbasa, Cheeseburgers, Deep dish pizza, Buffalo wings, Potato salad, Twice baked potatoes, Potato chips, Pretzels, Chips and dips, Salad, Ice Cream...Defibrillation Paddles (just kidding).

As the rest of the country dutifully struggled with Michelle Obama's dietary edicts, the first lady herself was serving up a witches brew of cholesterol, sodium, high fat, calories and sugar. Do I hear double standard?

Which brings me to another glaring double standard of do what I say, not what I do. President Obama has been lecturing the President of Egypt, Mubarrak to listen to his people who are demonstrating in the streets.

On Tuesday the Obama Administration asked Hosni Mubarak to step aside.
On Saturday morning the Obama Administration said Mubarak must stay.
On Saturday evening the Obama Administration said Mubarak should step aside.
On Sunday Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Mubarak must stay in power.

Besides sending the mixed messages to the world regarding Egypt, President Obama you should take your own advice and listen to the American people. We have been peacefully assembling in the streets and demanding a reversal of course that you have set for our country.

Listen to us Mr. President, we want you to go on a fiscal diet.

Ok, let's be clear here: Michelle Obama is First Lady, which is NOT an elected position. Hillary Clinton thought she was co-President when Slick Willie was in office, but she was WRONG. There is NO PRECEDENT in US law for the First Lady to make public policy. And don't give me the BS about Elenor Roosevelt-she had no power either. Only Congress can make laws. As far as what people ate in 18th century America, well, that depends really what section of the country one lived in. And, most people (including slaves), grew their own food, even 'po folks (as we say here in the South). I'll take a mess of collards with corn bread, black-eyed peas, 'tater salad, sweet tea, and fried chicken any day over McDonalds. It's much more healthier anyway.
Isn't the whole thanksgiving thing about getting the crops growing and appreciating the success in becoming self sufficient??? If the only thing you have to complain about Michelle Obama's diet (who cares) GET A LIFE!
I can see you both sitting side by side in your semi detached trailers smoking your pipe, drinking moonshine whilst the last 200 yrs roll by.whistling Davy Crockett killing his "bar when he was only three" and tragically believing it happened.Mman is in his mescaline dream world I do believe. Maloney well what can I say they didn't eat fruit or veg no wonder your a warlike nation.
I suppose you both killed a "bar" when you were only three. What a pair of tragics.
Lad...Our forefathers ate lots of meat and drank LOTS of whiskey. Animals were very nervous in those days. Ibuprofen wasn't invented yet, neither was novacaine for teeth disorders and a good pull of whiskey in the morning got everything right and kept it right all day....My comment was on the hypocrisy of the whitehouse when it came to citizens demonstrating. It seems some citizens are more equal than others in obamaworld.
My forefathers did the same as I do now. Two freezers full of meat I shot & cleaned less the freezers. Re-read my post seano, I said it had nothing to do with eating. Early Americans actually ate very little fruit & veggies showing your ignorance once again seano. You & michele o have a lot in common, screwed up thinking & lard arses. The latter doesn't come from eating healthy.
Maloney your forefathers did not eat McDonalds. They ate plenty of veg and fruit.your full of poppycock.
Ed Farnan should look for a new job, maybe with Fox news.
If this has become a forum to bash the President and the First Lady then I will discontinue reading Irish Central.
Sugar & salt getting more expensive by the day. Business being told what to serve. obama isn't worried about what we eat. They are giving us another little nudge toward socialism/marxism in their plot to destroy the America of our fore fathers.
Mman beck, I read your beck parroting and quite frankly I'm disappointed. You love to preach democracy but you wish to choose which state should be democratic. Michelle is not telling people what to eat only advising on healthy alternatives. As she has said take-out or comfort food is ok in a balanced diet. It's the lazy Americans who cannot be bothered cooking and gorge themselves and their children on junk food, eating themselves into bad health which you Americans pay in health costs. So much for "choice" you choose to eat yourself into diabetes and the healthy people have no choice but to pay higher medical insurance. how self serving can you lot be.
1/2soda farl 1 potato farl black puddins and 2 eggs for breakfast every morning help you face any day get stuck into that
Is this now a forum to smashmouth Obama? Dump Farnan.
Everything in moderation people!
NEVER TRUST WHAT A POLITICIAN (OE HIS WIFE) SAYS.
