Can a "Passionate Conservative" be elected President?

OK we had a "Compassionate Conservative", with President Bush for 8 years and saw the results of that. Is it now time to experiment with a "Passionate Conservative"?

Our compassionate conservative president seemed to have a big heart when it came to increasing government size and programs, which resulted in increasing our debt. Of course a lot of this was done under the guise of having been attacked on 911, national defense, gearing up with TSA, etc.

Perhaps President Bush thought he could get a consensus of people behind him by using "compassion" as a campaign slogan?

The Bush Presidency lead to Obamas "Hope and Change". This has brought us government debt and spending on steroids and an ever larger and more intrusive government. Even though "Hope and Change" was done under the guise of middle of the road leanings, looking through the rear view mirror it is plain to see that we have been thrust very left by this President.

So is America ready for a "Passionate Conservative" as President?

Newt Gingrich has been making the rounds of the talk shows and doing all of the "right" things in order to lay the groundwork for a run at the Presidency. But one of the main sticking points on the Gingrich resume' was his unfaithfulness while married to wives 1-2.

Gingrich himself claimed in an oblique sort of way that his passion for his country lead him to passion in other areas of his life...Er, OK. But maybe if you just spoke plainly, admitted you were a cad and didn't try to dress it up as some sort of patriotism, it would have sat better with the rest of us.

The bottom line is that Gingrich is a brilliant historian as well as a policy wonk, who knows how to balance a budget and with his razor keen wit, would be a formidable opponent in any debate. His brilliance would lead the country out of the mess we are in.

If he was a liberal, the philandering wouldn't even create a yawn in the press or his electorate.

But Gingrich is a conservative and in the eyes of the main stream media he will be judged by a higher standard.

As Bill Clinton summed it up when one of his political appointees was under fire: "character doesn't matter, what matters, is can he do the job"

It will be interesting to see if America is ready for a passionate conservative as their next leader.

Lad, I'd take the veracity and dignity of the National Enquirer over that rag, New York Times any day. National Enquirer has plenty of reporters to do in depth reports and is a huge money maker, unlike the NYT's....Also who exposed John Edwards, sure as heck wasn't the NYT'S, it was the Enquirer. But heads and shoulders over both of them is I.C.
The National Enquirer!! hardly a conservatory of truth and facts. You have now entered the realm of "conspiracy theories"Mman.
So that's all it takes to impress you Lad, eloquence? How about this time BEFORE the next election obama unseals all of those sealed past records of his, you know like all of the other candidates are forced to do by an honest press "corpse". How about the National Enquirer burrowing in and getting at those records? Or better yet, Irish Centrals group of intrepid investigative reporters zero in on all of obamas past and illuminate it here? I.C. would become a worldwide household name.
If I wanted to read right wing ranting & raving, I would have signed up for conservative ,right wing, radical web sites. Which this site seems to be evolving into. Keep the focus on Ireland and stay away from the politics.
All Obama needs is his eloquence Mman, Newt can tag along with his ex wives and his failed career.
Gingrich is a phoney and a charlatan. There are no compassionate or passionate conservatives-just ambitious and greedy panderers in today's American so-called conservative movement. God help the USA if Gingrich ever gets to the top.
That's exactly what Trump said the other day...He couldn't be any worse than the train wreck that's presently in the whitehouse.
He couldn't be worse than the idiot we have now.
Lad..Just name the place and time and I'll make sure Mr. Gingrich is there. My story was metaphorically referring to .50 caliber intellectual shell casings from Mr. Gingrich vs. Obamas girl scout pen knife.....no need to be alarmed.
Bring it on Mman.
Here is a guy who warned that his grandchildren might have to live in a very different America - a secular atheist America, possibly dominated by radical Islamists. The question isn't Can he Win! The question is, does he understand the words coming out of his mouth?
I wouldn't vote for Gingrich but I needed to point out the fact that George Bush was not a conservative. He gave us bigger spending and larger government than when he started his terms.
I would love to see Gingrich and Obama in a debate. No teleprompters or ear pieces allowed. Then we'll see just what it means when Obama says bring a knife to a gunfight....The debate floor would be littered with Gingrich shell casings, while Obama would be standing in a urine puddle clutching his little girl-man pocket knife.
Let him run, people. Like The Donald's waving around his own fake birth certificate it will be an occasional source for humor. Besides the spending stimulates the economy, exposes more character flaws to public debate (like "politics made me unfaithful") and further fractures the loonie extreme right.
Seems olovely never got past reading the first word, no wonder the meaning of the article escaped her. Try reading the whole article first before you comment, should take the avg. chimp 60 seconds. Or do the words have too many syllables for you. Ask Sister to help with your phonetic comprehension.
