Ann Coulter calls Ted Kennedy a pestilence
By: Ed Farnan | Published Friday, November 11, 2011, 11:45 AM | Updated Friday, November 11, 2011, 11:45 AM

Right on the heels of loose cannon Alec Baldwin's slam of Ronald Reagan, a political bomb thrower of a different stripe stepped up to the very hot mic. While on the Sean Hannity radio program today, right wing conservative firebrand, Ann Coulter used her razor sharp tongue to describe
Irish American Ted Kennedy as a pestilence on America.
If it wasn't for the fact I had tuned in to get pollster Frank Luntz's breakdown of the GOP Presidential debate last night, I probably wouldn't have been listening today. But after I listened to Mr. Luntz critique the debate in his scientific style, I kept the radio on a bit longer when Ann Coulter came on.
What caused me to pause was the ease of the pestilence description as it slipped off her tongue, in an off the cuff monologue describing the evils of liberalism. Said in such a matter of fact way, as if it is common knowledge and only an idiot would dispute her intelligent opinion on the pestilence matter. Very similar to the way Al Gore lectures us that man caused global warming is "settled science." Proven, settled fact, lets move on.
Now I have heard many unflattering descriptions of Saint Ted over the years, but have never heard him described as a pestilence before, maybe I just wasn't tuning in. Of course those critiques of Ted Kennedy came while he was still a living breathing member of the Senate, causing the mischief which Ann Coulter is criticizing him for.

But Ted left this world a couple of years ago and is not around to defend himself. So is it really necessary to use such derogatory language in grinding his memory into the dirt like that? Besides as I wrote in an earlier piece, the Kennedy family gave a lot to America including their lives. Lets let the Brothers rest in peace, if we have disputes with Teds lawmaking, lets change them through legislation.
The Reagan and Kennedy names are synonymous and symbolic of powerful Irish Americans in our nations history, let's respect those names. They have made an indelible mark on our country and culture. Lets keep their names out of the current vitriolic language, they can't stand up on the podium and fire back at their critics like they used to. They've already fought their last battles, let's keep their names out of the current battles.

Ann Coulter has a bad case of hoof and mouth disease.
seanomelbourne | Nov 14, 2011, 05:15 PM EST
Mman what other peoples money ? the mineral wealth belongs to the people and private companies make huge profits extracting the nations wealth and they send billions of dollars overseas to their head offices in NewYork,London and Zurich. The government has taken a leaf out of Norways book who have a huge sovereign wealth fund(as do the Saudi's).These fund will be around long after the the oil or metals run out, although in Australia's case we have enough iron ore and copper reserves to last hundreds of years.

I often admire Ann Coulter, and, if I met her, would be happy to ask her out. However, I must agree with Ed Farnan here! Regardless of Ted Kennedy's faults, I like to remember 2 things which came out, at his funeral mass. 1) One of his sons described how, as a young boy, his dad wouldn't let gim give up, until he reached the top of a peak, on a sled. 2) Another son recalled how, I think as a teen, he & Dad were leaving a motel room. The boy had noticed a rather large tip left in the bathroom, for the chambermaid. When the son brought this to his father's attention, Ted said that it was okay; that many people were not as fortunate as they (the Kennedys) were. Ted also had a strong friendship with an unlikely colleage-Sen. Orin Hatch!!

come on monoman give it up, we all can see what your doing, anything that's "failing" is socialist or communist or whatever other "ist" you decide on at the time, everything thats great is capitalist, who's money do you think these economy's are running on? yours? are you going to print some more and hand it out?
Monsoonman | Nov 12, 2011, 07:36 PM EST
On top of that the "protected" failing socialist countries pay infinitesimal amounts for their defense, the USA has been shouldering most of that cost.
Monsoonman | Nov 12, 2011, 07:29 PM EST
That's fine Sean, you haven't outstripped your natural resources yet, but the time will come and that's when socialism fails, it runs out of other peoples money...U see it everywhere it is practiced.
seanomelbourne | Nov 12, 2011, 07:25 PM EST
Mman maybe you would like to visit oz to experience a socialist democracy at work.Low unemployment, average wage over $1000pw.four weeks annual leave with 17.5%loading,Ahealthcare system where 1.5% is deducred by the tax dept and nobody dies from non-affordation of health insurance. The government will pass (this session) a mining tax which will be used to increase the non tax threshold, increase superannuation payments for employees from a mandatory 9% to 12% andf increases to the aged pensions. Both houses passed a carbon tax of $20 a metric tonne last week.
Monsoonman | Nov 12, 2011, 07:16 PM EST
The only economic powerhouse in the EU is Capitalist Germany & they R going to demand major changes in the countries they bail out...You obviously don't understand. Because it sure isn't the economic/entitlment buried cripples of Spain-Portugal-Ireland-italy-Greece,France or any of the others. So America is your most concerning evil in the world eh? Delusional.
newnation | Nov 12, 2011, 06:46 PM EST
that's a serious load of crap. "host countries", "marching to Germany's tune", "bail out AGAIN", your deluded!! where are you finding this stuff? you would think it's all about you, obviously America isn't the only evil in the world. just the most concerning one, what has it not messed up so far? What has you speaking English? spread of capitalism maybe? interesting that you conclude that i'd end up speaking German, doesn't that imply that you think socialism under the modern German guise will succeed, hence completely cancelling your point?
Monsoonman | Nov 12, 2011, 05:41 PM EST
Socialism is killing it's host countries, fact. Germany is not going to bail out it's lazy entitled neighbors again unless they march to Germanys Wagner music....Marxist numbskulls who think the only evil in this world is the US & capitalism, LOL..U WILL B speaking German but not because U lost a war.
newnation | Nov 12, 2011, 01:57 PM EST
funny isn't it, if someone else is doing it it's terrorism or communism or socialism, but if america is doing it, then thats ok, if anyone disagrees then oh they just hate america, don't mind those foolish imbeciles. you have some screwed up perceptions of what capitalism achieves and what socialism is. read a book.
Monsoonman | Nov 12, 2011, 01:43 PM EST
Oh for such an America hater..Just watch the economic dominoes fall and see what replaces them. Even more entitlement "green states"? Think self sufficient non entitlement, cheapest way to make enrgy states. Or some Orwellian socialist experiment where some are more equal than others?
newnation | Nov 12, 2011, 01:24 PM EST
yeah i agree and american waterboarding too right?
Monsoonman | Nov 12, 2011, 01:18 PM EST
Yes, english comedy is preferable to chinese water torture...Really.
newnation | Nov 12, 2011, 01:07 PM EST
don't follow your own rhetoric i see, using attack as your last line of defense, but it's ok i understand it, it's the most american of all traits. do you have anything intelligent to say or are we going to start discussing english comedy now?
Monsoonman | Nov 12, 2011, 01:00 PM EST
LOL,,,U seem to be Monty Pythons "Black Knight" of the IC boards...Jumping arnd on yer 2 stumps, still itching to do battle...Come back ye cowards!!!! Still got yer left arm intact I see...Roflmao!

Jaysus spoke in parables so that even the most ignorant amongst us would get the drift.
newnation | Nov 12, 2011, 06:22 AM EST
Well done monoman, once again you went completely off point and into a ravenous rant, "oh look what piece of meaningless news i found today that might save my ideals" any president elected will just be a corporate puppet, or thats actually what you want, right? if not wake up and do something useful.
NYCFiredog | Nov 12, 2011, 12:59 AM EST
Yes he was a pestilence. Millions of dead babies souls could testify at his judgement seat. And I'm sure Mary Jo could be called as a witness. How anyone can diefy this louse of a man because he has Irish ancestry is beyond me. Ever hear of his and Dodd's famous "Waitress Sandwhiches"? And one commenter said he protected his family??? Remember that Easter week when he woke up his nephews for a drinking drugging spree that ended up with another innocent waitress raped? I remember the days when every NYC Irish Bar had an altar with JFK, the Pope, an Irish and American flag. None of the Kennedy boys deserved Sainthood. And without Gods mercy, Ted is frying right now. Mary Jo is only one victim with a name. Millions more infant girls were just as much his victim.
NYCFiredog | Nov 12, 2011, 12:43 AM EST
Thanks to supposed Saint Ted the flow of Irish allowed to emigrate to the U.S. stopped on a dime in 1965 Thanks Ted. Open the gates for the Third world though. Thanks Ted. And the coward let Mary Jo SUFFOCATE in his car, in 8 feet of water. That's right she was ALIVE until the last molecules of oxygen was gone. And he called LAWYERS, not 911. And what this puke of a dog did FAR worse to women than Herman Cain was EVER accused of. As an American with Irish blood flowing through his veins and weeps for all the abortions Teddy supported, I have nothing but shame and disgust. And he should've been tried for treason for reaching out to the Soviets though the KGB to instruct them how to best President Reagan in the SALT Treaty and other Military matters. He was a baby killing, woman killing traitor to his God and his Country.
Monsoonman | Nov 11, 2011, 08:42 PM EST
Yes free bubble up and rainbow stew for all...Heard the occupiers were complaining today that they had spent time and effort making food and the homeless come in and eat it...It's not fair they cried, we worked so hard! LOL Socialism at it's ignorant and hypocritical best LOL!!!
newnation | Nov 11, 2011, 08:37 PM EST
why try change the subject monoman, we all know how dumb your aforementioned "preso" was, back to point: why are the extreme right trying to further sullen the good name of a family that had they been allowed to flourish could have created what all able minded people on this earth craved, an america that people of this world could have been proud of.
Monsoonman | Nov 11, 2011, 07:37 PM EST
If you really want to see a reaction, mention President Bush. Then there will be full fledged Bush Derangement Syndrome(BDS)projectile vomiting all over the board. Like the young lass in the Exorcist...Pea soup everywhere.

Is sea green for real? How much hatred can one person carry? He must be weighted down.
EdinCali | Nov 11, 2011, 05:49 PM EST
Seanmelbourne: Thanks for the compliment?
seanomelbourne | Nov 11, 2011, 05:04 PM EST
Ed a well written article.I am dissappointed you did not condemn Coulter for the bigoted witch she is. To say that mr.Lunz's methods are scientific is false. The only sceince he uses is framing the Questions in a manner to obtain the answers he requires ,an old trick which gains him lots of cash from the discredited Fox/newscorp group.
JerryLynch | Nov 11, 2011, 03:47 PM EST
On "Veteran's Day" in the USA, it should be remembered that Joe Kennedy, Jr. gave his life in WW II in a voluntary secret bombing mission that went afoul. It would have been interesting to see what he would have accomplished in his post-war political and personal life.
ballyhip | Nov 11, 2011, 02:04 PM EST
Funny, Teddy's best pal, not a drinking one, in the Senate was Orrin Hatch of Utah, the very epitome of conservative. Coulter is a real harpy who writes formula books designed for sales, not scholarship. Teddy was my Senator but the old Harvard football end probably should never have been elected. His more qualified opponent was Eddy McCormack, the Speaker's nephew. He made the fatal mistake of ridiculing Teddy (andd the Kennedy name) by referring to him continuously as Edward Moore in a televised debate...makes for a great lesson in Campaigning 101.
MacGiobuinR | Nov 11, 2011, 12:38 PM EST
Ann is a classic example of a poor childhood without the parental guidance of good manners and proper respect. One can disagree with another but such hatred shows a true lack of understanding and a void in the manners attributed to an adult. Slainte
Murph46 | Nov 11, 2011, 12:16 PM EST
OK let's be truthful-Teddy is a murderer-right Mary Jo?
ceceann | Nov 11, 2011, 12:04 PM EST
I was brought up not to speak ill of the dead but cannot forget the harm that was caused and put them up for sainthood either. Anne is there to sell books and does tend to go overboard at times but has her facts and figures correct so, it is harder to find fault. Is she a bully? I do not know, I have never heard her call a child a pig.
TiocfaidhArmani | Nov 11, 2011, 11:44 AM EST
Good on you as a conservative taking a stand on it like that. Anne is too full of hate, she maybe makes good points but they get lost in her constantly trying to be controversial.
seagreen | Nov 11, 2011, 10:48 AM EST
Hannity is a pathetic bastard. At some point, his wife will get wise to his infatuation with Coulter that has been ongoing for ten years. Of course he realizes that all of you right wingers have orgasms listening to Coulter ( I refuse to define gender). Coulter will denigrate dead people, wives and family's of dead people, and anyone else not within a perimeter that is self beneficial. Where have all of the Irish/American moralists come from recently ? There should be statues being erected in your honor all over the country. Sell your house you bought for $31,500 to some young couple for $275,000 move to Florida and sit in some Irish bar in Vero Beach, and tell how you worked for everything you have 1
suzandpej | Nov 11, 2011, 10:23 AM EST
Have we all forgotten Ted Kennedy was responsbile for a woman's death...rather than save her, he saved his own butt? His family were a bunch of cheating rum runners? I believe John and Bobby were decent (but immoral) men, but Ted? Naw..rotten to the core. Dead or alive, facts are facts.
johhnyb | Nov 11, 2011, 10:16 AM EST
Why drag Reagan into the same breath as Kennedy? Reagan was a great man. And as you say - Ted's gone, say no more.
SusanMcCasland | Nov 11, 2011, 10:10 AM EST
Ann Coulter is an embarrassment to America. I am a conservative Irish American but I feel Ted Kennedy was a very great influence on American Government. He fought long and hard for what he believed in. The world was a much better place with him in it. He actually made a greater impact on American policy in the Senate than he could ever have done in the White House. Ted Kennedy was a great man who loved God, his family and both the United States and Ireland.
jamthecat | Nov 11, 2011, 10:05 AM EST
Why does anyone still pay attention to this woman? I honestly do not understand. She's just an attention whore who has added nothing of substance to the national dialogue, just divisivness and hate. So why do we care what she says, anymore?
mayoman | Nov 11, 2011, 10:00 AM EST
Ann Coulter is a provocative grandstander. A loudmouth that's addicted to attention. Practically speaking it helps her sell scads of her shallow books, and assures her a long and lucrative career on Fox Propaganda. I agree with TheOldPerfessor; this is the first time that I find myself in agreement with you, Ed. Good work.
eileenkny | Nov 11, 2011, 09:57 AM EST
Whatever he may have done in his personal life, he was an enormous presence in the Senate and a protector of his family. Ann Coulter had best watch where she steps-he may not be here to defend himself, but there are many who will do it. Of course, being the person she is, she'll never hear them in her tower of ultra-conservative inflexibility.
colkelley | Nov 11, 2011, 09:31 AM EST
I would't have called that slimeball a "pestilence" - that gives a bad name to pestilences.
TheOldPerfessor | Nov 11, 2011, 09:18 AM EST
I'm in the unusual position of agreeing with you. Good column.
gobdawpaddy | Nov 11, 2011, 05:24 AM EST
Anne Coulter needs to get laid.
